They did teach that in the finnish army still in the early 90's, but that method shown here seems to be simplified. The method they thought us did cover ankle too and was "locked" so that you could walk with them even without moccasins.
awesome !! great idea..i'll be usin' some wool blanket squares next time out in winter for sure. Dual purpose too as the wool squares could be used for other things as well , pot holder, hat liner, small pillow, crude pouch etc. if need be. I suspect you could "layer " too by wrappin' your feet in say.....cotton or light wool then heavier wool.

Are you talking about the pucker toe moccasins or the blanket wrappings?
