  • Sheila E looks sooo much better than Cat!!!

  • Thank you so very much for posting this, I miss my Sheila E album cassette tape :)

  • Sounds like this was made during the Camille sessions.

  • A Video Soul flashback.

  • I love this video...

  • Two Words: Boo Boo

  • They used to play this jam in a club I used to frequent back in the day. Was never much of a hit compared to other songs of hers, but one of my favorites.

  • @superserial1 It's because, lyric-wise, it's a "message song", It's a song about how the media promotes "negativity", and how pornography feeds the image that women/girls are sexual objects, not human beings :-) What I find surprizing is that a lot of people don't get that Prince's overly sexual songs, are really just him being brillant enough to know what will get people's attention, so they'll listen to his "message songs".

  • Fuck she was hot back then.... not so much now, but shit I would have hit that.

  • @GeneralHoohah Bitch have u seen her on ELLEN!!! SHE IS HOTT AS HELL!!! Get-Cho DUMB hatin Ass OUTTA HERE LMAO!!! FUCKIN LOSER :P

  • @luvluvluvme2 Your parents are failures, and you're a fucking loser. I'm guessing they're probably somewhere boozing it up or snorting lines and you're either a drop out or an unsupervised kid.

  • UGGGGGHHH, THIS SUCKS

  • @nauris706 UGGGGHHH, YOU SUCK

  • @nauris706 why were u watching it then

  • @nauris706 U SUCK

  • It's 2011 and Sheila E. still rocks!!

  • im gonna by a housa and paint it like this... im a guy

  • Prince had some fine ass protege's...talented others not so much, but all fine.

  • lol completely forgot this song

  • @Q8336B Me too, I started baggin' up the minute I saw this mess, I love me some Sheila E because she was never one of Prince's women that he would try to mold into his next masterpiece and then dump. She was her own woman, drums and all!

  • cat was the best dancer prince had

love me some sheila E, wish i could find her playing drums on sign of the times

  • This is the closest we'll get to Prince here on YT,... :(

  • @sunflowernoo Actually it's not. :) happy face

  • "A kiss on the lips is better than a knife in the back..."-guess Warner Bros. didn't agree with that philosophy. Great song though.

  • cat, sheila and prince were just cosmic. perfect together at the time....well sheila and prince have always been perfect together...ok along with the horns of eric (madhouse) leeds. 2 musicians prince should keep 4ever, they just compliment each other.

  • SLAMMIN!!!!! thisshit was off the hook

  • I LOVE THIS WOMAN

  • One of the sexiest women ever to walk on this planet.

  • Add this to the Funky Fav's

  • LOVE IT

  • Haven't heard this in at least 20 yrs! Love the acid washed jeans. LOL She's a good rapper!

  • this video and song is koo kooo ✪‿✪

  • CAT AND SHEILA WERE SO AMAZING TOGETHER! THIS IS SUCH A PERFECT EXAMPLE OF THEIR CHEMISTRY AND HOW IN TUNE THEY WERE! LOVE THE BLACKFACE! NO DOUBT CAT CAME WITH THAT ONE AND I RECOGNIZE HER CHOREOGRAPHY IN THIS VIDEO 4 SURE!

  • wtf ?

  • Didn't Prince use simular glasses on his Sign O THe TIme tour :D. Cool if it's the same.

  • @Silicon1991 The whole look the glasses the coats with the hearts all very prince Sign of the Times LoveSexy priod that whole neo hippy thing prince rocked so well for awhile. Man i miss that. But this, man Cat and shela together cant get much better.

  • when i heard this song i was like, 'yup, Prince wrote it' you could just tell by the way the song is composed and its lyrics...love this song and Sheila E

  • killer bodies!! damn....

  • L'occasion de démontrer à travers ce clip que Sheila E. fut un jour la plus belle femme du monde...

Ne jamais supprimer cette vidéo svp !

  • I name my "username" after this song :-) Sheila could had been as big as Prince if they would had gotten married ;-)

  • Sheila ! Oakland High school all the way ! ... Me , Sheila , Peter Michael and David Godinez musicians outta O-High.

  • I remember this song! It is one of my faves by Sheila and Prince. To me she was the most talented of Prince's ladies. Love those sycopated beats and that groove. Great trip back to the 80's.... thanks for posting.

