It is not about the woman, it is about the baby. If you don't want a child, then either don't have sex, or use birth control and double up on condoms, and use spermicidal lube all at the same time. You cant justify the taking of life, when you consciously choose to have sex, and don't want a kid. If a woman is raped, its a different story, but when you consciously choose to have sex, you have to realize that you might get pregnant, and you should think twice before doing it.

I understand your point. But even the answer to ur question wasn't effective. The answer was "pay them pennies so they'll stay poor and be unable to leave the plantations they were forced to work on." That's not a way to live. I understand they deserve a right to try, but the difference is they can actually sustain THEMSELVES. No infant can care for itself so it's the parents responsibility. And with every responsibility comes rights, one of which is the right to refuse that responsibility.
I am simply saying that no one can jusitfy an injustice because the circumstances are not ideal. If I understand correctly, you are saying it is ok to kill these children because the parents do not want the responsibility and/or lack the understanding that someones origins does not dictate the potential of a person. I hate to accept the fact that so much has been denied humanity because its "ok" to kill babies....

You don't justify something that's wrong by saying "they're going to do it anyway." Rapists will still rape; Murderers will still kill- still illegal though. And yes, there are many of us prolifers that work towards and contribute to organizations that help mothers in crisis pregnancies. There's help out there. But in the end, generally speaking, it comes back to being responsible for your own actions.
Ivy, you're missing the reality of the situation. The reality of it is, people WILL have illegal abortions. They do it now in other countries. That's like saying we shouldn't have funeral homes or cemetery's because it "justifies" murder. Abortions are necessary for a lot more than "circumstantial" reasons (as funeral homes are used for more than homicides).
What about drug addicts who may give birth to deformed or drug addicted children? Or HIV positive mothers?
A cemetary doesn't justify murder anymore than a garbage bag justifies the death of an aborted baby. NATURAL death is a part of life. There will always be a chance- even when using bc that you can get pregnant. it shouldn't surprise any adult. the hard truth is, if you are having sex, it should be with your spouse (no she didn't!). It should be with someone that you could raise a child with. It should be with someone you know very well- why? Because there is ALWAYS a chance that you could get pregnant. No child should ever have to pay the death penalty for something their mother/father was already aware of.
in reference to the previously mentioned situations- (disease, abusive relationship, etc.)...put the focus on the solution- which is never to kill the child- the child not being the source of the problem. Get out of the relationship. Diseased child? there are many people that live with HIV now that manage it and can live a decent life. There's a lot of almost literal throwing out the baby with the bath water going on. Put the focus on the actual problem.

The reason it's "our body" is because it lives off of our body. A tumor (living organism) may be growing in ur body, but u don't lose the rights to ur body cuz something else is living off of it.

It is not about the woman, it is about the baby. If you don't want a child, then either don't have sex, or use birth control and double up on condoms, and use spermicidal lube all at the same time. You cant justify the taking of life, when you consciously choose to have sex, and don't want a kid. If a woman is raped, its a different story, but when you consciously choose to have sex, you have to realize that you might get pregnant, and you should think twice before doing it.

U put it in the system and bounce him/her around in foster homes because there's more children than there are adopting parents. U subject the child to abuse and neglect by foster parents who only want them for their financial gain. I understand your point. But even the answer to ur question wasn't effective. The answer was "pay them pennies so they'll stay poor and be unable to leave the plantations they were forced to work on." That's not a way to live. I understand they deserve a right to try, but the difference is they can actually sustain THEMSELVES. No infant can care for itself so it's the parents responsibility. And with every responsibility comes rights, one of which is the right to refuse that responsibility.

Ivy, you're missing the reality of the situation. The reality of it is, people WILL have illegal abortions. They do it now in other countries. If I'm pregnant w/ my fathers child and don't want to tell anyone, u don't have the right to force me.
If I use condoms or birth control and still get pregnant (it DEFINITELY happens), u can't tell me "I need to be responsible for my actions."
If my husband is abusive and I don't want to bring a child into that household, u have NO right to make me.

