Sure WoW has more players but that doesn't mean its better... For example look how many people use Windows as assumed to Mac yet so many people have Ipods. WoW has high amount of users, because it is a simple game which doesn't require much time or computer knowledge. That's why it is also full of clicker and keyboard mover PvE'rs.

Reviews are skewed. They typically cover 1-20 or 1-50ish to be one of the first to review the game. The first 20 levels are actually pretty nice, there's character immersion, detail, and zones are alive with other players. Beyond that the game struggles, and Funcom knows this given what their announcements have stated on their forums. After playing it for a bit, I still think it's best to wait a few months before picking the game up.
To be fair AoC is the grown up version of wow. It has a lot more detail and has dropped the stuiped cartoon effects. I know people like wow a lot but i have a feeling this game is going to take the older MMORPG players by storm.
have you played the game? read any of the reviews? apparently not. most large gaming sites haven't given official reviews yet, because they haven't hit max level. they, of course, have some qualms with things, but have overall given nothing but praise. also, from a gamer's point of view, it's bringing in 8.5-9. this video is a terrible representation of the game, as it's not taken directly, and rather from a video camera looking at a monitor. also, it's beta footage.

Is it just me, or does playing a spellcaster in this game seem not as fun as combat based? I mean, it looks like just hotkey pressing with a mage except for spellweaving which still isn't very good. Can anyone correct me if I'm wrong or explain how magic combat works?

Coming from someone in the beta, can you intellegently defend the game? I'm neutral to it, it just doesn't seem like anyone has anything intellegent to say about how it actually plays, if the classes feel different or redundant, if the experience system works well, etc. Granted it is a beta, but maybe something can be said?

AoC looks alot like Guild wars but an improvement on it, but it doesnt really have much of a story from what i know, that may be fuk all, but Warhammer online looks so much better than this except for the graphics

I'm going to play WAR instead. Mythic's track record on PvP and RvR is really good in my books. WoW, not so much. Hell, there wasn't even any bonus to pvping at launch, so they basically didn't plan that out at all. And just getting items for PVPing is boring! I like getting points I can spend on new skills, perks, and bonus's to my characters stats. Way more involving, and since WAR is entirely based on PVP with small PVE elements, it's clearly the better choice for me!
Uhh... WAR is just reskinned WoW, all they did differant is focus more on pvp and add more classes to be unbalanced with. And how does WAR not look boring? And about to pvp "skills, perks, and bonus's". You get them in age of conan too.

you can always choose between pets and direct fire or electrical dmg...choose this other thing and you got yourself a fine mage...the point of mage is to be in the back , dealing mass spell dmg to your foes...while your mates who are e.g. melee keeping enemies stick to them
conveant0 the demon couldn't keep the aggro...because they were actually players. As a player you wouldn't just sit there and kill the demon, you might as well go for the source, in this case the demonologist.
As a typical mage chooser, I'm not so sure I'd consider a Demonologist as my main character after seeing this video.
You can see the guy is controlling his summon with commands which is all good, considering it keeps you in with all the motion of the fighting. But, after seeing this I saw that the demon couldn't keep the aggro of the two enemies.
I'm guessing the demon is the guys main form of offence and if demonologists follow the trend of all mages from all games then I'm guessing they will have lower health and defence than many other jobs (Warriors ect). I'm in no way trying to discourage anyone from taking this as a class, I'm pretty sure they will have many uses, but I just want to know if anyone else thought this or should I go hide in a corner somewhere?

How is this going to be more boring than WoW? It keeps you more focus on skillful playing. Have better features. I really don't know what your talking about on this matter. WoW fighting is repetitive along with the quests that don't really entertain you. Kill x creatures for me since I'm the same level but too weak to kill them myself. Click creature shoot fireball, shoot iceball, shootfire ball, instant cast...while standing still the whole time. Yeah your right though AoC is gonna be boring...
Personally I got literally bored outta my mind playing wow. I had a feeling like whats the point int leveling. I hate spending 5-6 hours on a raid to roll for a piece of gear I might not get. Age of conan is gonna have more features, better graphics, more entertaining gameplay, smarter AI. I would think this a big setup from WoW. Once the mmo fanbase find a game better than wow they will rush to it. Hopefully the 17+ and req pc specs will keep the children out.

If you want a good game with real hardcore PvP, risk vs rewards, no instances, full loot and total freedom, then choose Darkfall. If you want Pizza Hut on youre shields, choose AoC. Pathetic.

I agree abit in what you say. Some want what they is used to over and over. My point is that MMORPG games of today is very similar to each other and most is carebear ones. Ultima Online was a player controlled dynamic world from start, Shadowbane also. Games of today is lookalikes, streamlined and simply boring. Im a really old MMORPG veteran and i need higher standards and challenges for the next MMORPG i enter and the only one in development that "on paper" can deliver that is Darkfall.

Shenlong is right, in WoW set-up + Gear > Skill. Originally WoW was aimed at PvE, but ever since they implemented the honour for epics system, they have people HK farming day and night.
AoC will be fresh in the sense that Skill + set-up > Gear. I'm really looking forward to seeing the inevitable fall of WoW in 2008 *insert manic laugh here*.

have you played the game? read any of the reviews? apparently not. most large gaming sites haven't given official reviews yet, because they haven't hit max level. they, of course, have some qualms with things, but have overall given nothing but praise. also, from a gamer's point of view, it's bringing in 8.5-9. this video is a terrible representation of the game, as it's not taken directly, and rather from a video camera looking at a monitor. also, it's beta footage.

