I saw Yes here in Sweden last friday. Had seen a few videos of their euro tour before and it seemed quite solid. When it was our turn though it was clear something wasn't right with Benoit's voice and he had troubble hitting the right keys. Turns out he was really sick and in fact they cancelled the tour right after that.
I'm a very new fan of Yes and progrock in general and don't mind Benoit at all, I know he can sing well so it's unfortunate this had to happen. Don't regret going at all tho.
I've not seen the band In Person but I Have listened to cuts from the new CD (on Amazon) & seen Video clips, so in a sense I have seen them & the new guy. Not impressed that much. Is that satisfactory to you? Prob not, but it's fine. Enjoy the new guy & we'll just have to agree to disagree on him being in the band. Take it easy.
lol - blinkered bollocks or not (whatever the hell that is - guess u have 2 b English to know if that's good or bad) ---- I've seen YES a TON of times with JON at the helm & to my eyes & millions of others my friend, YES w/o J.A. at the mic is Not the same thing AT ALL. Take that Mr. "20 Years Between Shows!!" --- it's all good dude, keep the reviews coming!
@aerodude73 Blinkered means narrow-minded and bollocks, well, you have those between your legs if you are a man. I said in the video that I didn't want to hear any "Jon is better" nonsense and you had to go and do it, didn't you? Have you seen the band recently? You should put your prejudice to one side and let the music speak. Just sayin'
@vrooomuk I have to agree. The new album is awesome and the video I've seen is exciting. Although I've never seen the band personally, I've been a fan for 30 years. The band is definitely still Yes, and the changes over the years have certainly helped to keep Yes interesting. W/o Jon it's not the same, but it is still Yes and the band still rocks. Those who turn off are missing some great music, but as long as I like it that's all that matters to me. Great job w/ the videos Vroomuk.
I would have gone just to see steve howe, but tickets were so expensive in the US and the setlist didn't even include the Fly From Here in its entirety.
@vrooomuk Yeah, well were they playing without an opener or co-headliner there? Because in the US they shared the bill with Styx, and because Yes's set was almost always awful (it was probably practice to do well for the European gigs) Styx was actually often better than Yes, because they had the energy.
You mean to tell me you didn't get high before seeing YES? Goodness, what's wrong with this world?!
I saw them a few months ago in the US and I'm also impressed with the lead singer "replacement" (although I've a Jon Anderson altar at home). Steve Howe is a man on a mission and I'm glad everyone in the band are on board with him. When they played ST I so lost my mind people around me asked me if I was OK. I hope YES will play their new stuff when they return to the US! Thank you Mr. Vroo Muk!
@PhilistineTheArtLuvr I'm Mr Straight, I don't get high or even drink at gigs. Never have done and never will. There's only one way to contentment - lead a boring life...
thanks for this review mate. sadly i missed them when they where in my local town. i was gutted. but i glade u enjoyed it. whats the next prog review

Agree with you Darren, loved the singer even though I am a big Jon Anderson fan. Great night and the audience loved them.

@Hanskajalka Yes, my videos get funnier the later it gets and the more times my webcam screws up and I have to record the same thing again.

I saw Yes on the Union tour at the same venue. I thought it was great. The new line-up got a one star review here at the Clyde Auditorium. Sad.
