Safest Countries to Live in Far Eastern of Asia

The trick is aside from Japan none of these countries are really safe in Western terms. I'm loking for a safe placer to take my 10 year old niece and I'm wary of a list which features Singapore and Korea in the top 5.

I think Vietnam is part of Southeast Asia. East Asia = China, Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and Mogolia.

@Syaelendra mungkin saja bro..kita masih menghadapi banyak gangguan keamanan baik terorisme maupun dari dalam negeri sendiri (seperti kerusuhan,dll).negara yang dari segi ekonomi "mendingan" kayak kita,ternyata masih kurang nyaman apabila dibandingkan dengan laos dan vietnam yang ekonominya gak sebagus kita tapi lebih aman dari tindakan terorisme dan kerusuhan..

Kalau saya amati Korut paling parah sedunia soal kebebasan dalam hidup,Thailand akhir2 ini juga sering terjadi kerusuhan hampir setiap saat karena ketidak stabilan politik dalam negeri nya,kok Indonesia masih kalah dengan Laos dan Vietnam,itu mungkin Indonesia masyarakatnya yang super majemuk juga mempengaruhi nya.Japan masih the best karena memang sudah mapan dalam segala hal,tapi yang saya tahu Demokrasi atau kebebasan di Japan masih kalah di banding Taiwan ,,(senang bs lht senyuman bung Ray)

I am surprised that Laos rated very high while Cambodia and Thailand are not... Anything special on Laos???

@magrittedeau Laos may be not yet develop and prosper like 6 major countries in southeast asia,but they more safer from large conflict if comparing with Cambodia and Thailand,and remember the assessment not only in economic and social issued,but also in security issued. I think laos achieved the highest ranking is more in the aspect of safety and comfortable.if you want to know what the assessment, please you read the info box at the bottom of the screen.

@ned347 this is not crap..this is taken from other source,not only quality of life index...hunger ? since our poverty (below US$ 2) only 17% in 2008 and down to 15% in 2009,there's nothing to say our people live in hunger..even from day to day there's more getting better, you said maybe we have peace,but you like it or not,live in peaceful condition is the dream for everyone..you eat enough,but everyday they are many crimes happened and can take your life wherever you are..
