  • at first i wondered if this was a drag race or just that truck making a run considering i didnt see that Cummins for a while lol

  • that was sick!

  • don't like detroit motors

  • @nickster1318

it's the sound that gets me.

sounds like bolts in a blender or just something unpleasant. motors fine otherwise, but for me it's allll about the sound.

  • Ha, that is bad ass. Made that cummins look like a bitch.

  • hey can u get the owner of this trucks number i have some questions to ask him

  • Definatly tell it is 53 series by the sound.

  • why was this ford a reccomended video for a bbc vid. ford doesnt even come close lol

  • That guy must of felt like crap.

  • fake! diesels are slow!

  • i think the dodge lost....

  • that one guy missed the like button

  • U idiots it's a 2 stroke Detroit. It weigh in at 1485 lbs. They first built in 1938. They called them the screamin jimmys built by GM.

  • detroits are damn good i work with 3650hp detroits 3500 hp cummins and i cant remember what the CATS are like 2500hp i think.... but the detroits never have problems like the cummins and cats do

  • SPANK

  • How does the front suspension handle the weight of the engine?

  • See to make a ford run and win you have to put in a Chevy engine

  • @DRNEGOLICIS And to make a Chevy, they put an Isuzu engine in it.

  • @MrSafetymeeting chevy makes their own engines and dont even try to go there with the new shit those dont count as trucks im talkin about 80s and down real trucks 94 at the newest

  • @DRNEGOLICIS 80's Chevy diesels were the worst diesels ever made.LOL They were made out of junk gas motors.

  • @MrSafetymeeting Well that goes to show you dont know Fuck-All about chevy or about trucks at all before you try talking to me get your facts straight. the 6.2L 6.5L and 8.2L GM 4 stroke diesels were their own block made by GM Detroit diesel engine division, they were built from scratch and are in no way accociated with the 372 and 396 gas engines

  • @DRNEGOLICIS No comment on the fact that the 6.2 is a massive piece of SHIT?

  • @MrSafetymeeting i said learn your shit before you talk to me. they are verry well built and reliable diesels the military even uses them in hummers they by far out preform ford 7.3L and out last them or last just as long as them and they can take alot of abuse but you have to know how to drive them most dumb asses like you start them up with out even preheating them and floor the shit out of it

  • @DRNEGOLICIS hilarious!

  • @DRNEGOLICIS The 7.3 isn't a ford. lol

  • @MrSafetymeeting you are a dum fuck.

@DRNEGOLICIS ignore the stupid little fucks like Mrsafety, he don't know shit and he won't learn shit unless you scrape his face off slowly with it. but the 6.2 was a great engine kinda gutless but damn reliable, the 6.5 in its production forms was hit and miss at it's best, but if you got to AM general they are making new redesigned 6.5s for the H1's with better block and power. although the 6.6 was izuzu they ceased to own any of it after about 2 years

  • @TheWolfpire Thanks for agreeing with me. The 6.2 is gutless. The 6.5 is hit or miss. If isuzu can't claim the duramax, Chevy sure as hell can't claim Detroits as being a chevy motor. How exactly would you scrape my face off with shit? That's fucking retarded.

  • @MrSafetymeeting want it a navistar?, i know the 7.3's in teh buses were

  • I'd rather have the cummins

  • is that dodge that sucky?

  • @bigbad302 looks mostly stock and a 1 ton so yea its slow, but he went agaist a shortend truck with more power

  • holy shit I was not expecting that LOL !!!

  • you fucked that truck all up

  • wow...

  • That's one WICKED truck !!

That Detroit 2 stroke sound is awesome !!

  • suck bang blow

  • that 318 detroit smoke the 360 cummins. thats one big step for 2 stroke kind.

  • 11.73 @ 115.31 mph !!......not too shabby for a basically stock & naturally aspirated 6v53 DD !! sounds to me like he's also running a chevy

    powerglide 2spd behind it to......doubt that it's a Ford 2spd....wouldn't handle

    the torque very long.

  • @TurbinePower69 a glide is much stronger than a ford 2spd

  • iceman5X75.....Thanks......and your right

about the "glide"......I utilized them in all my

FED's during my 18yrs of Drag Racing....

that's why I said above, that the Ford 2spd

...." wouldn't handle the torque very long "...

as compared to " glide ".....which is what

I believe he's running in it.

  • iceman5X75........Forgive me.....in my reply

to you (above)....I said (as I originally did)

that I believed he Was running a "glide"....

but, I got thinking about it ....and went back

to watch his "run" again...twice......he is

    NOT running a 2spd anything.....it's a Three spd.......could be a "turbo-hydro" or

    a C-6 Ford, or ???? who knows.....could even be a lenco or B&J planetary !???!?

  • could be a th350 or th400 with shift kit in it i couldnt tell because the rpms, usually i would of heard the rpms through gear changes but im used to open headers and loud exhaust that i could hear it change through gears, im not a diesel expert, frankly i dont mess with the stuff, but it was a pretty good run for what ever it has in it

  • @iceman5X75 th350 or th400's cant handle that much torque.thats prolly a very beefed PG.

  • @TheFordshaker dude i dont know what your talking about but basically top sportsman cars that run up at norwalk has TH400's going 6's so dont tell me 400's arent strong enough to handle power i have one in my chevelle going 7's on motor only

  • @iceman5X75 a pg will handle the torque of the detriot better than a th350 or 400 they are known for it. that 6v53 stock puts out bout 1150 ft.lbs of torque and that prolly aint stock and horsepower aint shit its all bout torque ive seen th400s scatter with mild 396's with no blow, swapped to pg and cant wear it out but from the sound of it it prolly has a c-6 ford which can handle alot of torque.thought it had a 2 speed. but could be running 3 speed stick to...

