  • WHY would anyone post a video of a SPEAKER with that obnoxious irritating sound drowning out what he says? Its not rational or helpful

  • john 3:16

  • He is a false teacher. His title isn't even Pastor or Minister. There are some truths in there but much of it is unbiblical. Like how he thinks Jesus will ask only that one question. And just because you get emotional from this doesn't mean it's the truth. Only some is. Research it.

  • @theresaelsmore So we're not suppose to get emotional about the truth? Those aren't emotions I'm feeling, it's the Holy Spirit working faith in me.

  • @theresaelsmore Also, yes he is a minister/pastor/priest. He graduated from St. Frances University in Loretto, Pennsylvania. He has a theology and philosophy degree and a minor in Latin. Research it, idiot. This man has reached millions of people with God's love, you should be celebrating that. Also, your comment is extremely falsifiable. I would suggest writing your arguments in a more logical coherent manner that pinpoints the premise you are trying to establish. :)

  • @automattek91 I'm not celebrating a man who isn't saved and isn't teaching how to be saved. He never mentioned once in his biography on his official website that he was saved or born again by Christ. And you can't be a Minister, Pastor, Priest, Philosopher, and Theologan all that the same time. Protestantism and Catholicism are very different. He would be arguing against himself with doctrine in his own sermons if he even took a theological stance and didn't go by his own understanding.

  • @automattek91 1 John 4:1; 2 Timothy 4:3-4; Daniel 2:27-28

You have to look at both sides to discern...

  • @theresaelsmore I don't think you understand the role of a priest. He is the Catholic form of a pastor and minister. They all have the same initial meaning. This man has been saved by Christ through means of baptism. And yes you can be a philosopher and theologian at the same time. There IS such a thing as graduating with a degree in "Philosophy" and "Theology". That doesn't mean he's going to hell. He is telling people that they are saved through Grace alone -- Ephesians 2:8

  • As to any more argument, it is useless to argue means of faith. Jesus says "even if you have faith the size of a Mustard Seed, you will be saved" - Matthew 17:20. His own understanding and intuition is Scripture-based. Also, being baptized is being born again by Christ. To me, your understanding of "how to find and preach about Christ" is quite shallow. It sounds to me that you do more condemning than praising -- 1 Thessalonians 5:11. I find it meaningless to argue with Mennonite-boggots. Peace

  • Your an idiot, get an theological education, or at least a child's knowledge of the history of the Christian faith and doctrine, and if you have one then go and re-read basic church history. "And you can't be a Minister, Pastor, Priest, Philosopher, and Theologan all that the same time." Ever heard of a guy named Augustine? Or Aquinas? Didn't think so....

  • @gertrudebyrd21 Yes I have, I actually read a lot of their writings in my philosophy class in college, and neither were truly born again Christians because their writings showed they clearly didnt know scripture, and when you're born again, you have discernment to know which denomination, if any, you will choose. With that discernment that comes from God you will certainly not choose all of them. Read your scripture, not your history books. Jesus is the one who brings true wisdom and knowledge.

  • @theresaelsmore Did you really just argue the Augustine and Aquinas were not "born again Christians? Since you are a fundamentalist when it comes to scritpure I detect, then tell what does scripture say are the qualifactions for being "born again?" Then tell me EXACTLY how Aquinas and Augustine are not born again, because they were baptized knew the scripture if u have auctually read them. Having studied them for years u are the first person I have ever met to make such a far fetched claim

  • @gertrudebyrd21 The bottom line is I think it's dangerous to quote people like Brennan Manning in sermons as he has written books in which he quotes people of all kinds of religions and takes them as good teachers to follow. This is not the source of all knowledge, the bible should be the center. It can lead someone down the wrong path. If you believe all denominations teach Christianity right, that's your belief. But I see a few that go against scripture. That's my point, that's it that's all.

  • @gertrudebyrd21 I don't need to defend what I believe and neither do you. I just think this man's preaching can be dangerous. He says a few big statements in this one video alone that really contradicts the bible. And I'm sure if you've read it enough, you'd know it.

