  • @ryanskapa eccentric vs concentric contractions - at the bottom the muscle is firing but is still being stretched so thats what he was referring to as the eccentric phase

    you got to work really hard then. im 165, and i touch the backboard when doing layups. and ive only got a 23 inch standing vertical. that means youve got maybe some 16-20 inch vertical. youll need over 30 to dunk.

  • im 6"2 16 year old that weighs 175. I havent been training my legs much but when i do.... i go all out. I have been told by so many other brands or people like jump manual that guarantee increase in vertical. Tell me the truth... if i do this, im already able to grab rim, but will i be able to dunk?

  • Do these workouts, you WILL gain a lot, especially if you have never done these kind of plyometrics workouts before. Make sure you eat healthy as well, complex carbs and lean meats.

    plyometrics are usually done before weight training.

    @Kylehintz87 the technique will come by itself once you are strong enough, and your central nervous system are developed enough.

    you might be athletic, but if you have primaraly type 1 fibers (you dont get tired in your muscles fast), you must first "convert" your musclefibers to type two. this is done by heavy strenght training. but technique first.

    i would guess that a pistol squat is like squating (for me, I'm 183 lbs/83kg, with very long legs) 220 pounds/100kg, + requires much more balance.

  • hey ive just discovered plyrometrics but ive been to the gym and ive done a lot of leg exercises before. im 6'1 157lbs and 15 years old my vertical right now is 29 inches. my quads and all the parts of my calves are strong but my glutes and hamstrings are kinda weak. if i work on those muscles how much more could my vertical go up and how do you know when you reached your vertical peak. thank you

  • hey im 16 and almost 6 foot but i dont have a very high vertical. i can dunk 9 feet barely but i want to be able to dunk by basketball season so i have roughly 6-8 months. do you think in this time i can increase my vertical by 12 inches? also, i work out 3 days a week but if i start plyometrics, should i completely cut out leg workouts? (squats, leg press) stuff like that and only focus on plyometrics a few times a week?

    im as tall as you are. and no, thats almost impossible. the smallest guy to ever win the nba slam dunk competition was spud webb and 170 cm, or 5'7 feet, and he was EXTREMELY fit, and had an INSANE vetical (just check out his dunks). but note the "almost" in the first sentence. i have seen vids on youtube with 5,5 guys dunking (165). but to do that you must have been training your whole life, have the right genes, and be extremely fit.

    Hey I have been doing your workouts for 4 weeks and I can now grab rim before I could only grab halfway up the net but I have a question.

    I do all the workouts 1 day a week because I go to the gym and do leg workouts like squats leg press ect so it gets kind of tough to do all those workouts more than once a week but should I absolutely be doing the workouts twice a week or is 1 good enough?

    Also I'm 6ft 175 pounds do you think I will be able to dunk by the end the 12 wks?

    Hey man, i know you must get tired of these questions, but good looking out if you do respond. Ive noticed that people who dunk with ease are springing up there. You actually see the spring. The descent is involved big time im guessing when it comes to vert. How do i get that spring in my jump? How do I get from descent to upward explosion as fast as possible? What is the technique! Everything has a skillset i know it. Help me out sir. im 6'0 155 and athletic as hell

  • All of these work outs, even the other ones in the other videos, is it best to do them all in one day? Or like do the exercises in vid 1 the first day, vid 2 the second day, etc. For the entire week? I guess my basic question is how often should I do them to get the best results?

  • shouldn't you do the plyo parts (split jumps and squat jumps) before the pistol squats... wouldnt you be tired and not be able to max those out?

  • wow, the technique demonstrated here could really get someone hurt. Knees are totally collapsed when jumping and landing. The two pistol squats that were done are each totally different. The one where the heel comes off the ground can really hurt your knees. The glutes would be turned totally off at that point. Holding that at the bottom for most people is a set up for problems, and pretty much only uses the quads.

    I notice when I feel very good i jump 15 cm higher (6 inch)

  • if i stand then try to touch the ground I CAN'T OMG :d but i can dunk i hope if i do some stretching and this excersises i get higher

  • @Ngro3o You can do all 5 parts in one leg workout and it will not be too much volume for you. If you feel fatigued then just break them up in 2-3 days per week.

    PS...I have a 15 & under team and I also have a 13 & under team...will it help my 13 & Under team. I'm going to video tape my players on the first workout and the last workout...to have video analyze on their gains!!! Thanks again!!!

  • @UmojaTWO This workout will help them tremendously...the only thing is, I am releasing one new part to the seven part series per week. So as of now you only have 2 of the workouts (glutes, hamstrings)...As the weeks go on it will be a full vertical jump workout.. I would suggest now that you only have 2 of the workouts to do this 3 times per week, and once I add mroe muscles/volume you can cut it down to 2 days.

  • @UmojaTWO I would suggest you give it about 6 weeks, and you can do it 2-3 times per week.

  • @whiteboyairlines Yes, but you have to be careful that your muscles don't get tired. Then you will not make the gains you are looking for.

  • @xxxKILZxxx Yes it will increase your vertical jump, and when you increase your vert you automatically make gains in your speed because your legs will be recruiting more fast twitch muscle fibers. You will notice the most gains in your acceleration.

  • @dthedancer I would start by just adding it to your leg days. By the end of the 7 part series it will be a full lower body explosive workout. Until then just add this to what you're doing.
