this song is special not just because it's only him and the piano , he's barely singing here and the atmosphere on this track is so intense because of that .

I agree that an album of piano and voice would be a wonderful thing from PG. I've discovered the beauty of this direct and personal approach first hand, in appropriating some of his songs for my personal songbook (I play solo piano). Mercy Street works especially well for me. Of course there's "The Flood" .