  • @theresaelsmore I do agree however that true discernment comes from Jesus alone, this however does not mean that Jesus cannot speak through us to others (such as Augustine and Aquinas). Every preacher, lay christian, and theologian alike in the world regularly states and prays for Jesus to speak through them daily

  • @gertrudebyrd21 Listen, I can argue with you till I'm blue in the face, but as believers we aren't supposed to do that. I can't know for sure if they're in heaven or not. Who knows. All I know is Augustine was practicing sun worship to his dying day, Auquinas I'm not too familiar with, but I know that God doesn't want us to listen to philosophy as it's pretty pointless and tries to make logic in everything to do with a belief, when a belief always is a belief. You never know it's true or not

  • @gertrudebyrd21 Thanks for acknowledging the discernment thing. Also, I honestly don't know enough about Aquinas and Augustine to say if they're in heaven, and I'm never the judge of that obviously, no one can know. I just read that Augustine was a sun worshipper to his death, so I don't see how he could say he's Christian still. I don't know enough about Aquinas. I won't refute them completely, I just know the bible says that we shouldn't look to philosophy There's danger of getting confused

  • @AreUDumbProductions Augustine was never a sun worshiper, he's the most important Christian in church history outside of Paul and the Apostles, and Aquinas close behind. But having personally had the pleasure to meet Brennan Manning and listen to his complete theology its not as heretical as everybody seems to think it is.

  • @gertrudebyrd21 He reveals things to us

  • @automattek91 So he is none of those things. He is using his own intuition and understanding. Show me some bible scriptures where Jesus teaches teachings or quotes from a mystic, philosopher, or blasphemer , and I'll be more than open to listen to this man's teachings. But as far as I've read, we should stay far away from teachings like that. This guy quoted mystics philosophers and blasphemers in his books. Meanwhile, here's some of the scriptures I found: John 3:3; 2 Timothy 3; Isaiah 55:8-9;

  • @automattek91 Well, your point is garbage, since you couldn't find any scriptures I asked for. Surprise, surprise. Good luck searching for it.

  • @theresaelsmore Well, my point is that Brennan Manning preaches that by believing in Jesus Christ as your Savior, and trusting that he desires you. you will inherit eternal life. If you think that is garbage, my friend, then I pray that one day you will come to a knowledge of the truth. :)

I leave this argument saddened by another Christian's attempt to water down the Church of God by attaining to a legalistic, non-fundamental, means of salvation. God be with you Brennan Manning!

  • @automattek91 Ignorance is bliss, isn`t it. My view of salvation came from scripture, some of which i just showed you, not from a multiple-denominational speaker.

  • Great sermon. Jesus is the answer. Jesus is the way. Jesus is.

  • I've been preaching for 32 years. I have NEVER heard such a compelling message. He is dead on ....

  • This clip is an advertisement, a trailer if you will. For an event, that cost $25. That seems wrong to me. You shouldn't have to pay money to hear the message of God's love. Read the book (The Holy Bible I mean) yourself, stop looking for other people to give you the answers. Tickets are for theatrical productions and entertainment shows, not sermons. If it was just about spreading God's love, then it would be free. God is not a product to be marketed for financial gain.

  • @emont504 I agree, but sometimes holding an event means that a suitable location has to be reserved and paid for and security guards have to be paid for in order to satisfy the local jurisdictions requirements have to met. If the people holding the event do not have the finances themselves then they may want to invite someone with the intention that if everyone forks in the main aim (getting closer will be met).

  • A Wolf in Sheeps Clothing!! DONT FOLLOW HIM, READ YOUR BIBELS (KJV)!!

  • Comment removed

  • @diewahrheitistnochda why is it that christians always have to shout about wolves. What he has said right now does not differ from the word at all. If you really believe in the greatness of God then pray for him and watch God's glory manifest in his life. I am so over christians who continuously lob bombs into other camps - no wonder non-christians want no part, all they can see if this in-fighting.

  • @summersunt you dont understand. its about warning you and others. it sounds so great what he is saying but at the end it is a lie! this guy is a false teacher and not a christian. to understand please watch this man:

    watch?v=8iOHTL7H0P0&feature=related

  • @diewahrheitistnochda what he said is based on Ephesians 3. If you say that this is a lie then you are trying to say that G-D is a liar and I am sure you wouldn't want to do that now would you.

  • Great book: Ragamuffin gospel. Every christian should read it.

