He can never be much away from our imagination when ever we think of a ghazal guru.As soon as his regal voice ascends the air a state of trance begins to supervene and by the time he finishes he has already given you a guided tour through corridors of love, hope and fear, driving home the point that ,deep down in us,none of these sentiments are mutually exclusive. Meena K was a very sensitive person who went through cycles of pain which she never deserved. Thx dear Khalid.

@saraagas you are right saraagas ji whatever mehdi hassan ji touches become gold wheather its ghazal or song even punjabi folk sometimes.This ghazal is something from another world and made you feel like you are watching film PAKEEZA. Thats what i feel whenever i watched and listen this masterpiece.

Lines are so beautifully writen and its magic of over 10 minutes and made you forget about anything in your mind.

Brother i agree with you there's only one mehdi hassan and he is undisputed king of ghazal. I don't think anyone else can sing this ghazal the way he sung and the composition is LAZWAAL and as you said sound is very clear and awesome, Tabla and harmonium is at their best and the images speaks for the ghazal as you described.This ghazal is flower basket carried all kind of phool. Why we think he's different than the other singers because the qualities you mentioned and that makes him exceptional. you were very close to him and i attended few of his concerts and noticed him very carefully when he moves his eyes around and watched musicians and give them signalS

and very hard on sound recordists and even speaks to them while singing. In this ghazal no other singer can sing like him when he comes at DEKHA QAREEB JAA KAY TOU PARCHAIYAN MILEIN. THANKS AGAIN.

Zaidi sahib the recording i have might be from the same mehfil you were in, He visited my area in September 1997 and distributed audio cassettes in house mehfil and this ghazal is at top of the list.
