K well if you used new products the mac would probably win in again boot up time, but a Vaio with an core i5, 500 gb, and 4gb of ram, and an nvidea geforce graphics card is only 699$. Why do people do speed tests by comparing the booting time! Mac and PC have totally different OS, I say load the Mac with Windows OS then test the booting time plus run a demanding software like Photoshop CS5 on both computers and let's see who is faster..

@valdrianth I doubt you're being truthful. Mac OS X actually runs faster than windows 7. Everyone knows it's less demanding graphically and even memory wise. Also, windows using a registry to store settings does not really help in its speed. Mac is not only sexy but runs way faster after installing applications.

If you actually know how to take care of your PC and allow it to do what it's supposed to it, it'll be fine. That being said, there's a reason why I do most of my work on my MAC. Video editing, audio mixing, etc. I like both machines and use them for different reasons.

at least you should check that the vaio is of the same generation as the mac, because a vaio of the same generation as the Mac would be up to 10 times faster and much cheaper

I bought a macbook pro because of the trackpad and osx, the guy who sold it to me put bootcamp with windows 7 on it and man it blows compared to osx, i tried hackintosh before but it is flakey as hell and it runs rock solid on the proper hardware, you dont have to pay full price get a second hand machine believe me they are rock solid machines with an ssd in them and 8Gb ram. It is the best notebook I have ever purchased, and i've owned a LOT of them and its SILENT!

Time of booting is not an measure of system performance =) I bought top 15" MacBook Pro and was disappointed. It is slower than SONY VAIO F13 in working with sound. It have much problems with RAM and Video graphics. It have poor of hotkeys list . And you can not real to use operative this list. I can't play and work with it at full.
It is working great on Windows without any additional customising.
But For Windows laptop it have very expensive and poor hardware.

I live in Poland, so as to get my Mac fixed i have to sent it to another city. Moreover here mac is about 3 times more expensive than vaio, and many european programs don`t support them.
If your going to do boot time comparision, atless make sure that both OS are clean installs and if it's not the video is pointless, because they're not going at their intended speed.
My windows 7 takes forever to boot up. My parents ancient mac tower they got a few years ago probably takes 5 min to boot up. Mine has a bootup problem.

K well if you used new products the mac would probably win in again boot up time, but a Vaio with an core i5, 500 gb, and 4gb of ram, and an nvidea geforce graphics card is only 699$. The lowest option on a mac book is 1200 dollars and still loses in specs. Ill keep that 500 dollars and stick with my 5 more seconds of boot time. Haha anyone else agree?

Why do people do speed tests by comparing the booting time! Mac and PC have totally different OS, I say load the Mac with Windows OS then test the booting time plus run a demanding software like Photoshop CS5 on both computers and let's see who is faster..

My sony vaio boots in 15 sec not just that but with win 8 soon 2 come it will show vaio 4 sec then a login screen nice eh. Don't say i'm a pc faneboy I have a 2011 IMac and I am posting on my iPhone. @valdrianth I doubt you're being truthful. Mac OS X actually runs faster than windows 7. Everyone knows it's less demanding graphically and even memory wise. Also, windows using a registry to store settings does not really help in its speed. Mac is not only sexy but runs way faster after installing applications.

If you actually know how to take care of your PC and allow it to do what it's supposed to it, it'll be fine. That being said, there's a reason why I do most of my work on my MAC. Video editing, audio mixing, etc. I like both machines and use them for different reasons.

macS ARE overpriced. I just bought the 2011 13' Macbook Pro Core i7. I like tha Vaios tho. I just hate the design. FAT and UGLY. lol....and its lapburner. I hate that mac doesnt come blu-ray equipped. But i dont use it for movies. The macbook pros are perfect for Studio Recording.

i got a 17" Vaio E series with a blu-ray burner (!) and a 1080 screen with quite literally the same hardware offered by mac. a 17" macbook pro cost over $2700, and i only paid $1200 for my vaio. fuck mac, you're paying for aesthetic. (and if i want to upgrade ((anything)) i actually can, instead of spending over three grand to get a whole replacement computer)

I bought a macbook pro because of the trackpad and osx, the guy who sold it to me put bootcamp with windows 7 on it and man it blows compared to osx, i tried hackintosh before but it is flakey as hell and it runs rock solid on the proper hardware, you dont have to pay full price get a second hand machine believe me they are rock solid machines with an ssd in them and 8Gb ram. It is the best notebook I have ever purchased, and i've owned a LOT of them and its SILENT!

Time of booting is not an measure of system performance =) I bought top 15" MacBook Pro and was disappointed. It is slower than SONY VAIO F13 in working with sound. It have much problems with RAM and Video graphics. It have poor of hotkeys list . And you can not real to use operative this list. I can't play and work with it at full.
It is working great on Windows without any additional customising.
But For Windows laptop it have very expensive and poor hardware.

Obviously DOS boot up 10 times faster than WIN7. So my Commander64 win.
Boot time depends on HDD/SSD, RAM, CPU.

My windows 7 takes forever to boot up. My parents ancient mac tower they got a few years ago probably takes 5 min to boot up. Mine has a bootup problem.
