They used to play this jam in a club I used to frequent back in the day. Was never much of a hit compared to other songs of hers, but one of my favorites.
@superserial1 It's because, lyric-wise, it's a "message song", It's a song about how the media promotes "negativity", and how pornography feeds the image that women/girls are sexual objects, not human beings :-) What I find surprizing is that a lot of people don't get that Prince's overly sexual songs, are really just him being brillant enough to know what will get people's attention, so they'll listen to his "message songs".
@luvluvluvme2 Your parents are failures, and you're a fucking loser. I'm guessing they're probably somewhere boozing it up or snorting lines and you're either a drop out or an unsupervised kid.
@Q8336B Me too, I started baggin' up the minute I saw this mess, I love me some Sheila E because she was never one of Prince's women that he would try to mold into his next masterpiece and then dump. She was her own woman, drums and all!
cat, sheila and prince were just cosmic. perfect together at the time....well sheila and prince have always been perfect together...ok along with the horns of eric (madhouse) leeds. 2 musicians prince should keep 4ever, they just compliment each other.
CAT AND SHEILA WERE SO AMAZING TOGETHER! THIS IS SUCH A PERFECT EXAMPLE OF THEIR CHEMISTRY AND HOW IN TUNE THEY WERE! LOVE THE BLACKFACE! NO DOUBT CAT CAME WITH THAT ONE AND I RECOGNIZE HER CHOREOGRAPHY IN THIS VIDEO 4 SURE!
@Silicon1991 The whole look the glasses the coats with the hearts all very prince Sign of the Times LoveSexy priod that whole neo hippy thing prince rocked so well for awhile. Man i miss that. But this, man Cat and shela together cant get much better.
when i heard this song i was like, 'yup, Prince wrote it' you could just tell by the way the song is composed and its lyrics...love this song and Sheila E
I remember this song! It is one of my faves by Sheila and Prince. To me she was the most talented of Prince's ladies. Love those sycopated beats and that groove. Great trip back to the 80's.... thanks for posting.
Classic. This was such a great time in music and probably the most productive period for the artists who popularized the "Minneapolis Sound".( Sheila E., Jam & Lewis, TaMara and the Seen, Jesse Johnson et. all) prove that good music never goes out of style!
@jerflm4 Lisa played keyboards, not guitar. Wendy was the guitar player for the Revolution. Miko Weaver also played guitar for Sheila and Prince... but I think most of the instrumentation on this track is Prince (except for the vocals and percussion).
the transition out of the 80s was very painful.. i just discovered 'inner city' and love how you can hear the beginnings of house music in it,.,. but then you go back one year, with this ridiculous neon denim big hair nonsense.. its so similar but so far off. i also dont like to think about being conceived in this year
I luv shelia E. and Prince. I had this song a very long time ago on a 45, lol The B side is "Paradise Gardens" if anyone could find that song, please post it. Ty so very much!
Peace mother, brother...& peace of mind, U got 2 love one another all of the time 'cuz a kiss on the lips is better than a knife in the back....Can U get into that?
Sheila's third album was not as catchy as her first two albums, but the songs that were good were AWESOME. This is one of them ! LOVED "Wednesday like a river", "Hold me" and "Faded photographs" as well. She looks good with those glasses, by the way !
@Cicilo1983 I love the third self-titled album. It had a Dream Factory style without The Dream Factory being released. Love On A Blue Train was all the way Dream Factory style in music and drum sounds, production! I think the album was suppose to coincide stylistically with DF. Opening track was super Funky too!
Sheila E was copying Prince's Camille Curtis Mayfield glasses look.
Such a big error made prince himself getting out of youtube. Time will let all know. Anyway I must admit I still admire him,. Great Sheila E in her second best album, least for me!!. Thanks User for upload it. I got my original albums but I always like to hear them here with images from time to time.
OMG I loved this video when it first came out and I love it to ths day. It was to be enjoyed in a happy light, hearted way, Fun, cute and kookie with Shieka E bringing the sexy and Cat running arund as s sexy playmate, I meet Sheila and got to hang out with her for a few hours,,,I'm happy to say She is adorably sweet , funny and thoughtful, very much the just, ''Folks" type person, Nothing but love from this Die Never Fan. Erica Smith If you are a fan also , look me up on facebook
Man, i pulled this album up yesterday, on my itunes, and was jamming to this. Didn't think this video would be up here, but low and behold, here it is lol !!!!!
Pure Camille Funk right here! Except Sheila was singing. I love this style in Prince's music, with the orchestral hits and strange aquatic-y effects mixed in with the hi-hats. Its that whole dark futuristic, forward moving Peach & Black Funk, its intense. Upto this point it was all Atomic Dog/Super Freak Funk but this, oh man, this was pushing it to the beyond, everybody jam!
He's made his position MORE than clear on the YouTube issue and it's pretty lame if you ask me.
I'm saying people should be sharing his music via mp3 uploads/downloads but would it kill the little bruh's cash flow for the vids for "Controversy", "When Doves Cry" or "Rapsberry Beret" to be on YT?
He's made as much as he's gonna make from those joints at this point. Dude is just trippin'........
I hear you, but i was looking at some of his videos and u got to love his art. The man is ....OMG . can't get enough of his early stuff. If i didn't know he was a dude, I would fall in love...... too much...... hahahahahaha
Beakerinnetje - this was the Sign O The Times/Camille look, thats where they were. Its a rawer more urban, creative Funk look. Probably the last of the great Funk movements if you can call it. I had a Chic friend that loved this song so much, she dressed like this for about a month. Her mom yelled at her for blonding the front of her hair.
