  • man my ass is sweaty

  • he should look into the definition of logic

  • Matthews is such an Obama asslicker that he would justify Obama barbequeing a baby on the whitehouse lawn if caught.

  • @trigon1962 haha that made me lol.

  • And...WHY does the navy build model ships??? They never answered that one...

  • hahahaha, the notion of Obama turning down the nobel is hilarious; that narcissus couldn't say no to any type of recognition. he LIVES for recognition, it's all he cares about.

  • Is this evidence of an intelligent conversation/host on an American news program? :O There's no shouting or talking over guests... What is this strange place?

  • @Morffin92 It's not all Fox News over here.

  • I wonder what Nobel Prize GWB would be eligible for.... Is there a Nobel Prize for Fucking Shit Up?

  • Working for Peace, whether your fighting for it or not is and always has been a nobel cause worthy of praise!

Obama is doing just that, trying to find a Peace! All the while killing the enemy in larger proportions, by fighting smarter than Bush!

  • @Humaninsoul I lol'd

  • I dont know if people saw the same ad as me, but in mine it was some dude with cancer getting treatment.

  • hitchens should get the nobel peace prize :P

  • JOHN DICKERSON HAHAHA

  • fvck all these advertisements

  • After watching only a quarter of the video, it seems clear that John Dickerson doesn't give a damn about what Chris Isham has to say (3:08), but he is engaged with Hitchens (1:51, 2:05, 3:43, 4:01,4:25). I will continue to watch it, but I appreciate the fact that Hitchens is respected by his "interviewer", because all too often it isn't the case.

  • wow.. fuck this is so old and i dont even know whether Obama accapted or not..

this is back when Hitch still has hair!

  • CBS SUCKS FOR ADDING DELTA AIRLINE COMMERCIALS!

    Hitchens, as usual, is brilliant...

Commercials on Youtube will only cause me to avoid those advertisers such as Delta...

  • Misleading title. This video is a boring mix of some old men droning on about Taliban and some annoying dancing.

    Delete this crap video please.

  • Yes.

  • once barry accepted the noble prize that prize to me lost all meaning, all value, it was shamful and i will never have the respect for barry or the noble prize as i once did.

  • I've watched about 4 minutes of this and it's nothing but babbling about the Middle East. The video is mistitled.

  • Obama is a Keynesian.

  • The ads are TV style...dragging on...

YouTube ads should be snappy and energetic.

  • President Carter got the peace prize too. You know Obama was nominated for the Nobel Peace prize twelve days after taking office. Upon acceptance of winning it, Obama was praised by the committee, "extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy". . They also gave the peace prize to Yasser Arafat, the leader of the PLO, the best known terrorist organization on the globe. This is like giving it to David Duke, the former Grand Wizard of the KKK.

  • A national leader can't turn down a nobel peace prize without snubbing the international community, weakening his position overseas, and taking a pass on an opportunity to define foreign policy while the world's intellectuals are listening.

A year and a half later, and nobody's been able to make political hay against Obama for accepting this prize. Sit down, obamaphobes.

  • @ChollieD Well, I agree with the first part of your statement, and as much as I respect Christopher Hitchens, I feel he does not fully appreciate the negative political consequences of turning down such a prestigious prize (and it is a prestigious prize, regardless of whether some feel the award has not merited its reputation).

  • @writersblock26 some people think it's a prestigious prize, I think that prize is a joke. they gave it to henry kissinger for goodness sake. Looking at the other people they gave it to (including Obama), they're not trying to hide the fact that it's a joke or care about its reputation. And it's apparent that the prize has not affected Obama's policies. But I agree with you that it's not necessary for him to turn it down. I don't think this whole thing is very important anyway.

  • @shwwnn True. I agree with Christopher Hitchens that the Swedish Academy would do better if they added a Human Rights Prize to the Alfred Nobel Prizes. After all, there are many worthy champions of Human Rights who unfortunately get overlooked by the Nobel Committee because their work does not fit the criteria for the Peace Prize. Unfortunately, I doubt that the Swedish Committee has that prerogative, or would even do anything if they did have it.

  • @writersblock26 You mean Norwegian nobel comittee..

  • Fuck Hitchens

  • It will be interesting to see his peace prize be used against him in 2012, since he probably wouldn't have done anything to deserve it by then, either

  • @WellConditionedChimp When has anyone? Its for one's effort and attitude.

