  • Excellent Footage on the DVX ! I loved my dvx when I had it.

  • @maskedfilms Thanks. It is an awesome camera. I sold mine almost 2 years ago and got a 7D...which I am about to sell.

  • @stevenbogda Thats cool. What are you thinking about getting? I just shot a promo trailer for an indie film project in Maine on the Panasonic hmc40 and 7D. Will be posting the trailer mid Jan. sometime. The last indie feature I shot was on the dvx100a. It was a GREAT camera!

  • @maskedfilms I have a sneaky suspicion my next camera will be the Scarlet...but not sure yet. I am taking a break from cameras.

  • minidv?? impossible

  • @lauro2220 About 95% is from my old DVX100. I just blew it up in After Effects for the web.

  • The reel is hot! How did you get the HD look out of your DVX100?

  • @Jessiebarnesjr I exported it as uncompressed video (SD) and brought it into After Effects and blew it up to 720P with InstantHD. Looks better on my Vimeo but Youtube isn't bad.

  • What is the song?

  • @gatler05 DJ Shadow - Blood On The Motorway...I think. It has been a while.

  • This is amazing footage

  • @MrNorthernNJskating Neither did mine! I made a SD version then used InstantHD in After Effects to blow it up. It looks pretty decent on the web. I never put it on an HDTV though so I can't speak on the quality of it like that.

  • @MrNorthernNJskating I used a Nikon 50mm and 28mm normally with my DVX. Do you have a 35mm adapter for the camera?

  • killer reel. you have really milked the DVX for all its worth. it looks like some of these shots are from a short fim. Is there somewhere I can see it in its entirety?

  • @zoinkiable Everything was pretty much from when I was in college. Either a project or just random shooting I did when I was bored. I have a bunch on here but they look like garbage due to Youtube's compression. You can see them at Vimeo.com/stevenbogda.

  • 02:06 Danny Devito!!!

  • Hello Steven again. It looks like many of your shots were captured on gloomy casted days...Can you tell me what your in-camera settings were for the dvx on majority of the shots?...gain, 24p normal or advanced mode, shutter speed, nd filters etc? Thank you very much!

  • @billydarector Good eye. I usually shot when there was no sun because it makes it a whole lot easier to work with. Usually my shutter was at 1/60, no ND filter, no gain, 24p advanced. I shot with my scene file dial at f6 usually, but I changed all the numerical values to 0. A lot of the DVX shots from this reel were with a SGpro 35mm Adapter and Nikon lenses. I kept the Nikon lenses wide open and only adjusted the in-camera iris when I needed to.

  • @stevenbogda

One more question Steven...did you color correct before upres or did you upres first and then color corrected? Thanks

  • @billydarector I did all the editing before uprezzing.

  • Beautiful shots! What program did you use in post production to get that bleach bypass goth type of look? I noticed on your website some footage shot without the SG Pro...what program did you use to color the scenes? Any info would be great! Thanks!

  • @billydarector Thanks. I edited everything in Sony Vegas. The colors you are referring to were the result of desaturation and curves adjustments to make the blacks blacker and the lights whiter. Add some sharpening and you are set.

  • @stevenbogda

Hello Steven again. Thanks for sharing. In many of your shots using the dvx and the vids at your website, looks like they were mostly shot on a forecasted day. Can you tell me what majority of the in-camera settings are? Shutter, filter, gain, 24p advanced or normal if you recall? Thanks again!

  • u make me believe in my humble dvx once again

  • Will you tell me what your settings were on your camera?

  • @SilverSenseiStudios I shoot with the dial at scene file f6 and then I changed every numerical value to 0. I left the other stuff at whatever f6 had it at originally (detail levels, color temp etc)

  • loved it! great work!

  • How does this footage look on a 40 inch tv tho? I have also tried uprezzing some footage and itll look nice on here but looks horrible on a 40 inch tv...

  • Only tried on a 32 inch Sony Bravia but it looked pretty nice for SD on a BRplayer.

  • Yeah, that's it!

  • Oh.. Thanks. Another thing one of my friends did to get HD footage from the dvx100 is that he modified it or something, so that it dumps native HD footage on his comp. while he is recording.

  • No problem. It sounds like your friend has the Andromeda modification. If that is so, he is pretty lucky since they don't do that anymore. Is that what he had done to his DVX?

  • @stevenbogda Yeah... Sorry it took me so long to respond. He got the andromeda mod, so in all his camera cost around 6000 with the mod, but it makes similar looking pictures to the 8000 dollar canon xlh1a (which is what i want to get)

  • @weezbert Nice. RIP Andromeda.

  • So what do you gain by enlarging it?

  • It has a larger size on here and on Vimeo without losing much quality. Looks pretty decent full screen on my 22 inch LCD compared to the original file as well.

  • hey. i have a dvx100, and i wanted to know how u up-rezzed. what settings did u use?

  • I used InstantHD in After Effects. I took my uncompressed 720x340 video and enlarged it to 1280x720 and then exported that version and compressed it for the web.

  • dvx100 in hd???

  • @GAskate7 uprezzed, its not true native HD, just looks nearly like it