  • I luv it(: !

  • what an album.. what a picture on the cover!! sheila makes gay men turn straight..

  • @EXTENDED91 Dam straight.

  • Favorite part: The Chorus. Her and Prince sound good together.

  • Shiela E. is too DAMN fine, hip and talented.

  • Classic. This was such a great time in music and probably the most productive period for the artists who popularized the "Minneapolis Sound".( Sheila E., Jam & Lewis, TaMara and the Seen, Jesse Johnson et. all) prove that good music never goes out of style!

  • Sheila E. seems like a perfect woman-form of Prince :D

  • @RATMfan92 Cause he discoverd her

  • @SklSucks1 Prince didn't discover her, George Duke did.

  • cameo rip.......

  • SO sexy! This is an awesome song. I think I would like it just as much if Prince sang it himself, but he's not as sexy to me. Sorry. I'm a guy.

  • Cat had such a masculine face

  • DAMN SHEILA WAS FINE!! HELL STILL IS!!! LOVE THIS JAM!! HATE IT'S SO SHORT.

  • Hold on now....this song is makin me want to do the splits...OUCH! *note to self...I'm too damn old to do the splits now..*

  • totally fits in with the sign o the times music of that era, can hear some of the same instruments from this song in sign o, or is that vice versa??

  • Sheila and Cat together, watch out now!!!

  • very cool, little known song.

funny cos she moves and stuff like prince. rubbed off on her i guess...plus - pretty sure that's lisa(from the revoloution) on guitar

  • @jerflm4 Lisa played keyboards, not guitar. Wendy was the guitar player for the Revolution. Miko Weaver also played guitar for Sheila and Prince... but I think most of the instrumentation on this track is Prince (except for the vocals and percussion).

  • @sake008 ah, ok. so i guess wendy was the one in the kiss video, whose brother played keys for smashing pumpkins - and eventually o.d.'d

  • ala prince....great little beat!!

  • i love the music video its cute :)

  • the transition out of the 80s was very painful.. i just discovered 'inner city' and love how you can hear the beginnings of house music in it,.,. but then you go back one year, with this ridiculous neon denim big hair nonsense.. its so similar but so far off. i also dont like to think about being conceived in this year

  • can u upload sheila e song "faded photographs"

  • I luv shelia E. and Prince. I had this song a very long time ago on a 45, lol The B side is "Paradise Gardens" if anyone could find that song, please post it. Ty so very much!

  • i remember this video...such memories

  • clearly inspired by sign o times

  • Peace mother, brother...& peace of mind, U got 2 love one another all of the time 'cuz a kiss on the lips is better than a knife in the back....Can U get into that?

  • Sheila's third album was not as catchy as her first two albums, but the songs that were good were AWESOME. This is one of them ! LOVED "Wednesday like a river", "Hold me" and "Faded photographs" as well. She looks good with those glasses, by the way !

  • @Cicilo1983 I love the third self-titled album. It had a Dream Factory style without The Dream Factory being released. Love On A Blue Train was all the way Dream Factory style in music and drum sounds, production! I think the album was suppose to coincide stylistically with DF. Opening track was super Funky too!

Sheila E was copying Prince's Camille Curtis Mayfield glasses look.

  • Such a big error made prince himself getting out of youtube. Time will let all know. Anyway I must admit I still admire him,. Great Sheila E in her second best album, least for me!!. Thanks User for upload it. I got my original albums but I always like to hear them here with images from time to time.

  • Holy crap, I didn't know there was a video for this!!!

  • LUV IT

  • i always thought prince should have married her.

  • OMG I loved this video when it first came out and I love it to ths day. It was to be enjoyed in a happy light, hearted way, Fun, cute and kookie with Shieka E bringing the sexy and Cat running arund as s sexy playmate, I meet Sheila and got to hang out with her for a few hours,,,I'm happy to say She is adorably sweet , funny and thoughtful, very much the just, ''Folks" type person, Nothing but love from this Die Never Fan. Erica Smith If you are a fan also , look me up on facebook

  • Wow! I haven't heard this in years. Thanks for posting.

