@ARTURizTAGANA abrums tank has manual loading because it was decided that was more reliable than the autoloading systems. You dont need a ton of different shells, HEAT and depleted uranium rounds that we use work well for anything. We have canister shot also but its not good to take less anti-tank munitions.

They design Ru Tanks to present the smallest frontal area possible. But, you are wrong if you think an M1A1 is a Cadillac inside--its TIGHT. from the TC's position my knees are on my gunners back. But the big advantage is I have a loader..the tanks go-to guy. He has his own weapons station an extra MG. But no tank is really designed for comfort. But my main gun can elevate higher and depress lower than a T-90's. meaning I can get into a better hull down position FACT.

Im not exactly sure how the t-90 stacks against the abrams or challenger. but what i do know is that i can swim, and that i only costs 2 million to manufacture, outside of armor, it is on par with ever other western design, but they can manufacture 3 of these for ever 1 of our abrams.

Those logs are for many reasons. The main reason is so they can be jammed under the tracks in the event the tank ever gets stuck in mud or whatever. And they can also be used to hack off small pieces and start a fire for food, if you must spend the night on battle field.

The problem with the russian army is that they continue to build weapons based on cold war tactics. The Problem with that is all the civilized countries will end up working together in the next major world war. Fighting a common enemy. They need to focus on the true enemy in the wourld.

The "mainstream" of Russian weapon design are simplicity, universal usage in most situations, cheap production, maintainability in field environment (by a crew force) and competition by most parameters and characteristics with ANY competitor in a weapon development area from ANY state. And, of course, Russia traditionally builds its' army for REAL war with REAL enemy, not for combats against uneducated, weak armies without modern weapon systems.
If you don't know, Americans deeply studied Russian experience of tanks usage in urban combats in WW2 and in Chechen wars. I know it, because one my friend (the real officer or tank forces) had discussions with cadets from West Point Academy (or something like it)... The Russians REALY have best tank usage tactics for ALL situations. You should not argue with Iraq or 1-st Chechen War examples, because it all was WRONG usage of tanks, NOT by proven Russian tank usage tactics!

There are specialized magazine in Russia "Tanks on battlefield" where you can find all analytics about tank usage in 1-st Chechen War, 2-nd Chechen War and in S.Osetia. Most of tank loses in 1-st Chechen War was in situations without infantry support...
At second: at 2-nd Chechen War Russains lost only 4 (FOUR) tanks by all campaign! The difference with 1-st war was dramatically because in 2-nd was used old, proved and tested tactics from WWII, created by experience in Stalingrad, Praha and Berlin urban fightings and tank usage in a town. Many tank losts in 1-st Ch.War was because that tactics WAS NOT used how it HAVE to be used! But it is question not of "T"-series quality or weakness, but of COMMON weak campaign organization in 1-st Ch.War...
At last, as for Russians tanks in Chechnia, as for Abrams and Challengers in Iraq most tank loses was by the cause of land mines ("fugases") and "traps" with "small RPG-troops". The T-90 has 4 advantages: small size, Agility, Refleks, Shtora.

They design Ru Tanks to present the smallest frontal area possible. But, you are wrong if you think an M1A1 is a Cadillac inside--its TIGHT. from the TC's position my knees are on my gunners back. But the big advantage is I have a loader..the tanks go-to guy. He has his own weapons station an extra MG. But no tank is really designed for comfort. But my main gun can elevate higher and depress lower than a T-90's. meaning I can get into a better hull down position FACT.

it doesnt matter how far the range really is, its the ability of the crew that counts. our abrams can engage targets up to 4km away, does it mean it will hit it? probably not because its still a human whos pulling the trigger and tracking it. its firing a small super fast metal slug. its all down to the crew, get a bunch of conscripts in that tank and have it go against a veteran abrams crew and that high tech t90 will go down

Im not exactly sure how the t-90 stacks against the abrams or challenger. but what i do know is that i can swim, and that i only costs 2 million to manufacture, outside of armor, it is on par with ever other western design, but they can manufacture 3 of these for ever 1 of our abrams.

The Russian version of the T-72, T-80 and T-90 are all good tanks as the Russian domestic versions are a different creature to the export tanks. A key example is when the Syrians ordered the T-72, the Russians instead of putting in the Boron Carbide epoxy composite in, put in a layer of concrete. The Syrians weighed the first two they order and they were on spec and did not check the remainder, this was not realized until the Israeli's disposed of them. Buy Russian get burnt, both ways.

Those logs are for many reasons. The main reason is so they can be jammed under the tracks in the event the tank ever gets stuck in mud or whatever. And they can also be used to hack off small pieces and start a fire for food, if you must spend the night on battle field.

The "mainstream" of Russian weapon design are simplicity, universal usage in most situations, cheap production, maintainability in field environment (by a crew force) and competition by most parameters and characteristics with ANY competitor in a weapon development area from ANY state. If you don't know, Americans deeply studied Russian experience of tanks usage in urban combats in WW2 and in Chechen wars. I know it, because one my friend (the real officer or tank forces) had discussions with cadets from West Point Academy (or something like it)... The Russians REALY have best tank usage tactics for ALL situations. You should not argue with Iraq or 1-st Chechen War examples, because it all was WRONG usage of tanks, NOT by proven Russian tank usage tactics!

It's ironically that the Russians learn now lessons that the Americans learned in the 60s when it comes to tank design, don't use too much technology or too radical ideas because they most probably won't work! The real problem is that none of these tanks other than the challenger 2, merkava series and the abrams series have any real success in urban combat. The T series have all failed in urban combat. I would like to belive that my russian brothers will be able to confront the new threat in the world with new tactics. Its all about doctrine and tactics that win urban wars.

There are many specialized reports about tank usage in urban combat, unfortunately (for you ;-) ) most of them in Russian language and some of them are still classified. There are specialized magazine in Russia "Tanks on battlefield" where you can find all analytics about tank usage in 1-st Chechen War, 2-nd Chechen War and in S.Osetia. Most of tank loses in 1-st Chechen War was in situations without infantry support...
