  • I think it's time to get away from Windows.

  • My solution: (Didn't use though) Activate Windows/Buy Legitimate.

  • me

  • I think most programs do this with windows 7; Video editing software, googleearth, video games, etc. They need to fix this, windows 7 is very similar to Ryan Leaf

  • As the original poster of this video, I'll tell you my solution - I bought an iMac.

  • @drrjv nice waste of money

  • @drrjv haha. congrats! Same solution I always think of =))

  • I have the same problem too!! on a compaq presario CQ40. It's very irritating... :(

  • @whitefang938

I have the very same problem (starts when I use IE9, and also stops when I close it). In FireFox I only have it when I run IE9 at the same time.

Also have a compaq presario CQ70

  • @regit24 I solved the problem by sending the computer for servicing. xD thank goodness the warranty was still valid...

  • same exact thing is happening to me right now:// ugh

  • this is happening to me but only with open windows and text, any idea?

  • HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop\HungAppTimeOut

    HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop\WaitToKillAppTimeOut

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\HungAppTimeOut

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WaitToKillAppTimeOut

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WaitToKillServiceTimeOut

Go to egedit.exe. You can safely delete the FIVE VALUES above, internal default values will be used instead by Windows, and that's what we want. My flashing stopped soon as I deleted these values!

  • @bikerbubbie how do you do that??

  • This has NOTHING to do with Windows 7. THat is JavaScript. THey have a Dynamic horizontal menu that has errors in it, and doesn't support IE8, so it's just breaking the webpage up when you highlight over it. Don't use IE, you'll end up killing your computer.

  • @WASasquatch

perhaps but i'm using chrome and firefox and my monoitor flickers like this all the time. never happened until i installed windows 7

  • I do have this random screen flicker.....

newest graphic drivers, updated directx..... pretty much tried everthing no fix it...

    solution for me:

    boot up my Ubuntu 10.04

  • Try updating your bios form the manufacturer of your computer.

  • i get similar to this but it happens to my whole screen and i never use IE8

  • Hi drrjv, I've had the same problem in Win 7 Pro 64bits with IE8.0 and Flash Updated.

Try to change the virtual memory in windows to the recommended values in:

My Computer > Advanced tab > Performance > setup > Advanced tab > Virtual Memory change button > CUSTOM SIZE

Set START VALUE to the "recomemended" value of Mb and then put 512mb extras in MAX. SIZE.

Then reboot your computer. Should work! ;-)

  • @rcanoletti

thanks for this excellent advice! the flickering has certainly decreased but still happens intermittently. anymore advice?

  • @wat1766 here we solved by formatting and reinstalling all programs and applications.

But you can also try updating your Video drivers and update Windows Internet Explorer before formatting your computer.

I can't believe that Microsoft and/or Adobe didn't ever searched for a way to solve this.

  • @rcanoletti

thanks. not sure how to format and reinstall all programs and applications. besides, are you referring to every program and app on my computer or just the ones that have to do with windows 7?

and yes, i too can't believe microsoft has not found a way to fix this.

  • this cr@p has nothing to do with Video drivers as most of the google hits and some comments say. This is a Flash bug in working with IE8 32 bit. We can't use IE8 with 64 bit because stupid flash player doesn't support 64 bit. I say this is Adobe's fault.

  • I get the same thing, I just use firefox now. It doesn't happen in firefox.

  • i get that problem too, only that it gets fixed when i restart, but later it comes up again.

  • I should've added that it's not just IE8. It's any really any applications. I have Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit. This prob happened on a Toshiba and ASUS laptop w/NVIDIA graphics cards.

  • how do you fix it, cause i cant play my games while its like this cause it just keeps pausing. !!!!

  • Same problem here on an Asus G60vx laptop. Cannot find a fix!!

  • I have the exact same thing happening with my laptop... :(

  • Open add-on manager for IE8 and disable add ons one at a time until you

find the problem add-on. Restart IE8.

  • Yes i get that same thing except on the superbar

  • try updating your video drivers
