Almost everyone who makes jokes about scotland hasn't ever been there. But get over it. Each country has things that seem funny to other countrys who don't understand it. You didn't get all pissy when you heard a redneck joke about america or something along those lines am i right?

Also if he hasn't been to Scotland he has definitely hung out with plenty Scottish people, because his impression of the accent is spot on.
Coming from Scotland myself I find it hard to understand some of the older people who drink a lot.

Many people have tried and failed over the years to do an actual Scottish accent (Mel Gibson for one - more like Irish) but his is pretty good.
About the not being able to understand thing tho - that's a Glaswegian accent (people from Glasgow) and only the working class people talk like that.
