I personally feel that iwi that did not sign the treaty should not be allowed to make claims with the Waitangi Tribunal or negotiate with the Office of Treaty Settlements. But our government doesn't care about Maori, and will do anything to keep em in the mud, so those iwi have no choice but to do so.

What has Tama been convicted of? another thing to bear in mind that from a legal point of view, Tama's people didn't sign the treaty so crown law shouldn't apply to him! Their claims are with the Office of Treaty Settlements to my knowledge. I personally feel that iwi that did not sign the treaty should not be allowed to make claims with the Waitangi Tribunal or negotiate with the Office of Treaty Settlements. But our government doesn't care about Maori, and will do anything to keep em in the mud, so those iwi have no choice but to do so.

As a result of this, people make claims to the Waitangi Tribunal because they are forced to use Pakeha law to benefit them. People tell us we have to work within the system, but when the system is designed to make us fail, sometimes people feel they don't have much of a choice. I wish all NZ people would educate themselves more on these matters because they are complex and require an understanding heart to truly discern. But not all Maori are victims, but the media wants you to think we are.

You'd understand if you knew the facts, 94 percent of Maori land was sold in good faith and Maori are being compensated for the 6 percent or 1.9 million acres confiscated via the Waitangi Tribunal. The problem is they're now wallowing in a victim mentality and are making all sorts of ridiculous claims and accusations.

Prove your stats mate. The Waitangi Tribunal actually has nothing to do with Treaty settlements! They are a non-legal binding tribunal! All they can do is make recommendations! Read Ka Whaiwhai Tonu Maatou by Ranginui Walker and tell me that the prices that Ngai Tahu were often forced to accept for their lands were prices contrived in good faith. Look into the Native Land Court Records and tell me if all their findings were just!

Well mana is not spitting and throwing mud, but these things are perfectly legitimate avenues of expressing discontent on the marae. Thats one reason why we have the marae, its a forum for expressing thoughts - regardless of whether one agrees or not.

But if its unacceptable to spit and throw mud on your marae, I apologise, but Tama Iti's behaviour was perfectly acceptable behviour at Waitangi! If Waitangi is your marae then I apologise for speaking out of turn, but generally speaking Tama Iti's behviour is acceptable on the marae.
