@ProtectorsGameGuide The dam may be uncomfortable to wear. But you should tolerate it. You know many dentists don't even bother with it. Its purpose is to isolate the tooth, so once the tooth is open and exposed it prevents bacteria from the mouth and saliva contaminating your tooth resulting in RCT failing. The dentists who just isolate the tooth with a cotton wool will not give sufficient isolation and will result in bacteria getting inside your tooth and treatment failing.

@ProtectorsGameGuide What you do need is a friggin' clue. Rubber dams are used most often during root canal therapy (usually a 2+ hour procedure) and they serve multiple purposes. First, they keep the working field dry, which is important for most dental materials. Second, they keep the patient safe; during root canals, the tooth is often bleached and I highly doubt you'd be interested in swallowing that. Or maybe you would...

I know I'm not a Dentist, nor an orthodontist... but that's not justifiable reason to talk to me like a "friggin'" idiot. Thanks for the knowledge though, I had no idea that they used those for other procedures as well.

@actuashley the treatement tooth isnt bleached its irrigated with 50/50 water and bleach and even if a dental dam wasnt being used i highly doubt that they wouldnt aspirate haha dont be an jack ass, you have no room to be since your obviously ignorant about this part of denstistry
