If anyone is thinking of keeping a monitor as a pet i highly recommend it they are as smart as a cat , i raised 2 tame spencers monitors very rewarding reptiles. Looking for a lacy now.
First of all this should be in Guinness cause no one has done this ever. Second I can't tell if I'm a perv or a herp lover and third. I do this every sat morning with the wife. Carpet and all. If they would stop resisting it would be much easer.
Absolutely beautiful! On one hand, I'm jealous of AU folk but at the same time I think - I'm FAR away from funnelweb spiders, box jellyfish and a lot potent venom! LOL! Still, this has got to be my absolute favorite large monitor species.
@stevenfolly do you mean 23 times yesterday? Pretty close! They were having a marathon session typical for the first two days of the female's receptive cycle and were mating every five minutes for at least two (close to three) hours. If you were to add up two days like this (plus an addition 5-7 days of less frequent mating) per cycle/clutch, multiply that by two to three cycles/clutches per year and then multiply that figure by the six years since they discovered the rug... ~1000?

Every time I watch videos of your lacies, whether I've seen them before or if they're new, I'm thoroughly impressed and amazed.

i'll bet the reason she likes the rug is its a camo thing. she feels like she blends in with her surroundings.

@papasimian lol. I was contemplating putting some appropriate music in the background. Barry White came to mind.

How many times has that rug been mated on Dave? Always see pictures of them mating on it, my guess would be twenty three times.