  • Religion is a crutch for the weak-minded.

    George Carlin

  • @riggo4457

Atheism is to irrational for the wise.

    Mikel

  • @riggo4457 .... and that works just fine for me. It's my pride that made me fall -- crippling and wounding me. This man needs a crutch, and is thankful that my loving God provides one.

  • @riggo4457 Perhaps religion is a challenge for the courageous.

  • @riggo4457 Perhaps religion is a challenge for the courageous.

  • @riggo4457 Yeah, that's probably true, at least in part. Gerald May says something like, there's this power that wants to help you, but it's hidden unless you desperately need it or desperately seek it. I've flirted with both agnosticism and fundamentalism. But mysticism is where it's at, I'm tellin' ya. At least, that's what I believe right now. The power that wants to help us is love. And there's almost no point to describing it, because this is the sort of thing that has to be experienced.

"Did you believe that I loved you? That I desired you? That I waited for you day after day? That I longed to hear the sound of your voice?"

The real believers there will answer, "Yes Jesus, I believe in your love and I tried to shape my life in response to it." But many of us, who are so faithful, in our ministry, in our practice, in our church-going are gonna have to reply: "[clears throat] Well frankly, no sir, I mean I never really believed it.

  • I made a transcript of this: it's going to take a few comments to get in all.

    Part 1

In the forty-eight years since I was first ambushed by Jesus in a little chapel in the Allegheny mountains of Western Pennsylvania and then literally the thousands of hours of prayer, meditation, silence and solitude over those years I am now utterly convinced that on judgement day the Lord Jesus is going to ask each of us one question and only one question:

  • I don't care what sect of Christianity he is from, he preaches the love of Christ like no other preacher I heard before.

  • Huh?

  • This dude is a catholic???

    Catholics believe in Jesus now????

    Crazy world

  • If what he says doesn't say it all, then I don't know what else will......That's the most powerful yet simple way to proclaim the Gospel to a lonely, dark, tired, and hurting world.....Jesus Christ longs to know us now and not when we "get it together", anything else is just a lie from Lucifer himself....

  • if you wonder what the "gospel" is.....this is it.

  • Brennan's book, "The Ragamuffin Gospel" so elevated and inspired my outlook towards God and my on faith that I really felt truly and unconditionally loved for the very first time.

  • Repent and believe!

Repent -- from trying to please God by being a moralistic, self-righteous, religiously driven, rule following a-hole

Believe -- that I (God) love you, always have, always will, that I'm crazy about you, died and ROSE for you and even on your absolute worst day, even when you reject me, I don't reject you. I am trustworthy, indeed!

    There's the good news.

Jesus' love transforms. Religion makes hypocrites and haters.

  • @kolainca Amen!

  • @kolainca great point! although It seems that sin makes hypocrites using Religion to its advantage. But not religion itself. But I don't think that was the point you were trying to make anyways. but blaming religion for hypocrites is like blaming a coffin for dead people. But great point!

  • No matter who wrote what in which religious text, we can choose to go within to our own hearts to hear the truth that we are all One. We can choose to bicker about who is right and who is wrong, or we can choose to live our lives with good intent and embrace one another as fellow souls on one heck of a journey. Love one another ♥

  • The Bible, along with all other ancient religious texts, is a source of great wisdom and spiritual truth IF we put our literal intellects to one side and intuitively grasp the metaphores - not many of us can do this (self included). Added to this, the forefather's of the Christian faith (and religious leaders of other faiths) had their own set of aims and objectives which meant they tweaked and twisted those truths for the sake of conditoning the 'followers' thereby gaining social control....

  • & As for ldy gaga...more like..."ldy CaCa".

  • @Naturalllee So refreshing to see some one other than me dropping the right comment in the wrong place lol! (Laughing with love) ♥

  • Yes!

  • God bless His servant, Brennan Manning, who boldly speaks the truth our hearts and souls long to hear, and indeed the only truth that sets us free from all the baggage and guilt and garbage keeping us down, sets us free to love God in return so completely and fully that it is our own heart's desire to honor and serve Him. This, not guilt, not shoulds and oughts, is how God's love in Christ is manifest and indeed how it needs to be preached. Forget the stick, we only need the carrot!!!

  • Google Beware of Wolves in Sheep's Clothing by

    Mike Gendron.

