hi all am not new to the french car having owned reny 5 torbo a couple of 106 gti's clio valvers . but i now own a 306 gti 6 dont get me wrong its fast top end but it dont feel very quick til it hits 3rd gear seems to just drag on in first and second .. never been in another 306 gti before just want to no if this is what there like and how do i make it quicker ... its got a pug sport on it and an induction kit ( dont what kind goes down and unde front bumper ) any help would be great cheers
@b4mb4m100 then you have a problem with you car, i can get 60 from mine in 1st, 85 in 2nd and just shy of 110 in 3rd, then to eventualy pull me upto 155 in 6th
@TAppo2k9 well i dont have a problem now then cos mine does around the same speeds as yours its just slow on the cam does not seem to have the power curve like any of my other pugs .. my 106 gti felt quicker then the 306 gti6 but the 306 would of hammered it top end ... and you must have been clocked at 155 have you ? cos my clocks stop at 140 but it keeps pulling like a train .. not a bad car for the money a gave for it ... it would of been on par with my type r after 80 ish like
@b4mb4m100 you havnt got a problem they dont get goin till 3rd gear, this is mine in the video and it used to do 40 mph in 1st gear 60 2nd 90 in 3rd top speed was flat out at 140, 155 mph is not true there not geared for that, evan if u ran 400 bhp ur get there quicker but thats it, check the ratios out on google.. cracking car tho

@millsydt "the 106 us better than the clio!" are u havin a laugh im 30 years old and in the last ten years have had a 2x 205 gti 1.6 + 1.9 106 gti 306 gti-6 (viper ind kit superchip decat full exhaust) and iv currently got a clio 182 the 106 is 1.6 and guttless!! Was quite dissapointed the best of the pugs is the 306 or the 1.9 205 gti but my clio is quickest (pipercross indkit full magnex decat 3" pipe) newer nicer car that handles better than a 306 and will stay with standard 215 bhp scoobys
i can say first hand that the gti6 is near enough damn as fast a 182 as i own one and had a do with a 182/172 the other day , but not every 182 is 182 horse some have been rolling roaded a lot less same for the gti6 being 167, but as for the vts 100 mph and the wind resistance takes over as they have no TORQUE whoops i used capitals for emphasis, all i here is , Had 135 out the vts the other day, NO , no you didnt your speedo is wrong. Good vid. I think a 14.7 1/4 mile is hard to belive from standard lump. I've got the quickest gti-6 out of 5 of my friends gti-6's and my best is a 15.2 @93mph. Maybe an inlet cam has been fitted previous to your ownership. These 306's are very throaty as completely standard.
you cant say that its not standard though mine does 0-60 in 6.4 and a standing 1/4 mile in 14.7 and its bone stock apart from an exhaust sometimes a car comes out the factory quicker then the rest.
This is not a stock GTi-6 for sure. I own a Citreon ZX 16V 167bhp and a Saxo VTS that outputs 158cv and no way the bone stock GTi-6 beats the 182 Clio. The 3 previous Xsara VTS I had were fast, but not enough to beat the ZX. Altough the 3 2.016V are fast and speed up closely, the 306 is the lowest in a straight line.
@coltmivec16v. From expirience i would say that the gti-6 is generally the fastest point to point. ZX and Xsara have never given me trouble and having owned a saxo VTS i would say its the only one that has any real chance against the GTI-6.
the 106 gti with a few mods can do pretty well with a clio sport so i duno its hard too say i reckon the 6 speed gearbox with close ratios will make up for the 10 hp or so the 306 gti6 can also keep up with a type r so i heard too on the twistys both excellent cars though
funny you should mention the 106 gti, that was my previos car which i modified to around 150bhp. To be fair the clio (182 i own now) didnt feel faster at all. The main difference is the clio can deploy its power more effectively where the 106 would spin all day long. Ive raced the citroen xsara vts which has the same engine as a 306gti and i could get around 4/5 cars by 100mph from standing start. Things were a bit closer on rolling starts tho but i still had a definate edge at any speed.
the 106 gti are better though than the clio sport and 306 gti as they are better on fuel and a bit cheaper too insure the xsara vts though has a 5 speed box were the 306 gti6 has a 6 so the gti6 is a wee bit quicker through the gears its hard too choose between the 306 and clio the gti6 has 6 speed while the 182 has more power and is lighter i no a few people though that have put superchargers on the 306 so they push out 250hp
Suprisingly my clio returns about 4-5mpg more than my 106 did lol. now that you mention it he did say he could get over 70mph in 2nd gear which would suggest the gear ratios are too long in the xsara vts. According to book stats the 182 is a fair bit quicker than the 306 to 60 and 100mph altho the 306 does have a slight top end advantage ;) k-tec racing do a turbo kit for the clio which is 305bhp... to me that would be undrivable especially in a light car like the clio lol
yer it could be because you have too rev the 106 more too get the power i think bout clio and 306 will nudge 140 i wonder what the clio would be like with a 6 speed though i only drive a fiesta mk4 1.25 so i dont no what fast is but a fella i no runs a 2.1 zetec turbo in a fiesta mk1 will do 11 sec quarter mile i really want too drive that these remaped diesels though can beat that fast petrols a 160hp ibiza beat a clio 172 midrange only just though like an inch lol
the clio doesnt really need a 6 speed box, the only problem with them which is the same as the type r, if your not thrashing it too an inch of its life you dont get the full 182 (or 172) bhp and is only average performance ;)
Dont pull ur 1.25 down, they are pretty slow but you can have great fun in them still because they are great handling cars, still great to thrash on a back road lol ;)

This is not a stock GTi-6 for sure. I own a Citreon ZX 16V 167bhp and a Saxo VTS that outputs 158cv and no way the bone stock GTi-6 beats the 182 Clio. the 306 in this video clearly isnt standard tho, definatly got breathing mods and even then the clio was coming back lol
those 306 gti are quick, but if your getting one try and get the rallye ;)

funny you should mention the 106 gti, that was my previos car which i modified to around 150bhp. To be fair the clio (182 i own now) didnt feel faster at all. The main difference is the clio can deploy its power more effectively where the 106 would spin all day long.
