@Lawrencelovespiano I have to admit that I'm afraid of this piece because of the jumps ans the crazy 16ths towards the middle and end, but one day I'll get around to it.
Yes, the jumps are difficult, but they are more around in the beginning of this piece. It's also difficult to play those alternating D sharps in two different octaves. Though, if you practice, you will eventually get this piece. Speaking of which, have you completed Liszt's Second Hungarian Rhapsody?
@Lawrencelovespiano not yet, I got the first mov. down, but then when it goes into vivace and it gets a crazy rhythm I can't seem to get it right, I gotta go back to my teacher and ask for some help, I saw her playing this once so she knows it a little bit better lol.
Sorry, that I"ve choosed repeatedly one of Liszt's compositions from your big repertoire, but I know this composition well, to give for your performance the highest scores.
sweet!I've got a concert in a few weeks at peabody, and I'll be playing this....I'll post it and would be thrilled if you would take a look at it George......I've only been playing la campanella for a few months and it's really good already!
Wow, amazing performance! I've been learning this beast for a long time, but I'm simply not good enough - it's extremely hard, incredible performance for your age!
Lovely performance:) it seems you worked out some sharp twists and turns in this piece. Although Liszt himself made this piece in the heart of Paganini's success and praise. I like a heavier approach to this piece. As we know Liszt broke cords in many live performances and wanted his music to be made for a large scale concert not just music for orchestra. My favorites are, Andre watts, Hofmann, Busoni's version, David helfgott, The Grande etudes by liszt, Yund LI, Kissin, Hemalins versionECT
an excellent performance! played with much spunk and clarity. now for more spontaneity. and give the bells (ie. high repetitive notes) more melodic shape... you would be a true child prodigy :)
Very accomplished and spirited performance. To broaden your interpretation, you might have a listen to the original Paganini work for violin. One should keep in mind that the meter here is 6/8 that in general has a lighter feel about it, so the phrasing could have longer lines and not divided up into three beats all the time. The name of the piece means itself "little bell" taken from the handbell of Paganini's b minor concerto.
Liszt turns a small bell at the outset into a gong at the end.
George, this is a great performance and you have done it again. What consistency with such challenging pieces!! The sound quality of the piano is also very attractive.
Les mots me manquent..... Cette légèreté, cette rapidité, cette fluidité...... Un régal des sens..... Des frissons à l'écoute de cette interprétation...!
Very good work!! Incidentally, I would tend to disagree with Aul1kki about your technique; it occurs to me that you may be having to fight with the piano to produce the particular tone you have in mind for this piece, so any problems here might be laid to an intractable instrument rather than a guilty George ;)
That's incredible! Is there a way to make one's hands don't tire when you play so highly technique works? My right hand usually gets tired too quickly...
You have wrong technique. It's hard to say how to do that, but relaxing your hands when they are unused is one important part and also use only that much of power as you need to play something. Also after you have pushed the key down, then you use only that much power as you need to keep it down. Also watch your pinkys and 4th fingers, because sometimes those fingers are pointing up causing unnecessary tense.
I often notice that I have unneeded tense when I'm playing and when I'm concentrating on that the musical side will suffer. So it's a little bit complicated thing. But you already got one of the finest technique I've ever seen. For example this and bumblebee are very good examples of your technique and musical side. I can't wait to see how your playing will improve in the future.
I was SO happy you did this showstopper, George! It's an irresistibly dynamic piece and you brought it home beautifully! I hope you enjoyed playing it as much as we enjoy listening. Something tells me you are happy to be performing this! And how nice that it was for a good cause in fundraising! Bravo from SoFL,
If I had done this in 8th grade (I actually did in 5th grade 30 minute assembly, although admittedly not this difficulty) my "friends" would have taken me out back and broken my fingers. :(

can some1 explain to me wat "etude" means?
omguanyin 2 years ago
etude means "study piece", it´s a pice which seeks to develop a particular technical aspect of who's performing
pabloadrian1989 2 years ago
It means "study" or "excercise". Every etude is a technique study that is working to improve something.
