Thanks Lisa for showing us your pops was not only our favorite trumpeter and most entertaining front men of all time but really an all around fun guy to be around in real life behind the scenes as you have shown us here. He always seemed to be the same guy everywhere to me with or without his horn! I'm also blown away with the beautiful sound he gets as well as the cool attacks and incredible phrasing at any age in his life! Can't wait to see the Unforgettable Story!

I grew up with Maynard in my life as a role model. Saw him in '73 at FDU in New Jersey, in '83 at Berklee in Boston, and around 2003 in a High School in Mass... Talked with him briefly in '83. His music will live forever. I play an ST-302 Holton MF Horn (lg bore) as my main horn. The wierd part is it has a reversed leadpipe and push-button water keys which the original ST-302 did NOT have. Rayburn's said they knew, but couldn't tell me who owned it, does anyone out there know about my horn?
But hey it looks like he plays a little to the right of center! That's great because if he has that sound playing like that then there's hope for someone like me! I play a little left of center. :)
I saw a picture or Maynard next to Chris Botti and was amused to see their callouses were on opposite sides, but about the same distance from center. "Put it wherever it works" would seem to be the idea, but I think my teacher might be shocked and appalled if I went off and tried that.
I have my own 1917 Buescher trumpet and i am going to buy a piccolo trumpet soon! when I am older, I want to form my own band and play maynards songsplus others! Maynards the best

There is not one time that I can watch Maynard walk out on stage to 'Blue Birdland' and chills not crawl up my spine. I *can't wait* for this film to be finished - I think I speak for thousands of trumpet players that haven't been the same since Maynard passed!
I'm sooooo very excited for this...I was lucky to see him many times in Colorado and the last being in may 2006. Thank you so much and I will be one of the many in line to purchase this DVD!
I wonder how many trumpets he has in his suite cases