  • @TheFordshaker depends what you have in it for a PG but 400's keep it in the powerband but you have to build them up with billet internals, take it for granted the 400 im using is behind a 540 big block with 500 shot spray to it, in a heavy car your going to blow the internals of a glide each year and thats no joke, a buddy of mine suggested a glide in the car when it was running 9's when it weighed around 4300 now with the work done to it, its weighing in at 2200

  • yeah well that ford weighs prob half of what the dodge does

  • Damn that's one fast F-250

  • Ill take a detroit over a cummins any day

  • @BurningTirez They're both great diesel engines, far better than Powerstrokes...

  • the rear end ratio..there lies the question

  • Holy shit I barely saw it!!

  • That's just sweet!!!

  • I love a 2 stroke diesel.

  • Aww that that poor Dodge eaten for breakfast. If the dodge shed some poundage it may have a chance....

  • WOW 11.7?! That's doin pretty darn good... How much does that truck weigh? I'm trying for the mid 12's in a 5600# truck and it's quite a little bit of work for that!

  • Looking at what is left of that truck the Detroit weighs about half the total weight. I would guess somewhere between 3800-4200. Whoever posted this probably knows exactly.

  • kblackav8or.......the 6V53N weighs in at

1485#....that's a complete engine itself, but without any accessories whatsoever,

including the starter, which was good for

approx. 30# all by itself. The 6v53T was at

    1695# plus accessories.

  • Yep - about half the weight of the entire vehicle lies in the engine.

  • Wow that pretty much destroyed the dodge.

  • dodge sux

  • LOL

  • I'd love to know the what engine that is. 71 or 92 probably. FYI- the 149 series was never used in trucks, mostly tugboats and locomotives.

  • 6v53.

  • yup 53 series revs hard and sounds sweet with strait cut blower gears

  • big rig motor

  • mid rig :P the big ones used 71 series lol

  • THE SUPER RIGS USE 149's

the 92 series is the coolest though

  • thats a damn dodge he race u dumb fucks!!!

u can see the front of it in the begining

  • that means that if he beat that dodge with no problem then a chevy doesn't even stand a chance!!

  • Keep in mind that Detroit diesels are made by General Motors.

  • that shut em up :P

  • Were that is. Has been owned by Daimler and Freightliner since 2000 or so. The Detroit motors are just great workhorses, nothing beats the roar of a two stroke diesel.

  • Daimler, etc. has nothing to do with this.

These motors were first produced over 70 years ago.

Just because one company buys another doesn't give them credit for everything ever produced....

    just the liability!

    Peace,

    _g

  • @madtownmadman too bad gm is too stupid to throw them in their 2500/3500 and depends on that shitty duramax

  • @madtownmadman Thanks for the information, I never knew that :D.

  • @madtownmadman They WERE made by GM when you could go out and buy ANY car and it be good, wether it was GM, Ford, or Daimler Chrystler.

  • @97IntlPowerstroke Back then, there was no Daimler-Chrysler.

  • @madtownmadman if detroit diesel is made by GM, why don't they use that instead of a DMAX?

  • @gbonesrider Well, 2-stroke Detroits were never put in light-duty trucks. They're an ancient design, and theres no possible way that they could even come close to meeting the treehugging federal emission standards. Had GM kept the 2-stroke around, and continued to develop and improve upon it, it would be one hell of an engine. Thats something I would like to see-a modern rendition of a 2-stroke diesel.

  • @madtownmadman im right with ya there, id love to see a high performance 2 stroke gasser as well, rumor is some guy converted his mercedes coupe to 2 stroke just for the hell of it

  • @phil656565 saab

  • @12valvepower1 sounds like fun, ill look into it

  • @madtownmadman

There were a few conversions made in the '60s, '70s and early '80s that used the 3-53 and 4-53 Detroit Diesel engines. I do remember a few '70s-early '80s GMC/Chevrolet and IHC mediums did get out with the 4-53.

  • @gbonesrider They did, with the 6.2 and the 6.5 but then they put a more modern engine in to compete with Cummins and Powerstroke

  • @madtownmadman

    Detroits are fuckin awesome.

  • Awesome truck Doug!!!!

  • Ole mate in the Ford left mate in the Chevy for dead, hey?!

  • It is, I go down atleast once a month in the summer. We always have a good time there.

  • The guy you spoke of at New England dragway put his engine in an altered and is running 8 second et.s there is a video here of it, it is a silver hot rod. very cool... It is v-6 twin turbo

  • fredfordguy...........the "T" Altered your referring to....belongs to Doug Doring from Conneticut.....he owns (or, did...can

no longer find his web site) a high performance Detroit Diesel Shop.

  • boltactions--you are a retard,

  • two strokes detroits are notorious for superior hole-shots.

  • i've seen that thing at NED...it's a pos if you ask me (coming from a diesel performance and racing backround). there was another guy with a detriot in a maroon chevy that was good..haven't seen him in a bit.

  • that LITTLE thing is fast

  • I've run with guy at New England Dragway. This thing is quick!!!!!!

  • I screwed this up! The guy's name isn't Guy!

  • FUCK YOU, CUMMINS!

    jk, lol.

  • And he did this with a diesel? That's some truck!

  • I saw this guy at lebanon valley dragway in NY state this year. He must go all over with it.

  • Sounds good, what transmission are you using?

  • This isn't my truck, just one I saw at the track. Sorry.
