  • Yoko Kanno is the greatest

  • Spike's nose looks funny.

  • "Who are you? Tell me."

  • The name is "VICIOUS"....

    \

  • When people havnt heard Ave Maria...

I make this listen to this version.

  • incredible song.

  • Does anybody know the actual text to this piece? It does not sound like a typical Ave Maria except for the words "Ave maria"... Did Kanno use her own language again here? I doubt the singer's diction is that bad. I wouldn't mind trying to perform this, but I would really like the proper text. =)

  • @musictman I found some music sheets in which lyrics were written as this...I don't really understand what language is that. Surely that's not latin or italian Ave Maria, thoie Ari, arito si croize Idenioni, ze gwanda, eriga! Ave Maria, Sanctus Ave Maria, thoie Ari, arito si croize Idenioni, ze gwanda, eriga! Ave Maria, Esmetos. O mia tao en te, en te O mia tao weno, weo!
  • Probably one of the best recordings of this song ever!

  • this is too beautiful for words.

  • Wow, this is so-... *suddenly dies from the beauty of this song*

  • Love the part from 3:40 untill pretty much the end.

  • Most definitely the best show I've seen in my life, animated or not. I have never been so emotionally attached to something on T.V. The story and the music that goes with it was such a perfect match. I don't think anything this great will be shown on T.V. ever again. Just my opinion though.

  • @TurboJesus3000

true art in everyway. I am sad because I know its over and I will never feel the same way that cowboy bebop made me feel but I am also happy because of how truly great it was and that I was graced by it. Cowboy Bebop gives me that "high" of nostalgia that you want to find so desperately and feeling of being at the very edge of happiness lost,

  • Pure bliss.

  • i love this version of ave maria!

  • do you have the lyrics for this???

  • I would love to perform this song for a vocal recital, but I can't find the lyrics anywhere. Does anyone know where these lyrics can be found?

  • This version of Ave Maria always brings me to tears. My favourite, right alongside Pavarotti's rendition.

  • @LiliumLoveless can you tell me how to find pavarotti singing it?

  • And what a brilliant episode of Cowboy Bebop this song appeared in. In my 20 years of watching anime 'ballad of fallen angels' is the most beautiful and haunting session i've ever seen.

  • I will never forget the look on vicious' face when that grenade bounced in the window

  • I'm not ashamed to admit that this song moves me to tears. It's so beautiful.

  • I think it has no lyrics...

You can hear 'ave maria/sanctus' and other words from latin.... but it think it is not just one language =\

  • I would also like the lyrics please! they're nowhere to be found :(

  • I LOVE this song and I want the lyrics desperately!! I cannot find it!!!

  • Me neither! Everyone has the lyrics that Shubert and Bach have used, but this is different!

  • Looking at these comments, a lot of people are confused about the connection between this Ave Maria and the Schubert Ave Maria. They have nothing in common other than the fact that it was Yokko Kanno's inspiration. Also, a lot of you are talking about Pavarotti's version of this. He had never performed this song during his lifetime, and probably wouldn't have. This came too late in his life, he was in his early Sixties, and few people of his talents learn new music at that time.

  • Pavarotti performed Ave Maria in 2006 I think. Just search it on Youtube.

  • LOL I think that person was surprised to find that Pavarotti's performance is one of the most popular on youtube. Around 12 million views?

  • I'm pretty sure he was talking about this version of Ave Maria that Pavarotti wouldn't sing because of the said age and not learning it. But that's just my guess..

  • I never was a fan of this song, but I love this version. And as someone said it is a good balance between the music and the vocals. Also, this is an atypical arrangement that just works. Better than the Pavarotti version overall, though, obviously, the vocals alone cannot compete with "The Master."

  • 1:08, pure fuckin' bliss.

  • * Orchestra: Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra * Conductor: Anthony Inglis * Composer: 菅野よう子 (Yoko Kanno), inspired by the original work by Franz Schubert.

  • Thank you, I will post them up. :D

  • Do you have the sheet music?

    thanks

  • This song is beautiful the introduction and the ending are both wonderful, a truly great piece of music and I was lucky to find it. The Pavarotti version is too saturated with his voice, but I find this version to be balanced betwixt music and vocals and that makes it special. Wonderful piece of music :]

  • Do you know who is the composser? Everybody keeps saying it was Schubert, but I think they must mistaken the more famous Ave maría, which was written by Schubert, indeed.

  • Artist: Jerzy Kneting

    Composer: Yoko Kanno

Performed by the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Anthony Inglis

  • I disagree with shinsengumi. Maybe I'm just picky but in just the first five seconds I instantly prefer this song over the pavarotti version. When I watch the vid of him singing I hear this strange horn beep off two notes that don't really do anything for the song and I notice how he has to hold the sheet music with him because he just wasn't able to memorize it.

With this song the first 5 seconds has the greatest beginning I have ever heard of any song.

  • Pretty good, but not as good as Pavarotti's version. But still, 5/5

    PASTRAMI MAN APPROVES

  • Definitely my favorite rendition of Ave Maria

  • Do you happen to have the lyrics to this?
