THAT SAS survival hand book at the end ... ive noticed that their are about 3 different covers for the same book, does that mean they are the same book or different?
My Internet connection went down once. When it came back 10 minuets later I was injured, dehydrated and covered in feces. I was also really really bored. This stuff is no joke people. Print bontony guides, print kung-fu manuals, print porn. Also google your blood type and shoe size. If you have space in your panic room keep a log of the names of people you're related too and some phrases which aren't neems, in case the crisis drags on and you have to talk to them.
Dont forget maps. I got local maps and print outs from google earth in detail of my immediate area. Good for finding useful water sources like garden ponds and schools, libraries, more knowledge :) scrap yards, garden centres etc. If the world has ended and that house is empty now, that garden pond or greenhouse will come in handy :(
And a 100 year calender. A bit out there but would be good for planning crops. Easy to lose track of time when its not on your phone, tv or papers.
I find the best way to protect sensitive documents is to use a fireproof safe. In the event of a fire or a flood your documents are kept safe and dry/undamaged.
I'd suggest you (or anyone viewing this) check out youtube user USNERDOC. He's got some great videos and he's posted some good information on first aid. Downloadable pdf's.
Thank you, rick, for this wise tip! I've been printing almost everything I can get my hands on, even if there's very little likelihood I'll ever need the info, I'd rather have it on paper. I guess I'm just one of those old fashioned gals, LOL! Thanks for posting!
Instead of making so many hardcopies of valuable information, I suggest that you save the information to a 16 gig flash drive. You can even copy the infromation on one flash drive to several so that you have backups. You can have eternal power for your laptop using solar energy. There are portable solar energy devices that you can store in your backpack along with your laptop or palmtop. Also, stash food in places away from your home. Bury cache's of food in untraveled areas.
Hi John, afraid I have to disagree with you on this particular one :o)
I'd be EXTREMELY nervous about locking such valuable information away on any kind of electronic device for several reasons, not least of which is that laptops are delecate and may easily get broken in a crisis scenario. Also an EMP, or a powerful enough solar flare (which NASA have predicted for 2012) could mean this life-saving data is lost forever.
There's a lot to be said for good ole fashioned printed paper :o)
some really good points here. A lot of people don't even consider preserving knowledge and information when thinking about survival and emergency preparedness. Great video as always, thanks for posting.
Wow! Great video Rick! You touched on things I had never even considered regarding 'survival' in times of crisis! PLEASE...Keep these informative videos coming!
wow, i would have never thought about that! if i get more printing paper i will do that, cuzz we do get hurricanes as i have said be for and when they do come. if there bad we some times lose internet for weeks.
I find I get nearly all my information from the internet now. I honestly haven't thought about if the net became unavailable. A very scary thought actually.

This video series is excellent, really insightful as well as thought provoking when it comes to preparedness in general. Excellent work Rick!
Btw, what is the music you used that can be heard clearly at 2:13?

Lofty Wisemans book is the bible of survival. I have the pocket version and it's only a few quid on eBay. Everyone should own it.