  • @iMaDeMoN2012 Well, Kissinger killed fuck loads of cambodians to earn his...so here's to hoping

  • @WellConditionedChimp I don't get it. I'm I supposed to respond to that straw man by defending Kissinger. I have a better idea. You shove a broom stick up your ass and write me a dissertation on gay porn based on your experience.

  • @iMaDeMoN2012 I wasn't expecting you to defend Kissinger. I made that comment to underscore how ridiculous the prize can be, which I thought you implied in your response to my first comment. If you are arguing that Obama somehow deserved it, and you think that the prize is only given before a good deed is done, then I'd direct you to muhammad yunus: he created a bank that lent small loans to the poor in 1983 and received the prize for it in 2006. Clearly an example that counters your claim

  • @iMaDeMoN2012 I'm so sorry. I didn't realize we were having a formal debate until I pulled the broom stick out of my ass.

  • @WellConditionedChimp The more you know *inspirational music*

  • half a billion!!!.

    stupid wasteful fucks!!!!

    grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

  • obama said he doesnt deserve it himself.. like hitchens said he probably had to think on the fly like most presidents have to and thats why obama himself feels now he doesnt deserve it or atleast not yet.... i mean granted he has attempted to help but a nobel prize isnt for some help its when peace has been created hence the noble peace prize

  • a 17min clip WELL DONE I love hearin Hitchens opinions on things but 4min sound bites are all I tend to find

  • chris hitchens is right on again. obama hadn't and has not even YET done anything to deserve it. what a shame. also, what a shame there have to be commercials on this video. my god. i watch you tube so i WON"T have to be bombarded by commercials. will we ever get away from them?

  • Wow, now _I_ can have beautiful skin, too!!

Uh, wait, what was the video about?

  • How is this 17 minutes long? I thought the Youtube limit was 10 minutes.

  • @2Touchstone Well, the limit for most users now is 15 minutes, regardless, if someones channel is a YouTube partner and a director (I think) they don't have a limit. I've seen 4 hour videos on here..

  • I CANT STAND THE NARRATORS VOICE ON THE END.. MAKE WE WANNA COUGH DRY A S S VOICE

  • thumbs down and i refuse to watch this video because of the commercial. screw you greedy bastards

  • these guys are soooo boring

  • PETER SEGER AND REV.ROY BOURGEOIS WEREALSO POSSIBLE CHOICES BUT THE ANOUNTED PRESIDENT WILL ALLOW THE FINANCIAL COUP TO CONTINUE AS THE UNITED SNAKES OF AMERICA IS CIRCLING THE DRAIN FASTER AND FASTER. O-BOMB-A-NATION, THAT SLUG,HAS ALLOWED THE SAME BANSTER FRIENDS IN OFFICE. JUST BECAUSE LARRY SUMMERS IS OUT, THE CUNT-TREE IS BUCKS-BROKEN FOR 3 GENERATIONS. CITI,JPMORGAN AND BANK OF AMERICA, LEVERAGED 15 TO 1 IN THE GLOBAL GNP WHICH IS 50 TRILLION. THE BILL IN 2009 WAS 750 TRILLION. TOM SCHMIDT

  • @alohamaui100 I'm sorry, but what are you talking about? you make yourself look as ridiculous as a conspiracy theorist

  • Not to mentioned president Obama has a chance to have his face on the new dollar bills so how ya like that homeboy

  • Attempted murder? Really? What is that? Do they give a nobel prize for attempted chemistry???

  • To know that our government is sending money to Pakistan is, in my eyes, an act of treason on 2 accounts. 1. we have homeless, hungry and umemployed here in our borders and educational funding is lacking. 2 that they are sending them MONEY instead of goods ie. food, water, materials for rebuilding and clothing. We have no idea excactly who is getting the money and what it will be spent on. So here you go Taliban, your new weapons are courtesy of the U.S. government!

  • @Dazaken I agree. Americans are always giving to places like Africa, but we should take care of our own "Backyard" first.

PS. Don't call me racist I'm black.

  • @zoobalac hahahaa "don't call me racist, i'm black"!

one of the greatest and most absurd comments i've ever seen. absolute genius

  • @donorleone What?

  • @zoobalac doesn't matter if your black if your racist!

  • @funus0888 You don't understand what I'm trying to say. When I wrote that comment I meant America needs to help America. I talked to an African, who said whites are ruining Africa! They want to give "air conditioners" but they cut down all the trees! Now they want to teach them how to farm!? Africans had a perfect farming system until whites came. So America needs to learn how to help itself before trying to help others.