  • Miko Weaver,Rosie Gaines,Levi Seacer,Jr.,Sheila E.,Boni Boyer...The Bay Area is a goldmine for Prince.

  • Um garnergens where did u find this album agains cuz... I didn't see it on iTunes

  • Man, i pulled this album up yesterday, on my itunes, and was jamming to this. Didn't think this video would be up here, but low and behold, here it is lol !!!!!

  • i have a great rare sheila e dvd and also are prince dvds. message me for deails

  • wow listen to the beat it so hott

  • Pure Camille Funk right here! Except Sheila was singing. I love this style in Prince's music, with the orchestral hits and strange aquatic-y effects mixed in with the hi-hats. Its that whole dark futuristic, forward moving Peach & Black Funk, its intense. Upto this point it was all Atomic Dog/Super Freak Funk but this, oh man, this was pushing it to the beyond, everybody jam!

  • @wendileona OMG THIS WAS MY JAM!!! I WAS IN 8TH GRADE!!

  • @wendileona I totally agree with you, this was my favorite and the best Sheila E. album to that date.

  • This is the SHIZ... Sheila E. and Cat... this is a classic. I can't find this on iTunes!!! This was a good LP!!! THANKS FOR THE POST!

  • Thanks for the memories!!!!

  • 1:57 - 1:59 ---Don't have any idea what it is what does it to me, but I get a shiver when the tall one makes that move.

  • OMG!!! THAT TAKES ME BACK!

  • IT'S BEEN YEARS SINCE I'VE SEEN THIS! I had it on VHS when I was little.. LOL. Thank you so much for posting this. Classic!

  • that my girl

  • Oh My God!! Thank you for posting this! I had forgottten about this video. I love sheila!

  • i have a great sheila E dvd, interviews, tv performances and music videos. message me for details : )

  • does anybody have faded photograph off of this same album?

  • yes i do i still have the tape

  • Been looking for that one for the last two years!

  • hahahahaaa

    bringin back the old times.....

    hahahahhaaa

  • Yeah this is still nice ,

    thanks

  • This sounds like it would be a b-side of Hot Thing.

  • Hey this beat goes hard!

  • you are sorry, sedouche.

  • You have to admit that the whole song compersition is silly in chords music and words

  • Love this song. Looks like Cat dancing in the background.

  • That is Cat dancing with Sheila.

I always thought the music for this track sounded like a "Shockadelica" outtake.

The drums & sampling sequences are almost identical.

  • Very much so.

  • LOL...woo...sucky vid lol...its catchy tho

  • Sheila e so cool she can be wearin glasses and she still look good..

  • lol my name is sheila. haha im14 years old. lol this is what i get for youtube-ing myself haha

  • oh was he? wtf have you done since 1987, besides make chips from ice?

  • its cat.

  • Shelia E. and Kat, wow

  • I'm surprised Prince and his devildogs haven't had this video pulled since you can hear his voice as a background singing. *smh*

That cat needs to ease up with all that bullshit.....

  • Its not Prince but the WB

  • Nope. It's PRINCE.

He's made his position MORE than clear on the YouTube issue and it's pretty lame if you ask me.

I'm saying people should be sharing his music via mp3 uploads/downloads but would it kill the little bruh's cash flow for the vids for "Controversy", "When Doves Cry" or "Rapsberry Beret" to be on YT?

He's made as much as he's gonna make from those joints at this point. Dude is just trippin'........

  • Correction to previous post: "I'm NOT saying people should be sharing his music via mp3 uploads/downloads but......."

  • I hear you, but i was looking at some of his videos and u got to love his art. The man is ....OMG . can't get enough of his early stuff. If i didn't know he was a dude, I would fall in love...... too much...... hahahahahaha

  • Does anyone have Sheila E.'s instrumental entitled Too Sexy? Please let me know.

  • This sucks - it simply aint the sound of Sheila E. Her style and clothing were far better in times like A love bizarre and Holly Rock!

  • Beakerinnetje - this was the Sign O The Times/Camille look, thats where they were. Its a rawer more urban, creative Funk look. Probably the last of the great Funk movements if you can call it. The Funk was sparse, frightening and not meant for mass consumption, it was discarding, maybe trampling the wide appeal Pop Funk of the mid 80's.

