If you read BirdTalk magazine they have some tips in there. They have a website too. Is your budgie friendly with you? Like to be held etc. Just talk to him/her and listen carefully. Budgies have tiny voices. Your little friend my already be talking, especially if it is an only bird or one you spend a lot of time with. Budgies (parakeets) are parrots just smaller versions and they can learn to speak like the bigs. Look up speech training online or in books. Hope this helps.
it is called a "bird band" it has numbers on it to identify the bird when its at a store i think. mine has one, all it does is chirp, how doyou get it to talk like a human talks, like make it say "hi"
it's a band....the bird came from a breeding farm so it has a band with a number so if he/she gets lost or stolen the owner has papers that has a number that is shown on the band. :)
you dont set a parakeet free the other big birds will get him hes probally used to being in a cage and will never know what the hellz goin on he wont beable to defend himself with no beek
Parakeets are so amazing when they talk! My mom has 4 parakeets (just got 2 of them awhile ago) and none of them talk human as of yet. The first two we have are very scared of humans unlike the two new ones, but they all "sing" when there is music playing.
Our Petey, a male keet, had a huge vocab and loved to dance and fly to people. His voice sounded similar to this keet. One day not long after we got him, he leaned into my ear and said, "Gonna bite your ear." Freaky. To me, that is speaking in context. He also said, "here kitty kitty! Prrrrr." When the cat would walk in the room. Drove the cat nuts but was great fun and impressed visitors. He died at about 5 years old this past February from an unknown cause.

Budgies/Parakeets live for about 15-20 years if cared for properly. And actually I have read about Macaws and it says they can live anywhere from 60-80 years. At least that is what I have read in many books, and I have a couple. but yeah I agree the budgie IS very beautiful!

Because trying to remove it by yourself can cause serious injury. Some vets will remove it, but there's really no reason to as it doesn't bother the bird at all, and tells what year the bird was hatched in. Not to mention, taking a bird to the vet when it isn't needed causes stress to the bird.
You actually aren't supposed to remove the breeder band, it helps your vet out and it can help you if you need to contact the breeder (pet stores keep that on record). The only time you should remove the band is if it is hurting the bird. At least that is what I have been told by many vets and breeders. You can but it helps to identify your bird.
I guess you have to have a parakeet to know their vocal limitations. They aren't like your talking parrots. This is a very good talking parakeet! Adorable!!

The stockier ones with the bigger foreheads, sometimes known as "English Budgies" are the same bird, only bred to look nicer and to have these fun personality traits.
It's my understanding that males talk more than females. I talk to Shakey a lot, repeating words often, and that's why he has such a large vocabulary.

I've just talked to him a lot. He picks up words fast. He is actually a lot more fluent than what you see in this short video. He's an amazing little bird.
They Won't talk if you have 7,If you only had one and a male and just talking over and over to him he would start talking,but if you have more than one they would rather talk to each other

Very cutee :))..I have question . My bird is overly enjoying her cage and especially the mirrors that she does not even pay attention to me and bites me to be able to get back to her cage :( Shall I remove the mirrors ? What would you recommend?
I'd remove it slowly. For example, let her have it all day, then half a day, then the morning only, and finally cut down to no mirror, to avoid separation anxiety.
What a clever birdie and how cute. I don't normally like the American accent but on this little cutie it suits him. I grew up with talking budgies so I can tell this is real.

Very cutee :))..I have question . My bird is overly enjoying her cage and especially the mirrors that she does not even pay attention to me and bites me to be able to get back to her cage :( Shall I remove the mirrors ? What would you recommend?

I'd remove it slowly. For example, let her have it all day, then half a day, then the morning only, and finally cut down to no mirror, to avoid separation anxiety.
