rite doluss, they r expansive, on impossible mode it's better not make them till later, the way to develop with stronghold is to build goblin, wolfs, rocs then behemots (if i remember rite first lev cyclops dwelving cost 20 crystals while behemot lair cost only 10 crystal)

@gluttony32 Why ? Simply because some prefer single player, and some prefer multi player, and let's not forget the mix. The computer can also find the grail more easily than a player so you're taking a specific case here.

@Zanator1 haha well-spotted! It's not really my preference, you can see the dungeon on many of those vids because I recorded all of them on the same small map with an easily discoverable Grail, I think the name is Dead & Buried. It always features a Necropolis and a Dungeon.

@Zanator1 Every Homm3 players think fortress is the weakest race, but its not !! every race has key units you should never loose while exploring and save for final battles . For fortress having a huge pack of gorgons will do ( with the rest of the army of course) but gorgons are the key units . the only weakness of this race is its slowness which you can compensate with a hero that has water magic and cure , then nothing can stop you !

@Remro88 yes i know..... but the lizardmen though they have high health they are kinda bad, and towns that only have a lvl 2 archer are almost surely bound to get shot to death by castle towers.... A siege with fortress is a hard one, becouse it lacks the archers to shoot the enamy to death, and a castle owned by the humans (becouse of theyr many archers_ or tower would surely win agains superior fortress numbers

@Zanator1 Fortress may not be so strong on low difficulties. On high difficulties the game is balanced, because the build-up cost matters. And the lizardmen are bound to be shot by castle towers - so what ? Sieging with fortress is hard - that's true. That's why you MUST have expert ballistics, expert earth magic+earthquake, expert water magic+teleport. This is the reason why these spells appear in Fortress' magic guild pretty often.

Like with the undead (every tower that shoots kills one upgraded lich), towers allways concentrate on the archers, and they dont compensate in flighers, so sieges are hell for fortress....

@Zanator1 Whatever man. :))) However I do agree that it is hard to siege with fortress, but it has a lot of "tools" which make siege easier - high probablility of getting right magic schools and spells. Did not understand what you say about archers. Archers are almost meaningless in sieges. They do 25% damage anyway.

If you siege a castle, and the enamy doesnt come out to fight you, before a portion of the wall gets the 3 strikes necesary to bringem down your 2-3 units fo arches have allready crushed the enemy...

Why do people argue? This is one of the best balanced games in the world. Even if you love titans over all (I love them too), there are for example Fortress players out there that know at least one tactic to just overthrow such a tower army any day. It's all about learning how to use your team, and this goes for all situations.

@Rainborn expert forgetfullness owns Tower pretty bad.Also titan has 40-60 damage,in which case a dragon fly fucks him up pretty bad.Greater Basilisks own Naga Queens pretty bad.Hasted Chaos Hidras > cluster of titans,mages and gremlins,if not cluster then distribute the groups for wyverns,hidras and gorgons.

yes titan's ranged attack is THE best but archangel can do so much more:

- can move anywhere on the battlefield

- revive

- deal lots of damage

- best stats in the game (except for health)

really what is to pay another gem? unless you are a noob you should be having dozens of those, even on hardest difficulty (trust me, i only play on the hardest and never had trouble with resources)

I remember playing the demo when I was 10,that was the first time I played Heroes III, damn it was a hard game!

In the demo, you played Dead vs. Buried as Castle against Dungeon and Necropolis, but all of them had Stronghold's majestic theme. I tell you, nothing is more nostalgic than this. This theme's forever etched into my memory, from all the many times I've heard it.

Titan isn't the most expensive. The most expensive is archangel, but titan is the best lvl 7 creature...But the black dragon is the best in a battle between wizards or magician heroes.

Ancient behemoth is the strongest in melee but isn't the best...his counter is a titan with slayer and precision lol

Firstly, don't rush with them into the centre of battle. Choose the most dangerous enemy stack, attack it with other unit (so it will lose his counter-attack). Then attack it with raiders and back off to minimize the loss of them. simple and effective.

I usually only use the 3 best creatures from a castle and gather the with diplomacy (there are 4 heroes in homm3 that start with basic diplomacy and I always win a multiplayer game with those) and leadership or build other castles and again use their 3 best etc. Maybe I'm a noob but I just always lose the dogs before any other units. Anyway, ofcourse I don't rush them into the center. I just think they suck ass.

Scorpicore. Ciclopes are awesome to destroy

walls and towers (If you have 'Tactics' works better). Raiders are two weak (only 10 HP), I

monarchs/scorpios are fast and flying units and better used vs range units. those two teams have blackdragons supported by minatour kings and hydras by gorgons vs other level 6s and 7s. Using cyclops attack on walls is often a waste considering their damage vs targeting units.

4)Ogres are the backbone of the army. Their primary weakness of being slow is overcome late game by mass haste/+ haste items. No comparison. Crusaders with the right hero have the highest damage output but ogres are more solid all round.

5)Thunderbirds, very easy to tech to. Very fast, good dmg/hp/defence. Gorgons win hands down but thunderbirds are about tied with minotaur kings

1) goblins are one of the worst units in game. upgrade just improves their cannon fodder ability.

2) raiders ARE the best level 2 unit but work better hording them and then using them all in a huge fight.

3)Orcs are average to below avererage. Griffins >>>> ORCS

stronghold is arguably the strongest late game team on XL maps.

Craighack is horribly overpowered with his 5% offence bonuses per level working out at around +1.5% increased dmg per level and his specialty scales as he levels and synergises with the entire army. Most teams late game have balanced damage vs other high +armour/armour skill teams. Behemoths ignore 80% armour and scale so disgustingly with craighack you get near 1 punch kills on any level 7 stack, player vs player.
