  • Nice!

  • Thank you so much for playing my favorite firehose songs! Thanks to you they are to be found on youtube; haven't heard them in years. So sorry to read you passed away; love from Norway...

  • How do you still have fingers after "Some Things"

  • Sweet fIREhOSE covers man...Watt is one of my favorite bassist too...

RIP Rob...I loved your videos Bro...Keep jammin upstairs in heaven man....Sad that this world is less one helluva Bass Player....You'll definitely be missed....Peace...

    ~Billy

  • your a great bass player and u got the Watt down heavy bro!!!!

  • hey brother, you should do a cover of brave captain by fIREHOSE I've been trying to learn it for a while and I just cant get it, I think a video of someone playing it will help.

    thanks

  • Great job! I'm a bassist and (obviously) a big fan of Watt. You nailed those lines and captured some of his vibe--there's something about Watt's stuff that causes one to act as enthusiastically as he does while playing it.

  • Booyah!!

  • you use 3 fingers?

  • This stuff is just amazing, no words could describe the creativity, impressiveness just simply breath taking and jaw droping, amazing job zodiak

  • Id really like to see you cover, Down With The Bass, thats probably my fave firehose tune. Do you listen to his solo stuff?

  • Right on bro - good to see you getting your groove on again. Another reminder of why you are one of the most talented and diverse bassists here on YouTube.

  • Nice! i always amazed by your vid`s... and 7:23 is plenty time to get stoned bro :D

  • Mike Watt!!! Some True Justice To a Bass Hero!!!

  • Well, I am not sure I can do "justice" to one as clean and powerful as Watt, but I give it my best.

  • Great work again. Lol - like Satch I was expecting a hair metal cover at first - but then noticed I had misread =). How do you make that your skin doesn't peel off while torturing your strings like this, hehe.

    5* from bloody cold germany

  • I often blister the tips of my fingers if I play more than a few hours. When I feel a tingle, I know it is time to stop or risk losing my calluses. Half-blisters, once healed, make excellent playing calluses, though. The object is to make the ends of one's fingers as hard and dry as possible.

  • Holy crap. Awesome work man :D

A request if you're taking them atm, anything by Mr. Bungle? :D

  • Not yet. WMG are still being buttholes.

  • pajama bottoms + bass = awesome morning

  • You're not kidding! It has always been thus, and thus it will always be.

  • You get me into so many different bands that I never really heard of before. Nice to see you again, and great job on this!

  • that was great, 5/5

  • Thanks. Mike Watt wrote some great bass lines....I just play them.

  • The band sounds pretty good. I wonder why I haven't heard of them before? Oh, well... I have you to blame for that now!! LOL.

SOrry to hear about you being sick and pulling your neck out, Rob.

I've caught the "local winter bug" all last week and have been side tracked this week with Dragon Age. I maybe Bassist... but I am a devout Gamer, too.

Sooner or later... I will return. Bigger, Badder and Ready to hear your thoughts on my bass tone.

    LoL!

  • Firehose, like Minutemen, just were not in the center of the mainstream. There torches are now carried by a select few, mostly bass players and political punks.

  • all your bass work is amazing dude.

for a minute i had to look close...i thought, holy hell ZIF is gonna do a firehouse cover haha. then i came to my senses

  • LOL...."girl, I can't take any more"

  • Wow alot of great basswork on here! And of course you did phenomenal. I really enjoyed Some Things that was a nice rockin tune.

  • Thanks. This album throws a lot of styles at you, that is for sure.

  • Yeah which is awesome. Its nice to have a diverse album to keep you on your toes.

  • Yup. I don't expect these Mike Watt videos to get much attention, but hopefully a couple of people will get turned on to this stuff and play some of it out somewhere. It is a real travesty that Mike Watt's many bands didn't break out into the mainstream, because in my opinion, he was every bit as good a bass-line writer as Flea.

  • well i am a biiiiiiigg flea fan but taking a walk around mike watt's bass lines I am imprest with the unique sound of his bass lines.

  • Well I'm definatly turned on to this stuff. Its very good. From what I've heard from your videos so far I'd have to agree with you. These are really good bass lines.

  • I am a friggin idiot. I deleted a comment I shouldn't have. NARF!

  • Very cool! I haven't listened to fIREHOUSE too much, but a friend of my recommended them when I said I was looking for a band with great bass lines. I will definitely look into them more.

  • Definitely do so. Even though he is not that easy to play in the way he plays his lines, the raw basslines are simple enough for improvisation. The biggest problem that I have playing Watt is that his basslines are so clear that there is not much room for mistakes.

  • Schecter and Watt-great combo! Nice playing as always!

  • You cannot go wrong with the awesome poundy coolness of Mike Watt. I wasn't sure Wulfgang could do it, but it turned out okay in the end. The next trilogy has even more slap style.

  • wicked stuff my friend cool

  • Thanks much. I do enjoy playing Watt's stuff. I'll probably release the other video with the other three tunes tomorrow. I shot all six today.
