  • 3:42 isn't that just like the bass buttons on an accordion? Doesn't seem that innovative to me...

  • Is that the periodic Chemistry table ?

  • JUST ONE WORD...CRAZY!!!!

  • Newthinking deluxe .. is this love at first sight ... please please be not expensive .......

  • lol he said fingering

  • i want one

  • I don't know if this was already mentioned, which I'm sure it has, but I would have incorporated it with the ability to pivot so that it'd be easier to play. Also of course, add the ability to lock and unlock the pivot.

Instead of having to cramp your wrist and arm to play lets say the 5ths vertically, you could just pivot the "axis", notice the word. "Axis" LOL, you could just pivot it 45° to 90° to the right using your left hand, kind of like a turntable, and then jam away with ease.

  • @chrishooper68 doesnt look like its that tiring for him/you to turn your hand a lil bit :|

  • JAJA A ESE SI NO LE ENTIENDO BRO,SOLO CON Q ME INDIQUES DESDE DONDE EMPIEZAN LAS NOTAS...

  • This guy is sooooo fucking awesomely outrageously cool he made it snow outside his house!

  • This will most likely go the way of the "Hotz Box"! NEVER HEARD OF IT! Exactly my point. But much success to any new idea dude.

  • >implying the harpsichord wasn't around since the 1600s

  • 5:15 OCTAVARIUM break!

  • ok, nearly^^ based on that...

  • lol

  • If you want to be the Steve Vai of the keyboard, go for it.

I'd like to have one, but not for that kind of money.

  • That's pretty freaking awesome.

  • super cool...he's the best

  • !!Dios mio ke hermosso paisaje en el fondo!!!

  • lmao

  • WTF!

  • Looks like a button accordion

  • opciones. :)

  • seems like there is no sensitivity sensor, every note is played at full volume. I would love on of these but with bigger buttons and better sensitivity.

  • Although it may not sound like it with this patch, the keys are velocity-sensitive.

  • Well, guitar is a pretty pattern based instrument too. I think that's something alot of people take for granted.

  • True to some extent but the major-third interval between the G and B strings in standard tuning kinda compromises the guitar's ability to have full symmetry. Also even if you were to tune it with five half-steps between each string interval it still becomes just a touch cumbersome down the neck as the frets get closer to each other by not having a constant distance between them all. I still agree with your comment though.

  • que copado este aparato se va al carajo esta amazing!!!!!!

  • The wizard is in 8 bit!

  • i'm just jealous that it's nice snow outside his room..

  • jajaja manda huevos

  • Does JR actually own an AXIS now? or did he just borrow this one for the time he learnt and did these promo vids?

  • i'm pretty sure they actually sent him one for free when he showed interest in it, him being a progrock god and all. it's good for promotion for the AXIS

  • yeah, I know that. But I mean after doing the promo, will he have sent it back? Or kept it. In one of these vids he did mention working on some writing with petrucci using the AXiS...

  • OH. hmm. i suppose he must've kept it. or maybe i'm just being optimistic because i would love to see him use the AXIS in a dream theater song

  • Yeah, same here. I could imagine finding the AXiS very useful and logical for writing guitar riffs and that style of playing on.

Something that would be interesting.... A Zen Riffer AXiS =P haha

  • Genius, this makes playing synth easy 2 learn as playing guitar, cuz guitar also keeps most of the parterns except on alternative tunnings.

  • You do a very good job of demo-ing this instrument. In my humble opinion, a decent demo was needed when it first came out - I'm really pleased they found you!

  • It's only 850£ ????

  • 5:14 sounds slightly like a part in Octavarium haha.

  • lol yeah

  • it technically is.

  • It's genius, though a real keyboardist would never have a problem transposing between different keys, a more casual player would find this a blessing.

  • @metabog i'd say that all great piano players have some keys that they are really comfortable in and some that they just much worse at improvising over... same goes for chords.

  • Im interested in owning one do you know what is the price of the axis 64 ?

  • WHY THE HELL!!!!!!! OMG HE IS PWN ON EVERY INSTRUMENT!!!! god, it just doesn't make any sense... AHH!!! can i wrap my head around it... psht! whatever...

  • WTF O.o is amazing

  • Did anyone else notice the bird at 4:14?

  • it was in my intendmend that everyone has heard that the bird is the word. the bird is the word papa ou mamw papa oumamaw

  • NO VELOCITY?

  • The AXiS definitely has velocity sensitivity - it's specifically mentioned in one of the clips.

  • thanks for you response^^

  • how much are these?

  • There is one on eeeebayyy right now.

  • they are about $1,200.

  • wonderful..

  • wow, the beginning sounded alot like Buckethead style..

and the piano sound is really really incredible..

  • How long are they going to keep us waiting for this.

  • It's already available. It costs only... 850GBP!

    Hurry up and buy one!!!

  • Yeah, the site is confusing at first glance.

Holy shit at that price I think I'll buy one for upstairs and another for down!

  • FUUUUCKKKK I WANT THAT!!

  • 5:42, is it just me or does he say D-sharp???? I'm quite shure that's a G-sharp.

  • He does say G-sharp

  • to me it sounded like B sharp but obviously it wasn't because that's the same as c

  • Gute Arbeit, weiter so!5*

Wenn du Zeit uns Lust hast hör dir auch mal meine Sachen an;)

  • shit was in the wrong tab haha!:D

but that video is nice too!;)

  • very cool

  • "It's a very daring thing to change the nature of the piano layout".

Total agreement, but I feel this HAS to be done since the piano is a very non logical tool.

Guidonian Hand, my ass... (the two do not have any physical relationship fyi btw! o_0)

  • wow I was reading your quote at the same exact time he said it... it was really creepy

  • And come to think of it, it (has been?) Halloween!

    o_____0

    This can only mean...

THAT WE HAVE TO OBLITERATE THE EVIL BRAIN-FEEDING ZOMBIES USING THE NEW KEYBOARD LAYOUT

    (somehow)

  • i could get used to this, cause on the piano i have so much difficulties NOT playing my arrangements in C G A or E , minor or major , doesnt really matter because there's still more white keys). I could never wrap my head around playing complex things in f#)

  • ..and if you think of it, isn't the piano layout the way it is because it needs to support the sound board with its snare configuration that ly semitone structure.

I can imagine playing advanced jazz with this in a more intuitive way than you'd do on a piano.

  • Thinking about playing something in a mode on this thing gives me nightmares. lol. F# Dorian. lol

  • id love to try this one

  • lol i saw this instrument/controller a few minutes ago and figured their was a video of Ruddess playing it. I was right.

  • This is really cool, but as a piano player I probably wouldn't have the patience to learn it. Maybe though.

  • LOL The Test That Stumped Them All at beggining! insane song, insane keyboard

  • i wish i had a normal keyboard that sounded like this. i love those low notes.

  • this is just a controller, the sound comes from another machine, maybe a korg synth.try some korg keyboards.and also there are a lot of software synth you can use to get that kind of sound.

  • the first one sounds like a guitar riff

  • O.O

  • This is awesome :)

  • great!

  • Thanks Richard and Jordan, I've been waiting for this vid.
