Eccl 3:14 It says whatever God does it is forever. God married Adam and Eve together for time and all eternity. We as Mormons that God gives us the opportunity in this life to be married to someone we love for eternity. The next time you look at your wife are you going to tell her you only love her enough to be with her in this life or you going to say for eternity? About it being Old the doctrine of Polygamy never ended. Remember what it says in Eccl 3:14. It has only been taken away.

To me this is the common Anti Mormon twisting things to their views. If you read D&C 131 it plainly says New and Everlasting. This is probably the ply on wither marriage is of God or not. Well the answer is obvious God commanded Adam and Eve to multiply and replenish the Earth. I don't think I have to explain what that means. We all believe that God doesn't force any of us to sin. If Adam and Eve were not married God would of commanded them to sin. But who married them? God.

Try reading D&C 131. It states that MARRIAGE is the new and everlasting covenant, not polygamy. Polygamy is just a form of marriage. There are 2 types of truths: relative and eternal. Eternal truths are those which will not die; baptism, marriage, etc. Relative truths on the other hand are those which will/may die and are subject to change and sometimes are connected, or RELATIVE, to other truths; circumcision, POLYGAMY, unclean animals, the law of sacrifice, etc.

The question doesn't make sense for at first you say that the covenant is referred to as "new" and then ask why it is considered "old". If it is referred to as "new", it obviously is not considered "old".

We need a modern day Prophet to help us with the Modern day things. Such as Pornography. If tehre was not a Prophet on this earth today, how would some people be able to know that that is a sin? We still need Revelation. Not everything is released at one time. Revelation must happen at the right place, and in the right time.

People say their not needed anymore obviously their was a need for them still after the resurrection. But since you guys supposedly know more about the scriptures than I do. Answer the question you asked why would God continue to call prophets? Take note also of the prophecy in Acts 3:20-24.

@EvidenceMinistries Here is another way we can look at the question. If Christ apostles were supposed to end after his death. Then why did the apostles soon after the resurrection of Christ call someone to take Judas's spot? This is a contradiction or Christ meant for the apostleship to go on after him. Nor does the Bible support the theory that once he was resurrected was it to ever end. Otherwise with Christ true church their will be prophets and apostles always.

Not a good observation then I'm afraid. Lds members have 4 standard works. Bible, Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants and Pearl of Great Price. There is no order of importance as they are all scripture.

God, and that is why the LDS people still practiced it even after they were being arrested and having all their property taken away. The only ended once the Lord commanded it. Why was it in place? I have my own oppinions and they have nothing to do with sex like most perverted people automatically think when they think of polygomy. Just shows how simple their minds are.

There is no record of "the Lord commanding" the end of the practice of polygamy. Go read Wilford Woodruff's manifesto (official declaration 1 in todays D&C) it says nothing at all about God--doesn't mention God. It does mention Woodruff's "advice." More importantly it was not treated as "God's Will" by the very leaders of the LDS church. They secretly continued polygamy during Woodruff's life and well into the 20th century.

Oh, I get it now. I misheard your video. The New and Everlasting Covenant refers to eternal marriage, not polygamy. Both eternal marriage and polygamy are found in the same section of the D&C, but aren't part of the New and Everlasting Covenant.

"If a man marry a wife by my word...and by the new and everlasting covenant, and it is sealed unto them by the Holy Spirit of promise, by him who is anointed...in time, and through all eternity..." (D&C 132:19).

Please read verses 1-5 of D&C 132. Smith asks about many wives. Verse two says, "Behold, and lo, I am the Lord thy God, and will answer thee as touching this matter."

"This" refers back to Smith's question in verse one. Many wives.

Mdeseive: I have found that when speaking with others not of our faith.. it does not impress people to quote from the Book of Mormon or other scriptures other than the Bible. The Book of Mormon has a much better way of explaining things than the Bible does.. but both are used. What does it matter anyway? Both are the word of God. So tell me.. which to read more of... Old testament or New Testament? Both are the word of God. Do you find that you relate to one better than the other?

oops -- Polygamy is not referred to as a new and everlasting covenant; the NAEC is "eternal marriage." polygamy is a practice, a procedure -- sorta like "Sunday School". polygamy supported eternal marriage; sunday school supports learning the gospel. if sunday school goes away, we still gotta learn the gospel. The first verse of D&C 132 explains what the revelation is about.

"Verily, thus saith the Lord unto you my servant Joseph, that inasmuch as you have inquired of my hand to know and understand wherein I, the Lord, justified my servants Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, as also Moses, David and Solomon, my servants, as touching the principle and doctrine of their having many wives and concubines."

To answer your other question, I get my understanding of Mormonism from official LDS sources.

I can flip through the channels on TV and find plenty of shows or videos about the Bible, however, I can't find videos or clips about the Book of Mormon. Since Youtube is a wealth of knowledge, I can find those videos concerning the Book of Mormon. So I choose to save them here so I can watch them again, just because I don't have favorites about the Bible on Youtube doesn't mean I think less of it. Polygamy, as sanctioned by God, is not old and, at present, not contemporary in practice (at least not with concurrently living wives). It is, as are all components of the Gospel baring the titles "New and Everlasting," new because it is perpetually renewed and everlasting by both that reason AND the fact that it is divine, and one of the divine names is Everlasting.

The pay phone was invented in 1889 and was the newest/best thing in the world, everyone used them. Now you see about 6 of them in every state. When they first came out they were great, no one ever would have seen them going away, now no one thinks about them. Sound familiar?