  • @zoobalac sounds like a good pint u made though some actual african that are no longer freezing to death may disagree.. but yeah in general your probably right this country should learn to help itself much more before attempting to do it elsewhere..

  • But he didn't do that because he isn't a great figure with substance and statesmanship. He's a political opportunist plugged into the authoritarian mode of governance.

  • The Europeans can be such turkeys.

They gave Obama the "we're proud of you for not being Geo. Bush." award.

  • stop giving money to other countries for their armies and we will have peace.

  • Obama should have refused to accept the Nobel Prize, but his vanity got in the way. It was awarded to him based on the committee's naive hope that he would bring peace to the Middle East. Instead, he has failed miserably. If he were a man of character, he'd give the medal back along with the prize money.

  • I used that shampoo, and my eyebrows fell off and I attracted flies for a week.

  • The Hitch is very entertaining and charming

  • McCAIN vs. the INTERNET

Republican Senator John McCain, who is a total Internet illiterate, just introduced a Senate bill to allow providers to LIMIT your internet access and CHARGE EXTRA for accessing the Web.

Oh yeah BTW, Republican Senator McCain is the #1 recipient of donations from Telecom companies. Duhh??? How could we guess?

  • Oh no! You have to endure 15 seconds of video you don't actually have to watch or listen to so a company (that you chose to support but watching this video) can balance its budget.

  • @qwer4o commercials

  • @qwer4o lern too spel

  • Seems many Americans forget they financed and assisted Saddam and his regime in gaining complete power in iraq, for that reason alone they were responsible for getting rid of him when he went bad, it's called responsibility.

That aside why would you possibly defend an evil dictator who caused his people terror and suffering? He lost his rights the moment he murdered everyone in opposition to his party solely for power.

  • Yes, and America also financed and assisted the Soviet Union during WW2. Many Americans forget that we also supported the Shah Mohammed Reza, who had implemented broad economic and social changes, even allowing women the right to vote. Until Jimmy Carter pulled US support and plunged the Middle-East into the chaos it is today. We financed Saddam to overcome Islamic fundamentalism of Iran after the ayatollah took over. Who would you have won WW2, Germany or the Allies?

  • The US only got directly involved in WW2 after the bombing of Peal Harbour. Most Americans saw WW2 as a European conflict and wanted no part of it. The US was initially founded as an isolationist country. The founders wanted no direct involvement in international conflicts and thought that each country had to arrive at their own solutions to their own problems.

  • yes very true. And also most americans believe they single handedly defeated hitler, which is complete and utter nonsense.

  • Washington foresaw America as an empire; the doctrine of Manifest Destiny pre-dates WWI and II.

  • Not true. Thomas Jefferson sent marines to the Barbary States, to fight Islamic slave drivers in Tripoli. Look up "the Barbary Wars". If I'm not mistaken, Jefferson was one of the founding fathers.

  • Pirates that were attacking American trade ships. Of course you take action against this. When free trade is stopped by international piracy one of your two principles has to give, either isolationism or free trade. By stopping the attacks they sacrificed isolationism temporarily to maintain free trade indefinitely.

  • The point was that Jefferson believed the American Revolution was meant for export. The fact that these pirates were justifying their actions by way of the Koran was enough for Jefferson to come to this conclusion. While he didn't do it the way it's been done since, to call him an isolationist is just wrong.

  • You didn't fund Saddam to overcome anything. Iran didn't invade Iraq and neither did they have an interest in doing so.

  • They were on the cusp of a religious revolution and after the Ayatollah took power it was safe to assume that such a theocracy MIGHT act aggrssivly.

I'm more inclined to give the benefit of the doubt the western democracies than to religious fundamentalists.

  • I am not sure what your point is.

I hope your not trying to justify US support for psychopathic murderer.

  • My point was to be objective. I'm not either supporting the act or condemning it outright. You have to look at it in its historical context and not issue condemnations based on personal taste.

  • But you are not looking at its historical context. There is no evidence to suggest that Iran would invade.

Iran didn't have the ability to invade since their military was crippled.

Hussein however had made statements regarding an invasion of Iran up to 6 months prior to the event.

He has also made numerous statements regarding creating one Arab State.

  • Indeed, some seem to think that such past irresonsibility allows them to shrike responsibility now. A non-sequitor on a scale which i've never seen before.

  • If Obama was a real man he would turn down the award. You have to be a complete moron not to see that one, the award has no value. Two, it is politically driven to wedge Obama and his upcoming decision in Afghanistan.

