@MrGrandTheftAuto225 my brother had an HP and i STILL have my acer, while it may not be the best, i've had my laptop for over 3 years, he's had his HP for doubtfully even 2 years and it's falling apart, battery is dead, power cord jack is broken, body is almost split in two, and other than that it's all scratched and whatnot, as opposed to my 4 yr old acer laptop, only thing wrong with it is a dead monitor from overuse, then again, that could just be my brothers own recklessness and stupidity.

@platinum63 Go buy a lottery ticket cuz you must be the only humain on earth who had'nt problems with Acer , the earplug jack of mine is broken in the laptop due to someone had pulled the wire out sideway by accident, i found it very fragile ( 1st time ) , this is my second major problem in 8 month of light duty , the original Toshiba shitty hard disc is long-time gone . now according to Acer , I should buy a new motherboard at 275$ US (almost the price i paid brand new)...

WARNING dont take a laptop apart on a bed. The bed rubbing can create static and fry components. Also use an esd strap, and treat the parts delicately. And remember that screws are diferent sizes so keep track of where they go.

@doompop123 What OS and how much memory do you have on your Acer? What graphics capability does it have? Some games need a serious bit of graphics kit in order to run smooth, plus enough memory for it al lto work properly. If your ntebook is lagging, you may have a virus or our OS is having problems. Don't dismiss Acer. I've had one for the best part of 6 years and haven't had any problems with it.

Acer laptops are junk. I wouldn't waste my money on one. Go buy a Dell or something. I got an Acer Aspire 4520 laptop about 2 years ago for a graduation gift. It gave trouble within the first year. I had a Compaq for 6 years before it gave any trouble and I'm using a Dell right now. Acers are just a poor quality, "Get me by," cheap brand computer.

@hikaru613 i have seen on most the Toshiba satellite laptops i fix that many have video cards in them but some are incompatible if you swap them as Toshiba has locked up their bois so its like a disposable computer that basically only upgrade the HDD and RAM. though i don't recommend getting one of them, they heat up like crazy in in a year to three years randomly it will die on you like everything else comes on but the screen which requires you to gut the laptop to the video card...

Anyone who has an ACER, i strongly advise you to be careful with the screens.

They are quite thin, and handling them improperly - like, sadly i did -, such as holding it by the top of the screen, they will crack quite easily.

Now there are colorful lines going down my screen - i wouldn't have minded if it didn't cover up my log in area and most of the main screen.

aw yeah i just removed the first laptop keyboard in my life :D never disassembled a laptop.

i spilled a drink at it and i dont even remember when, it was just a little amount and managed to kill my entire keyboard ;/ never gonna buy acer again, the good thing is that keyboards cost around 5-15 pounds for this laptop

Excellent, helpful video. Works almost identically for Acer Extensa laptops also. If you don't know enough about R&R of desktop (or laptop) parts though, you should probably not try the full treatment shown here. You might still be OK if you're just removing some part for dusting or cleaning but if you can't see what he's doing at some points, get a very knowledgeable friend to help you out. Thanks for the excellent video, though!

Once you follow this excellent video and can access the motherboard, look for a round silver battery, approximately the size of a nickel. Remove that and set aside for several hours or a day. Replace this BIOS battery and your CMOS should reset itself. Clean any fingerprints from the battery (alcohol) and return it to its place without putting your fingerprints or dirt on it. This SHOULD work. Good luck!

I wouldn't buy another Acer! I have had 2. The first after 14 months required a new screen. Cost.. 1500 euros. Now, here in Sweden they want 1200 euros to replace the screen on my 2 year old Acer!!

Get a Mac! Dont use PCpunkten in Linkoping either. They take no responsibility at all.

And... dont take your lap top to Elgiganten for repairs either thats where they want 1200 E!.

No as I said Mac is the most trouble free every time. Acer are finished as far as I am concerned.
