  • god i miss the old days. even though this was 7 months before I was born.

  • not to mention, they are using logos for the storm warnings, something they used to do back in the day, which i miss. now its actually a county viewing area map. when it used to be storm or tornado symbols.

  • Yay, WeatherSTAR III at the end of the clip

  • Is that bow echo indyire?

  • I'm sorry, but I like this radar a lot better.

  • I like the old NWS radar used in the early 1990s.

  • I always hated this radar. You never could tell where any of the counties were and it was too plain looking.

Yes, I think around 1990 is when they got their NEXRAD working. It was a big deal.

  • yeah. it was the basic NWS radar at the time. all the local stations had a feed.

  • @corydwalker: Not unless you knew your counties, LOL ;-).

  • The tone in the beginning sounds like the EBS/EAS attention tone, was it activated or just used by the station?

  • they did a quick 2 or 3 tone burst at the beginning of their weather alerts but it wasn't the EBS.

  • I must of watched the news at a young age to seen this radar. Cool my hometown of Lebanon in Marion County got mentioned.

  • That plain blue radar looks familar? What year did Wave stop using it?

  • About the end of 1990 I believe. That was when NEXRAD came about. WDRB used a similar display until the late 90's.

  • Any tornadoes?