"STUDY to show thyself approved to God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed..." 2 Tim 2:15

  • Acts 11:9

Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.

  • No Scriptural basis for his message? What Bible are you reading...or apparently need to read a lot more of? 1 John 4 is a loaded chapter, God IS love. It's his very being. "We love because he FIRST loved us." "Perfect love casts out all fear, for the one who fears has not yet been perfected in love because fear involves punishment." I'm not saying we don't need to turn and believe, that we don't need to carry our cross, but we need to start in the right place. Thank God for Brennan.

  • Name ONE sermon in Scripture that started with God loves you (and has a wonderful plan for your life). God is indeed love, but he demonstrates his love, not with a blanket "I love you all" but by sending his Son to die for us (Romans 5:8). When we repent at the cross, we receive grace and mercy from God. Rather than daring the American church to believe God loves them, how about daring them to believe that we are to be holy, set apart for God's glory.

  • Obviously you have not read this man's book, and you certainly are not familiar with the Bible. You think because you have love for Jesus your days of sin are over? FOOL! You are a sinner every day of your life, and it is only through the Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ that we have a chance. He is our Saviour as Manning points out --clearly-- in his book. Your self-righteous pride blinds you. Do not look down your nose at those people who point out God's Grace is divine.

  • Human are not replicas of god,but we do share certain common characteristics with god.God is all knowing, all powerful, all present, perfectly good, holy, and loving. We are not.But like god,we are spiritual, rational, emotional, communicative, and moral beings. We have dignity, purpose, and meanings. And we can feel the bond of personal relationships..

  • Where's the Scripture to back up his claims? God loves us as we are?? There is no Biblical basis for this. God's love moved him to send his Son to die for us so we could be born again, rescued from God's wrath and made into NEW creations. Humanity's problem is NOT a low self-esteem, it's an obsession with ourselves and an ever-growing desire to fulfill our sinful desires. Would you be shocked to know that Jesus' first message was REPENT (Matthew 4:17), not God loves you?

  • @mopseth

when was the last time you read the bible?

How is that unbiblical? Because just saying the words "i repent" don't get you into heaven. Notice how he never said "God loves us as we are"

And do you want to know why no one in the church steps up to serve or do some ridiculous for Jesus? It's because they are too afraid of becoming exposed, they don't want people to find out they're sinful. So Brennan is saying do we really believe what God did for us is all we need?

  • God bless Brennan Manning. He truly understands God's grace.

  • this man is such a sweetheart.. his words always make my knees go weak. God speaks volumes through him and it is so, so, so intense.... love just radiates..... all we need to do is read it and let it speak to us...wow... thank you Lord for Brennan.

  • I read SIGNATURE OF JESUS and had some problems with it.

I just finished reading WHY WE'RE NOT EMERGENT by Kevin DeYoung and Ted Kluck and it helped clear up a lot of my questions.

  • Is seems to me even the worst heretic has some good things to say. Guilt by association is something we see a lot in politics. Let's be very, very careful before we use if for a fellow Christian.

  • Aquele que não ama não conhese a DEUS porque DEUS é AMOR!!!

  • This man knows God.

  • i dont think anyone claimed that brennan manning saved them.

the christ he described is correct though.

no matter what youve done, he always loves you the same.

this is the real jesus christ.

    unconditional love.

like a father to his child.

    except even better.

  • This is just awesome and life-changing if you can get hold of it. I watched this twice a night or more for the first week after I found it, and watched Kingdom Works a few times through too. Love his books, but the passion comes through more strongly in the videos. Wish there were more!

  • you can alway tell when a person preaches the real gospel of Jesus Christ

because so many so called Christians will come against it...

you think you doing the work of God, but it is only the god of your dead churches that you serve

  • This man is a deciever. Check the gospel.

  • Ah, the drive-by attack. You got the guts to point out something specific, or you just gonna make a statement like that and run?

  • This really seems strange. A liberal calling a conservative a "drive-by attacker" Very strange.

However, I will answer your angry comments with specifics.

Read the following passages from the Holy Bible just for starters:

    2Corithians 3 and 4

    2 Corinthians 13 and 14

John 4:16--pay special attention to this one. You cannot seek God except through Jesus. That is if you are a Christian.