Obama's only way out is declining the award. It shows the Nobel committee that they are retards and their prize means nothing and would make Obama look like a real noble man. But we all know he'll accept because his ego is just to damn ginormous.

  • @makeinstall If Obama were a real man he'd resign for conning us all into thinking we'd be out of a war.

  • @makeinstall

I never understood why the Americans didn't just elect Princess Diana head of state, at least she couldn't have wrecked the economy!

  • @makeinstall you'd still be complaining if he didn't accept it

  • Hitchens has long since left his Trotskyist past. He's a right wing neo-con hawk these days with some liberal social views.

  • I suppose he just picks out whichever ideology is the most insufferable to have to listen to people proselytize about over lunch.

Amis's description makes him sound crazy, hardly in any position to criticize religion if he thinks Lenin and Trotsky were great men whose grand ideas were undermined by Stalinism.

And now he's drunken the Iraq kool aid too.

Intelligence doesn't make you more sensible that's for sure!

The future of an illusion is now inverted and it's just as mad as ever.

  • So that makes you a pro-Isamic revolution, pro-Bathist, left-wing pacifist.

  • Hitchens seemed tamed, or quiet on this subject. Too bad.

  • Socialist neocon

  • I eat horse sit.

Look at that. I can say words too.

Don't make it true now does it?

  • Hitchens is a former socialist. I think he might be social democratic now but he is clearly perhaps the only intellectual on the left that supported the invasion of iraq. He clearly subscribes to the Neocon philosophy of interfering in other country's affairs and shaping them after American interest in the name of democracy. So yes.. He is a Socialist Neocon

  • If everyone else agrees with that definition then so am I.

If by "shaping" you mean intervening in genocide and human rights atrocities. That is when the Left turn into spineless, selfish cowards.

  • "Shaping" Means turning the country's policies so that it economically suits America and the American economy.. never mind the consequences of thousands of slaughtered civilians. But of course in the name of democracy. Hitchens supported the Iraq war not for the reasons underlying which was to shape their oil trade so that it would benefit America

  • But for Democracy and Freedom.. He supported the war and he has not regretted his support so he is going to spend the rest of his career defending his position on the iraq war. What a fat pathetic fucknut he is

  • "What a fat pathetic fucknut he is "

That about sums up your intellectual capacity, that of his opposition.

  • Perhaps your also a Neocon like Christopher.. A leftist mouthpiece for American aggression against a defenseless people.

  • I support democracy in Iraq, regardless of my opinion on whether it was right to invade or not, I see no moral or principled liberal position besides supporting an Iraqi government elected by its people. Perhaps you wanted to surrender those defenseless Iraqis to the people who made them afraid of going to the market, voting in elections, heading to mosque to worship, living a normal life. I support defending Iraqis from the people they fear: fanatic thugs and murderers who threaten them daily.

  • Here Here!

  • "Perhaps you wanted to surrender those defenseless Iraqis to the people who made them afraid of going to the market, voting in elections, heading to mosque to worship, living a normal life. I support defending Iraqis from the people they fear: fanatic thugs and murderers who threaten them daily."

    Go fuck yourself.

  • its not "interfering in the countries affairs" sadam and his son's does not a country make...next liberal ostrich opinion please

  • Isn't the party in Iraq he's supporting the Iraqi Communist Party or something like that?.. I remember him saying something like that in a few interveiws. So it seems he's still a socialist just a pro-war socialist which obviously is a little difficult for some to understand in a society that likes to pigeonhole people.

  • Yeah he supports the Iraqi left.. He's a former Trotskyist, later to become socialist.. now i think he might be a social democrat who knows.. He doesn't seem to complain though when people call him a Neocon.. He is smart but he is a warmongerer. Using his intellectual articulateness to promote the war as if the war wasn't about what was under the sand.. and really about democracy. I guess its time for democracy in Iran soon also.. Get Russia on board and prevent a "nuclear holocaust"

  • The lip service he gives to that crackpot little party is just for cover. The supposed "communist" who represents that so-called "party" in the UK is aligned with all sorts of nationalist right-wingers like SIOE.

  • regarding the "shiny head" comments, my suspicion is that he is probably one of the few people who declines the make-up (that almost everyone else undergoes) before going on tv.

  • hitchens' head is really shiny

  • I was thinking that too. Do you think he got botoxed?

  • what's with the commercial and crap video quality????

  • A 25 sec fucking commercial, are you serious.

  • This bandwidth doesn't pay for itself.

  • no god
