It surprises me that so many people have never heard of Scott Joplin or ragtime music. It was no doubt the inspiration behind this song. Most people have heard "The Entertainer" written by Scott Joplin around the 1900's.

You would be almost 100% correct about this piece, this is most definitely a Rag. This piece has the heavy left wrist that Rags are notorious for, but it lacks the Ragtime bounce that I love to give all my performances. All the same, this is an excellent piece - one of Nobuo Uematsu's best!

@NeoSephirothOmega Heh, thanks! I've been playing Ragtime for many years so you could say it's my specialty. As all of the music in The Sting (with a select few exceptions which were entirely background) is Ragtime by Scott Joplin, I have to be a fan, not to mention it's one of the greatest movies ever!

Anyhow, the Treno theme is the only FF piece by Nobuo Uematsu that actually has a Rag played on Piano. I'm also a fan of his FF8 Eyes on Me for Piano, it's a bit tricky to play but still great!