Bless you brother. I hope you overcome your anger.

  • Ummm ... you posited no real arguments. You need to express what non-orthodox thoughts he said in this video that would justify your judgment that he is a deceiver.

When did Manning - in this video - express that Jesus was not the Way, Truth or Life?

And how do you know "drumladd" is a liberal?

You offered no justification to label yourself a "conservative". Just inference and assumption.

You call "drumladd" a brother - is that the way you talk to you real brothers?

  • All I stated is what the Bible says.

    Judge for yourself

  • Well, I respectfully disagree. Where in your criticism did you cite specific places where he intentionally meant to deceive and draw others from the Orthodox Christianity - more to the point - where he is drawing people away from Jesus?

    Hey - disagree! It's healthy.

But to make an ad hominem argument that "it's in the Bible - look it up" doesn't prove anything.

The verses you suggested give us nothing to go on. I honestly don't see the connection. My question is: have you read Manning?

  • I do not think these explain anything, especially John 4:16. Not sure why everyone hates on Manning. For clarity, what do you not like about his teachings? Is it the lack of emphasis on works?

  • Oops, the verse is John 14:6, not 4:6.

    Typo error.

  • God bless!

    I love it, true faith!!

  • love it!!!

  • Such a blessing, in the midst of reading some of his books, and i have been BLOWN away by Grace!

  • Wish he was my grandfather!

  • The Ragamuffin Gospel helped to transform and save my faith Before that book, I was in such a dark place with my faith when I was a pastor and finishing Bible college. Fr. Manning was the first calm voice to reveal through scriptures the unprecented and radical love of God. I would have to put the book down often as I fell to the floor crying to God. I have never been the same since.

  • @mattmew28

Hiya Matthew it was lovely to hear your testimony on Mannings impact on you from his book. I have just recently read his book and share your experience..i'm still crying intermittently as the days go by. All the best to you and may God make you able to continue receiving more of his lovely grace and love! Madeline.

  • Folks, my mother is close to death, unrepentant, bitter and angry may I please ask that everyone here please pray for her, ask god to move in her life in a mighty way and open her heart to his love.

Please ask others as well, I simply cannot loose my mother eternally.

    Thank you all very much!

  • thank you for speaking the good news of Jesus Christ the Saviour of the world

  • i'm reading "ragamuffin gospel" right now and it is the most refreshing work i've read in a long time.

it was so nice to finally hear brennan manning's voice.

    this was so great.

    thank you.

  • All my life I have tried and tried and tried to find that relationship with Christ that so many others seemed to found.

Then I heard these words by Brennan about the one question Jesus would ask us, "Did you believe that I loved you" etc.

As I began to comtemplate these words and listen to this mini sermon I have finally found and understand his love.

I had to believe and know that he loved me as I am.

My life has finally begun to change.

    Thank you Pastor Manning

  • Your post made my heart swell. I am glad for you.

  • Thank you for you courage and strength at posting this. It blessed my night to read.

  • that was 4 questions dude.

  • dude, please don't be so nit picking that you miss the point. God loves you

  • Not it was one question. The thought was expanded and deepend by the further comments. But as Marsden said, don't get stuck up in the grammar, hear the point. I can't help but cry just knowing how much God loves me, it's unspeakable. No words truly could express the depth of His love.

  • Some have missed brother Mannings point, scripture is more then a careless topical reading.

I have had Scripture come to light many years after having read them.

This is what scripture is all about, a message for each and everyone of us, some meant only for us others to share as the spirit reveals.

And EasyE1385, of all the teachings I have heard throughout my life, and some were very good, This one has brought me closer to the love of God than any other!

God's word is more then printed words!

  • i would ask jesus or god why if you have such power, love insight etc why did u make it a little easier to know u?

  • Father Manning is so right - Jesus chases after us with a love that we just will never understand, but if we could, it wouldn't be love.

  • After ten years as a 'believer' I have only just come to believe this. I hit a very low point and had to admit to God that I didn't trust Him. He said 'I know and I have loved you still' Changed everything for me that day. Thank you God.

  • I want to believe, but I can't believe, "That I love you just as you are."

  • What God asks of us is to trust him, come to Him as a child.

