I saw Pelle's last home game before he was killed. I also played hockey as a kid at The Colliseum in Voorhees, NJ, where he got drunk at the bar there.
Thank you for posting this video (the song is so appropriate)...Lindbergh, Roy, Brodeur : best goalies of the past 35 years (honorable mention for Hasek).
This is why I love the internet and youtube. I can revisit long buried memories and see things I never thought I would see again. I was 16 years old and living in Monteal at the time so the Canadiens are my team but Pelle's death really shocked and affected me. I always loved the goalies. So so sad.
Thank you for this video. Beautifully edited and perfect music. A really lovely tribute.
@CalibusRTW I think mockery is understating it. It's a disgrace. As soon as Al Arbour left it went due south. And Charles Wang is a mutt, too. Oh well, it is what it is. What the team needs to do is stop trading away great players hoping to "rebuild". We've been "rebuilding" for 15 years.
Pelle was an unreal talent of which my Favorite all time Goalie and All Star and 2 Time stanley Cup winner said of Pelle that he had the most talent of any Goalie he had ever seen ! God Rest his Soul !
Well done! Pelle was then and is now the greatest goalie in Flyers history and his early death is as tragic today as it was 25 years ago. He is missed!!
Does anyone have the pelle lindburgh memorial the held at the spectrum a few days after his death that they held before the game with the oilers !!! i think darren jenson had to play goal because bob froese was hurt > i still can see polin hugging jenson at the end of that game in my head !!!
i had nobody does it better by carly simon with this video. the annivarsary of his death is comingup it would be 24 years. this is a great video but my favorite part was at the end when the fans chant pelle pelle pelle i broke down crying!! PELLE#1
Mötte dig ofta hemma pa Barnängsgatan i Stockholm, du var en jättevänlig, jättetrevlig, och framförallt en jättevanlig kille som aldrig glömde var som var hemma. Saknar dig fortfarande !
I had the pleasure of watching him play for the Maine Mariners in thew 80-81 and 81-82 seasons. This guy brought an electricity to the Cumberland County Civic Center like no one ever had. The saves this guy made were absolutely incredible. It was so exciting to see him go to the big dance and do so well. Then so very sad to see his life end so quickly. One can only wonder if he may have attained numbers similar to those of Patrick Roy.
Number 31 should be retired. No one has worn it since he passed and no one will ever again. The Flyers should hang his number in the rafters along with 1, 4, 7, and 16
in a dedication to you PER ERIK on the eve of your upcoming birthday may 25 i after looking for years i finally have the holy grail yes a PELLE LINDBERGH GAME STICK!! PELLE PELLE PELLE PELLE PELLE
#4 would have belonged to Barry Ashbee, who passed away from leukemia, I think. If I'm wrong on that, I do apologize, but I think that's what it was that took him from us all too soon. Great song selection too, sadly.... :-(
You are correct on all counts. Unfortunately. :( It's so, so tough to see good people leave us so young.
Though if it's any consolation, at least Barry Ashbee's number was retired while he was still with us to see it. He had suffered a career-ending eye injury during the Flyers' first Cup run, and was our assistant coach from then until his very untimely passing about 3 years later. When he was honored with the retiring of his number, no one knew his time left with us would be so limited.
1 was Bernie Parent. 4 Barry Ashbee who diedof Cancer. 7. was Bill Barber. #16 Bobby "Clarkie our strong Captain" Clark. I agree #31 should hang there too. Pelle was Magnificent.
Im a die hard habs fan but growing up Pelle was my hero. Gee.... What could've been. RIP

@Clt2002 - It doesn't need to hang in the rafters to show respect. No flyer has ever worn 31 since.

The Flyers will never retire his number, drinking and driving is viewed even more negatively now in the public culture than it was back in 1985.
