SHREK THE MUSICAL WAS ONE OF THE BEST MUSICALS ONE OF THE BEST SHOWS IVE EVER SEEN. HOW DARE YOU SPEAK ABOUT IT LIKE THAT!!!!! YOU OBVIOUSLY HAVENT MOVED OUT OF THE SIXTIES YET... GET WITH IT MORON!
so the music was incredible, the costumes were great, choreographyy was spectacular and the showwas hilarious. you speak in monotone. seriouslyy you should be the last person to speak of something being boring.
I disagree entirely with what he said. It is only his opinion and That does not make my opinion or anyone Else's who likes it any less valuable. I say go Shrek the Musical! May you make many happy for years to come!
and another thing how the fuck are you a theater critic?! you wouldn't know good theater if it came up and ripped that huge mole off your face. i mean you must be at least 200 years old i am shocked you even know what theater is. so why don't crawl back into the slime hole you crawled out of and keep your mouth shut and your hideous face off You tube. mother fucker
it is stupid, soulless, tone deaf, ass holes like you who are killing musical theater. i hope you die of a heart attack. AND GO TO HELL WHERE ALL YOU HAVE TO LISTEN TO IS THE SHREK SOUND TRACK AND THEN TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK OF IT .....dick head
Has he LISTENED to the soundtrack? It's not boring. What's boring is his commentary. My god, learn proper inflection of the English Language already...
He is 100% wrong on his commentary of the music in Shrek. As soon as I returned from New York City having seen the show I bought the soundtrack. I only skip maybe 1 or 2 songs. Some of the music is absolutely breathtaking (see "I Know it's Today", "Who I'd Be" and "Freak Flag"). I am a young, post-college adult with NO children and this musical has become one of my all-time favorites. I didn't even like the movies that much...
this musical is one of my high favorites, and i didn't like the movie. the songs were beautiful, the actors were stunning, and the whole show was so darn funny! i would go see it in a heartbeat, and i definitely wouldn't take this guys advice, because he obviously doesn't know what hes talking about.
haha "Grit your teeth and take the kids to Shrek. You'll be bored, but they'll be glad." wow okay thank you. i love taking the advice of boring old people.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
"Hey Honey I got a great idea. Let's spend a $100.00 a ticket for the kids to see Shrek fart on stage."- get the fuck out of here. What happened to Broadway? We went from A Streetcar Named Desire to this shit? Or more recently, RENT to this shit? it's a show for Disney World, Vegas even, But Broadway? Like I said, What Happened?
its really good you should give it a chance and see it. who knows you might love it! i could see how you would say this after seeing the movie, but the musical goes so in depth with the story, making you fall in love with it!
that guy was so wrong, at least in my eyes. I think this musical is a show that someone of any age can go to and have a great time and just because this stuck up ass hole says its not the best doesnt mean hes right just look at other reviews, a lot of them are really good
the movie can definately be declared a success, and the musical brings it justice. it keeps true to the plot, and still brings more pizzazz. i personaly loved it, and it all depends on personal preference, i guess.
I admit its not Broadway worthy either, but there's no reason to be mean like you are. I mean, the show does have some great moments like when Farquad imitates defying gravity, "Who id be", and "I know its today"- those last two are absolutely beautiful songs....
Seriously. Dude. You don't know how great this musical is. Something must, be wrong with you. Brian And Sutton are wonderful together, and. What's wrong with you!? "Go to the theatre to see Shrek, You will be bored" Uh, why tell them that buddy!? Who knows, they might even like it. Who knows. Unlike you, you freaking hate it.
As much as I hate to say it, he's somewhat right. This musical WAS made for the younger generations, like several other shows that have came out recently.(e.i. Legally Blonde, Cry Baby, ect.)
But I'm in my 20s and I found this musical very enjoyable. The plot is fun and the music is catchy, but of course it's not going to be able to stand up next to shows like West Side Story or Phantom. Those are classics, and we all have to be able to realise Shrek is not going to be a classic.
honestly i agree the musical is a childs show...but i 100% disagree with him saying that the music was bland....the song "i no its today" that was an extreamly well written powerfull beautiful song! i no adults who praised that song after they came back from the show. but some of the song ase childish but thats wat kind of story it is. but the music is not bland...hes wrong
This critic obviously did not listen to the music at all. The more I listen to it, the more layers and more instuments I hear. It's a diverse score, and sure some of the melodies are familiar and a bit juvenile, but it fits the musical.
He also completely misrepresented the flatulence. During ONE SONG they go overboard. I believe that apart from that there is maybe one burp and one fart. Get your facts straight next time, kay?
Guys, he's just doing his job. And he's right, the music IS bland next to greats such as "West Side Story" or "Sunday in the Park With George".. I saw it and was in awe of the great sets and costumes, but the rest was just.. blah. I knew the story, and, sadly, I'd like to know where ORIGINALITY ran off to ;_;
You should really lighten up, buddy. Not all broadway shows have to be dark and dramatic. They can be fun and a little immature. Brian and Sutton are two of Broadway's best singers.
wow, dude. I know ur a critic, but If u were bored.... how r all the adult audience going to me bored 2? Tell me, why the hell would i ever listen to what u say about this AMAZING SHOW?
its actually more of adults. not for children. i saw it 4 times and the humor being used will not be funny to children as it will be to adults. so thats huy is strictly wrong.
I cannot wait to see this. I think some peoples problem is you have to enjoy this kind of thing. I have always loved live theater and when I heard this was going to be on broadway I was thrilled. Movies are great but live theater there is just something extra there and you never know what is going to happen. It all just depends on a persons taste.
this is msot definately a family show. It has adult adn child humor. My sister was laughing as hard as she can (15 soon to be 16) and my parents loved it
You're an idiot and very stuckup. You need to loosen up. That show rocked and you know it. I think you just want to make people angry. You give horrible reviews.
Yes! so true. This man is so wrong. I'm seeing it in Feb! Cannot wait, oh and I'm over 12. Im 15, so that means i will be board? Omigod, this review was so wrong every singal moment.
Well I think any age can enjoy the show I mean it is prolly full of things kids unger 12 will laugh at but come on... you know it prolly is funny! I'm soo glad that Jonny is finally in another musical! =D

I absolutely disagree. A large percentage of teens find the musical highly entertaining because the movie came out when they were kids.
Plus, the score is incredible.