    Joh 3:16, Joh 4:14-26, Joh 8:11, 2 Cor 12:9, 1 Joh 1:9, 1 Joh 2:2

Knowing His love, will produce the response Brennan gave "Yes Jesus, I believe in your love and tried to shape my life as a response to it." Which is an echo of Rom 6:15.

"My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." -- Our Lord

  • Yeah, I get it. I just can't believe it. I want to believe it (at least I *think* I do), but simply can't.

  • I'll keep you in prayer! :)

"And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!" Mark 9:24

  • huh? speak english.

  • Yes, Yes, Yes!! This is Jesus' teaching. Read ""Ragamuffin Gospel". Christ was about acceptance. No, it's not about running wild and out of control, doing anything you want for self. It's about coming as you are and walking in a relationship with Christ, knowing that He loves all, accepts all, forgives all. I believe in love. God is love. Christ is God. Believe.

  • Is this available on DVD somewhere?

  • More repentance is needed in this video.

  • The scriptues tell us repentence is not something we can just decided to do on our own but rather it is a gift from God we receive. It is His kindness that leads us to repentence and to get there we must first come to the throne of grace. Let us not lose the context of Brennan's message which is to the church... he's not speaking to unbelievers here.

  • I was sure that is what he was asking to those who didn't believe Jesus loved them. Do you need to hear the word repent?

  • This man saved me, if i never saw this, i may not have started to turn my Christian life around and shape up my walk with Christ

  • hrist saved you, not Brennan Manning

  • "I am deeply distressed by what I only can call in our Christian culture the idolatry of the Scriptures. For many Christians, the Bible is not a

    >> pointer to God but God himself. In a word-bibliolatry. God cannot be

    >> confined within the covers of a leather-bound book. I develop a nasty

    >> rash around people who speak as if mere scrutiny of its pages will reveal

    >> precisely how God thinks and precisely what God wants."-Brennan Manning,

    >> Signature of Jesus, pp. 188-189>

  • Brilliant stuff! Cannot understand those who say he is not true to the Word. This is the most biblical presentation of God I have ever heard! I guess the religious have always found it hard to hear the Spirit of truth.

  • Im sorry 2row777 but Im afraid im going to have to disagree. I feel father brennan has torn the gospel from the petty confines of the english translations of the word and has established it into what it was always meant to be, God's relentless grace for an undesering humanity...period. Even if he has swung a little too far left for the likeings of the church, it is a refreshing swing. God reveals himself to us differently through stages and seasons, this is a season of grace, swim in it.

  • Certainly not to be argumentative, but out of curiousity, I'm wondering; What are the contradictions?

  • Thank you to the two friends who sent this to me. BM is a blessing and is so needed in the Body today!

  • Hi there,

Just to say thank you my Father for bringing this man across my path, that I might find a Jesus that I never heard preached in the pulpits in my formative years.

I've read three of his books and together with these videos has revolutionised my understanding of Jesus. I am no longer a Pharisee, I have had to apologise to so many people, bu, hey, it's worth it.

Thank you my Father, thank You my Saviour and thank You Holy Spirit for leading me to this man.

    I love you Lord

  • Absolutely true. Jesus pursues us with a love that we cannot escape, even if we ignore it. He places people in our path who show it, who live it if we won't listen to His own voice telling us how much He desires us. I've watched this video hundreds of times and it still chokes me up when I think of just how much Jesus Christ wants me to trust Him and fall into His outstretched arms in order to experience the peace he has for me. Amen, Brother Manning!

  • this is good, people who are not a chr

    istian can become a christian

  • I have so appreciated Brennen's writings and his ability to communicate the heart of "Abba Father." I read "The Signature of Jesus" in 1997 and I was wrecked by the revelation of God's "furious" love for me... still am actually!

  • halle-freakin-lujah brotha

  • this is the truth, trust in him, jesus

  • If I'm honest with myself I must admit that I have not always really, truly bel;ieved that jesus loves me. Reflecting and meditating on this truth really is powerful...Praise God.

  • an inconvenient truth... for many!

  • That was powerful!

  • The music in the background is distracting.

  • Amazing stuff.

  • Amen!

  • powerful

  • Awesome, "The Ragamuffin Gospel" a classic.

Amamzing man, wonderful teacher of Gods love.
