imagine going to the last planet where the star is and you jump and spin to create your cloud...and it freezes. Thats what happend to me!

Methinks I know why the game freezes. It tries to load a name for the mission when circling over the star. This name doesn't exist and the game thinks "HOLY CRAP WHAT THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO DO NOW?" and freezes. ;)

What I found funny was I did this by accident, you could say, with OUT the star downloaded. When I played the original Perfect Run, I couldn't get past some of the sections without the clouds and just saved them all level xD

If you haven't been notified about this yet, it IS possible with only one cloud. I have done it ;) I was lucky enough to get on top of the house and use the cloud to get it :P

I'm guessing that the green stars are more simple simply because they only have numbers, positions, and which star assigned, they have no particular name.

@Jakerooo123 That's right. It's the same basic principle with the normal stars too, the only real difference is the lack of a name. And the fact that they can be embedded within enemies and the like, where a green star cannot.

I have never seen a video such as this where someone actually filmed "The Perfect Run" mission without using up all 3 cloud platforms by the time they reach the point of Rosalina. You are truly amazing. Nothing is too difficult for you to handle, is it? ;)

It probably is possible to get it with only 1 cloud. Maybe if you triple jump off the roof and spin at the peak of the jump, and then back flip into the star.