Coming from someone in the beta, can you intellegently defend the game? I'm neutral to it, it just doesn't seem like anyone has anything intellegent to say about how it actually plays, if the classes feel different or redundant, if the experience system works well, etc. Granted it is a beta, but maybe something can be said?

Well, 1. this game has a unique combat system that makes it more hands on.
2. The armour, weapons, etc. All look realistic.
3. The graphix are used with the same engine Oblivion is played on.
4. The classes in this game are more unique and typically 100% different then each other.

AoC looks alot like Guild wars but an improvement on it, but it doesnt really have much of a story from what i know, that may be fuk all, but Warhammer online looks so much better than this except for the graphics

Looks kind of boring.
I'm going to play WAR instead. Mythic's track record on PvP and RvR is really good in my books. WoW, not so much. Hell, there wasn't even any bonus to pvping at launch, so they basically didn't plan that out at all. And just getting items for PVPing is boring! I like getting points I can spend on new skills, perks, and bonus's to my characters stats. Way more involving, and since WAR is entirely based on PVP with small PVE elements, it's clearly the better choice for me!

Uhh... WAR is just reskinned WoW, all they did differant is focus more on pvp and add more classes to be unbalanced with. And how does WAR not look boring? And about to pvp "skills, perks, and bonus's". You get them in age of conan too.

you can always choose between pets and direct fire or electrical dmg...choose this other thing and you got yourself a fine mage...the point of mage is to be in the back , dealing mass spell dmg to your foes...while your mates who are e.g. melee keeping enemies stick to them

conveant0 the demon couldn't keep the aggro...because they were actually players. As a player you wouldn't just sit there and kill the demon, you might as well go for the source, in this case the demonologist.

As a typical mage chooser, I'm not so sure I'd consider a Demonologist as my main character after seeing this video.
You can see the guy is controlling his summon with commands which is all good, considering it keeps you in with all the motion of the fighting. But, after seeing this I saw that the demon couldn't keep the aggro of the two enemies.

I'm guessing the demon is the guys main form of offence and if demonologists follow the trend of all mages from all games then I'm guessing they will have lower health and defence than many other jobs (Warriors ect). I'm in no way trying to discourage anyone from taking this as a class, I'm pretty sure they will have many uses, but I just want to know if anyone else thought this or should I go hide in a corner somewhere?

How is this going to be more boring than WoW? It keeps you more focus on skillful playing. Have better features. I really don't know what your talking about on this matter. WoW fighting is repetitive along with the quests that don't really entertain you. Kill x creatures for me since I'm the same level but too weak to kill them myself. Click creature shoot fireball, shoot iceball, shootfire ball, instant cast...while standing still the whole time. Yeah your right though AoC is gonna be boring...

Personally I got literally bored outta my mind playing wow. I had a feeling like whats the point int leveling. I hate spending 5-6 hours on a raid to roll for a piece of gear I might not get. Age of conan is gonna have more features, better graphics, more entertaining gameplay, smarter AI. I would think this a big setup from WoW. Once the mmo fanbase find a game better than wow they will rush to it. Hopefully the 17+ and req pc specs will keep the children out.

wow is great because its the most polished, smooth and well built game there is out there. Its hard to find ANY mmo out there to challenge it.
If any of the mmos that come out this year have minimal bugs and stable servers, wow will definitely take a hit until the expansion comes out.

wow has already taken a hit, play lord of the rings...everybody from that game was a wow-tard until they figured out its not that great of a game. wow is loseing people fast...as soon as they hit top lvl and notice its not that great of a game...they leave. and btw WoW was not a well built game..it had some EXTREMELY bad bugs at the start because they tried to race EQ2, WoW had some extremely long patches to fix those bugs as well..what other games have you played besides wow?

Played WoW for a year before i realized the magnitude of shit that game was. Forever grinding and worthless PvP. AoC and Warhammer is same game in different clothes. Read up on gamefeatures and youll recognize WoW in both these games. Only good MMORPG played was UO from beta til AOS totally ruined it. If you want a good game with real hardcore PvP, risk vs rewards, no instances, full loot and total freedom, then choose Darkfall. If you want Pizza Hut on youre shields, choose AoC. Pathetic.

I agree abit in what you say. Some want what they is used to over and over. My point is that MMORPG games of today is very similar to each other and most is carebear ones. Ultima Online was a player controlled dynamic world from start, Shadowbane also. Games of today is lookalikes, streamlined and simply boring. Im a really old MMORPG veteran and i need higher standards and challenges for the next MMORPG i enter and the only one in development that "on paper" can deliver that is Darkfall.

really the truth of it (for me)was that i enjoyed the whole rpg element in it (i mainly play fps games)but it wasnt really epic or fun enough for me to play,some people just get caught up in the addiction of resources,guilds etc.

Just as every other mmorpg does when something new and possibly better comes out. Look at vanguard, it was a waste the first year,now its ALOT Better and more people are signing up. as for me, im going to AoC because you have to be over 18 to play it. No more kiddies anymore, although its up to the parents for them :P

Shenlong is right, in WoW set-up + Gear > Skill. Originally WoW was aimed at PvE, but ever since they implemented the honour for epics system, they have people HK farming day and night.
AoC will be fresh in the sense that Skill + set-up > Gear. I'm really looking forward to seeing the inevitable fall of WoW in 2008 *insert manic laugh here*.
