I'm a brown guy & trust me, what Russell Peters says in this video is so true. We'll spend years of our lives in university just to avoid physical labour. I can't believe anyone tried to use Indians as slaves. That's like trying to dribble a football. Ain't gonna work out! "Give us a calculator, man! We'll do your taxes!!"
@Thedarksecret1 Clearly you haven't spent much time around brown people. Have you noticed they always try to be doctors, lawyers, etc. It's very rare they do hard physical labour. It's just a weird cultural norm.
@robfromvan Are you kidding me? Most of the people in India do hard physical labor. The only ones that really become, doctors, lawyers, engineers, etc are usually people from the upper classes/caste that can afford to sen their children to prestigious schools abroad. The "coolies" were transported to the New World for the sole purpose of performing hard labor in placed like Guyana and the West Indies.
@robfromvan India is the home of about 900,000,000 people. I hardly think that the majority of them are doctors, lawyers, engineers, etc. I'm not trying to be disrespectful but that's just my opinion. You're right about America though. Most Indians in America, and other western nations, do tend to be highly educated.
@Thedarksecret1 You're right, most people in India do hard physical labour as their occupation. However, there is a huge social taboo among middle class & higher class Indians about doing physical labour or work not involving a college degree. Most Indians in North America come from these classes. Even in India if a westerner states that he works construction or something Indians would find it bizarre. This is where the casteism/classism comes from. This is what Russell Peters is poking fun at.
@Thedarksecret1 Also most of the Indians doing hard physical labour in India are smaller, scrawnier & skinnier than Indians from the middle class & above. Russell Peters is poking fun at the usual body type of Indians which is skinny & devoid of muscularity commonly associated with hard physical labour. He's also right that Indians in India & abroad almost never play sports. Anyone who plays anything even mildy physically exerting would be considered an athlete.
@robfromvan Isn't cricket a popular sport in Indian? Yeah, I don't see them playing many sports in the U.S. unless they're leisure sports (i.e tennis, badminton, perhaps soccer, etc)
@Thedarksecret1 Correct! Cricket is popular but for some reason you never see any middle class or higher class people playing it. Only the poor. My dad grew up in India & he just came home from work every day & did homework & eventually became an accountant. I don't think he even played outside & most of my relatives over there are the same. They don't play any sports or do anything physically active. They spent all their time studying & never really had a childhood, just like my dad.
@Thedarksecret1 I do notice in Canada (where I'm from) there are more Indians from Northern India (Punjab) & these people do play more sports & also have more of a working class background. Consequently their kids tend to fit in better into North American society. But where my family comes from (Bombay/ Gujarat state) everyone tends to go home straight from school, do hours upon hours of homework, never play outside & become doctors, lawyers, accountants, etc. Its just a part of their upbringing
The most empowered people in SA at the moment are Indian South Africans. And i feel they deserve it. SA indians use their brains, compassion and hard work to achieve their goals. They have taken full advantage of BEE and business. The Blacks are in power, but the whites and indians control the cash. Weird huh ?
"Alright Roge, here is what you're gonna do. Get in that field... And Pick that Cotton." "No, No, I can't do it; I cant do... I hurt my back. Let me tell you what we'll do. O Kay? Youuuu, Pick the Cotton, and I will get the T-Shirts made... And together, we can whole sale it." HAHAHA Hilarious.

@robfromvan its not good to only restrict oneself to studies. A big problem in today's modern youth is the lack of activity they participate in.
there's no reason you can't be an 'A' student, and be on a soccer team.
