I think she sings better. Though I love the original, but I still cannot forget this drummer's rhythm and soulful singing. I come here in every morning and listen to this tune and do the things.
Seems like the engineer is not mixing everyone in this song fairly. The guts is missing in this track..Plus the drummer's mix is as if you are listening to a solo. Must have been the first song done... engineer is not warmed-up to the stage sound.
It's gets better only in the last 30 seconds of the Video.....wish I was at the board .
As a drummer, I love this song. Not just because of Andrew's playing, but also because it shows how only a decent voice, keyboards, a sequencer and drums can make a memorable tune. And when the bass kicks in--holy crap (especially that kick ass fill leading into the bass' entrance).
God, how I wish I could have been there that night. I first heard this particular song when the movie " Sliver " came out almost 20 years ago. I had to get the sound track so I could hear the song again and again and again. I love playing it for those who have never heard it, or the band before. I always get questions about it.
Massive Attack are Robert del Naja and Daddy G. In their cds, they record with various singers and when they're touring, they bring different singers to sing their songs. The original album version of Unfinished Sympathy is performed by the amazing Shara Nelson, but she was just a session singer who provided vocals to their debut album "Blue Lines", and as they're no longer working together, they usually bring some random girl to sing this song on live concerts, as you see in this video.. ;)

@cd0156 The singer's name is Hazel Fernandez. The 2004 tour is the only time she toured with them. Her regular gig is touring with Jamiroquai.

Hazel Fernandes was in a mid-90s soul group, The Affair.
She also understudied Dannii Minogue in Notre Dame de Paris in London's West End!

cool performance, nothing to say. the drum's sound is incredible, especially the snare. perhaps the bass should enter before. great.

The orginal was better, you can tell she was really into it, not like this, she was the singer that made this song, not this live singer

I saw the Massive Attack during 2004 in rome, and even in this occasion Unfinished Sympathy was astonished.