There will always be a chance- even when using bc that you can get pregnant. it shouldn't surprise any adult. the hard truth is, if you are having sex, it should be with your spouse (no she didn't!). It should be with someone that you could raise a child with. It should be with someone you know very well- why? Because there is ALWAYS a chance that you could get pregnant. No child should ever have to pay the death penalty for something their mother/father was already aware of.

in reference to the previously mentioned situations- (disease, abusive relationship, etc.)...put the focus on the solution- which is never to kill the child- the child not being the source of the problem. Get out of the relationship. Diseased child? there are many people that live with HIV now that manage it and can live a decent life. There's a lot of almost literal throwing out the baby with the bath water going on. Put the focus on the actual problem.

These people ARE putting the focus on the "actual problem." They're getting their lives together before they bring a new one into the world.
But if u noticed my comment wasn't about the problem, it's mainly about privacy. Limiting abortions would require people to divulge their personal or background info that they normally would not.
I don't think you understand how deep that is. If I have to tell u my life story in order to get approval to do something to MY body, what's next?

See, but i disagree with you there. Caramel you can do whatever you want to YOUR body and I won't say anything. But a person growing inside of you is not your body. How'd they get us to believe that another person, with it's own set of body parts is OUR body? Because it needs us in order to survive? A baby still needs its mother or someone else well after birth in order to survive. Explain that one to me- if you were pregnant, why would you call your baby your body?

The reason it's "our body" is because it lives off of our body. A tumor (living organism) may be growing in ur body, but u don't lose the rights to ur body cuz something else is living off of it.
As long as it's IN my body or on it, it's a part of MY body. And I have control over it. The same way I can choose to pop a pimple on my chin, I can choose to abort a living organism growing inside of me. It may not be pretty but it's right.

@caramel Are you comparing a baby to a tumor? A tumor may kill you, is that baby threatening your very life? Did that baby ambush you as you strolled down the street. Sex ALWAYS=possibility of pregnancy,you know this,so accept responsibility for your gamble.The baby had no way to avoid his/her circumstances.There are literally thousands of organizations that help mother's who chose not to kill their babies!

U just took this a step further. So now people should only be sleeping with people they wouldn't mind having children with...why? Cuz u think it's morally right? Well why not make that a law since we're making laws based on personal moral standards. By then u've fully stepped into the bedroom of American citizens. A place NO ONE in govt should be.

Yes, people should only sleep with someone they wouldn't mind having a child with. Absolutely! Why? Because there is ALWAYS a chance for pregnancy. This is when adults need to act like adults more than ever. If you can't raise a child with the person you want to sleep with, keep your undies on! Crazy concept huh?! Otherwise, this carelessness will be paid for by the life of a child. How is it that that's acceptable to you?

It's really easy for people to speak about situations they've never had to deal with. You've probably never been pregnant and unsure of who the father was. And once u find out he tells u he's not ready for ANOTHER (most of the time) kid. You're in school and can't even pay ur bills. Already on welfare and not to mention the possibility of being disowned by ur parents. Feel for that girl, she's here, she's alive, and she needs an option.

That the 'nurses', anesthesiolosists'(if they have anesthetic), 'ultrasound techs' are just single mothers with no training at all in alot of cases? Abortion is not murder; murder is defined in 2 general ways:
1.) Illegal homicide
2.) Wrongful death
For 1, abortion is legalized therefore it does not match the definition of illegal homicide.
For 2, abortion arguments justify a women's right to choose to terminate a pregnancy within the first trimester, therefore it is not a wrongful death.
Hence abortion is not murder.

There is NOTHING in the bible that tells women not to have an abortion. On the contrary: God tells men to cut open the bellies of women with fruit, kill everyone in the village except the virgins- to keep the virgins to themselves.
God also commands to kill all firstborn boys (I think of the egyptians?).

you cant compare a childs life with..... beer? I am not a christian. If ur not ready to take the responsibility that sex can bring dont have sex. because then if u get pregnant u go and try to fix ur "mistake" ur unborn child is the one that pays for it. Its life is taken, its CHOICE wasnt there. They didnt have a say cuz they cant speak up. i will give u and effective way to fix this problem. If u cant have a child! By some pills to prevent pregnancy, use condoms, or DONT HAVE SEX!

Condoms and pills are only 97-99% effective. My aunt had a child even after her tubes were tied, so there's never a 100% guarantee.
For that 1-3% of people who get pregnant despite their efforts, they need to have an option.