  • Okay, thanx for letting me know. But I still think it's crap :-)

  • Sheila E. and Kat...cute dance moves!

  • I guess Prince didn't write this one since the sound hasn't been disabled.

  • Prince wrote this!

  • Oh yeah he did!!!

  • Really my favourite video of her and amazing track, great music of 80's !!!

  • man awesome haven't heard this one for ages!! love her totally talented...always thought this song didn't show off her talent ...definitely Prince influenced

    ]

  • this is one of those songs that I forgot even existed til it turns up on youtube

  • This (and Cry Baby) is probably my all time fav song by Sheila E. She's hot and this song is tight. Surprised it wasn't more popular. I thought this video sucked pretty bad though. Made a tight ass song seem goofy as hell. Kind of shit on the art of the song. Still, nice to see the local color in the video.

  • I can't believe that I found this video! Thanks for posting. This song came and went so fast that I thought I had imagined it!..

  • go sheila... sheila was the bomb and still is

  • Haha! Was this song on Beavis and Butt-Head? If not, I can most certainly see Beavis singing along. Pfft. Haha! B)-~~~

  • I had this whole album. Sheila E. was bad back in the day and still is.

  • I love this video, at least the dancing,

Is that Cat with Sheila E.

  • yep :)

  • OMG!! this was my song, anybody that had anything to do with Prince, Where in the heck do you all find these videos

  • This song makes me happy

  • Come on people! This was 20 years ago! I must admit I was much more smitten with it back then, but yall are way harsh.

  • LOVE Sheila E. A truly classy and talented LADY.

  • Prince wrote all these songs. Amazing if you add up his hits and divide by all the stuff he wrote, he would have a small % of "success".

  • Minneapolis sound rules the funk seen.

  • LOL... looking at it now I think to myseif "damn this was an ugly time, so bright and loud" but back then that was the bomb!! LOL

  • this reminds me of high school. after this song on the mixed tape song i had came lets go by nocera. i always loved this song but luckily i never saw the video till now. was it really necessary to do the crazy finger circles every time she says kookoo?? that was a bit much. and what was the budget on this video? $250. including sheila getting her hair did. i love the song but not the video.

  • the melody makes the song seem so silly, but it's actually on some REAL talk. Check the lyrics, the meaning is rather powerful.

  • is that cat as dancer in the video

  • yes

  • Prince wrote this song...Everything he wrote 4 Sheila had 2 coincide with whatever style he was doing at the time....She was/is his female counterpart...This is more or less the female companion of "Sign O' The Times"....And the style(60's glasses, hearts, jeans, peach & black) all coincide with Prince's SOTT era style.

  • I remember going out to get some spectacles and ribbon so I could twist my hair just like Sheila. I never did get the drumming thing down though. oh well.

  • Cute song its great!

  • man, i was addicted 2 that one back then...i had a guy i went 2 school with that was my declared enemy...in music class we discovered we both love this song, from that point on we got along fine...!

  • Definitely her most underrated of her Prince-penned singles.

  • You could try to make this more '80s, but you could not do it.

  • koo koo koo uoo uoo...

  • Yes and damn I am wet now !! She makes you sweat !1

  • my fave sheila e video...!! thx been looking 4eva 4 this..peace !

  • o m g i love this song , this was during the sott / love sexy prince produce this song and added Cat to dance with miss sheila e the greatest drummer ever

  • I truly agree that Sheila E is the greatest drummer EVER!!!

  • Thats just sexy!

  • I use to play this over and over .

  • funky dunky..

  • I had a Chic friend that loved this song so much, she dressed like this for about a month. Her mom yelled at her for blonding the front of her hair.

  • 80's, what a weird time

  • yes it was but it was so much fun

  • sheila E. very Beautiful talented and strong

  • "Not bad...for a girl!"

  • LOOOOOOOOOOOL @ the clothes and set.

But she is just so good.

  • LOVE THIS SONG!

  • Brings back a whole lotta memories! I remember watching this on Video Soul!

  • I remember pat & kat from star search..

  • Go Sheila, Go Kat...lolthis was my joint back in the day.....love the video

  • Is that Cat Glover dancing behind her?

  • Sure is
