The most versatile singer that India has ever produced was Rafi who excelled in all genres of music and his Western type song which could not have been his forte is all the rage in the Western World. Watch the Heineken Ad that is based on his song "Jan Pehchan Ho" which is getting the most hits.

SJ were pioneers in creating Western Type music and excelled in it while RD was stealing Western songs and modifying it for Indian folks. SJ's song for Shammi Kappor in Junglee was so appreciated that they named a well-known search engine after it and their Jan Pehchan Ho is being used for a huge campaign by Heineken in USA and getting all the accolades.

KK will always remain local and regional. Rafi is global and universal. Check out Heineken's "date" commercial which has over 8 million hits and counting and uses the Rafi song " Jan Pehchan Ho" . Makes me proud to be an Indian. Rafi with Shanker Jaikishen were always lethal.

@jainanki 'Hare Rama Hare Krishna is a chant, not a song from the Kali- Santarana Upanishad. A chant is "recited" and not "sung". And it was recited by many people at the same time for the first time, like the priests recite chants at a ritual, You should first get YOUR facts right before questioning someone else. And before you come up with any arguments, I am a Bengali, native of West Bengal, where the reciting of this chant began and am a follower of the organization ISCKON.
