Midori Ito and Nakano

Any female skater being able to do a 3A is impressive, however comparing midori's massive and beautiful 3A to nakanos is pathetic

Midori's 3As are more like "flying" rather than a "jump"....

From top of my head, I remember that Midori's height is quite short and she's asian so her body posture was suitable for jumping.

Although Yukari's aren't that good, it is still impressive that she can do it.

her triple axel is textbook possibly better than majority of the men out there apart from the likes of the obvious yagudin plushenko etc but yeah nakanos is atleasta a quarter under

I would say taht Midori Ito's Triple Axels (e.g. this of Worlds 1990) are at least as good as those of Plushenko, Yagudin, Stojko and others). Just pure perfection

Midori's jump is much higher than Nakano. Midori's landing is firm and steady.

yeah Yukari's is pretty weak, her lack of height is the worst part. Only Mao Asada can do a true triple axel nowadays (even then she occasionally two foots, but the rotation is there).

I concur; Mao's 3A looks so easy and effortless. Because of her small frame, jumping ability, and petite size she is able to get the height, power, and distance to make her 3A seem effortless. Midori's 3A is just a world apart from ANYONE else's! I think that Yukari and Kimmie's 3As really rely on quick rotation (most of Kimmie's jumps rely on that.) Not so much height or distance.

I agree with you, lutz. I also like Midori Ito's exceptional skating ability as well as the increase height of her jumps. If she had her way, she would set a world's record for the highest distance of her jumps while performing her triple axel. Also I see that Tonya and Midori shares similar body type and physical status.

nowadays, in order for jumps to be "counted", judges seem to overlook cheats .... like miki ando ... all her quad salchows that i've seen look cheated! Midori and Tonya are real jumpers .... Tonya does look like she's gets rather unstable and off axis but still ... full rotation .... the new girls that get high artistic marks are very tiny girls with quick rotations and little cheats

Actually nakano's was cheated on the take off and on the landing her blade on her left boot didn't leave the ice until it was facing forward and it was a 1/4 turn cheated. So who ever ratified that jump was obviously blind

You're supposed to cheat the beginning with the toe pick- that's the accepted axel technique.

This commentator comentaiter says "nakano is rolling faster than Midori",but there is only way to say in that way, because Midori's jump is higher than any other girls.

I agree with Rose- to say that there are ladies' skaters doing the 3A is to accept that officials allow them to cheat the rotation just enough to squeak out the landing- until we see a current skater able to match what Midori or Tonya Harding could do with this jump, it's just not fair to compare them.
