Its amazing that theres alot of love and nostalgia for steam by everyone of all ages. Its more amazing that there are admirers from across the Atlantic and other places abroad that like steam in Britain. We have faced some difficulties in keeping steam on the mainlines in Britian but we do what can to keep them running :)
I'm glad the good old fashioned Steam locomotives are still running to this day! Down here, there's only one left. Only runs 2 times per year, so I'd love to go railfanning in Britain. =-)
All steam engines need to stay in service is a bunch of dedicated enthusiasts. The love for them helps the great Steam Locomotive live on! =-) I love the whistle at 2:45, That was a great catch, you're a great railfan. =-)
What I did forget to mention to you and all is that what you see here might make history in years to come, as all of that route is to be electrified, meaning all that nice rail scenery you see here will be lost forever due to overhead wires and iron poles holding them :(
Ohh, I got to get over there, then! I was always planning to railfan in Britain before electrical trains replace beautiful trains like the King and Bristolian. I need to make a journey to England soon.
You get about a bit Ry! What a lovely film. Favorited and 5* Yet another special missed through working away. I am watching at Wembley arena. Once again one of my favorite clips of the year.
Ahh so you was the one beside me when getting the King at Didcot, I had a thought you was a fellow youtuber aswell. It was certainly a struggle not knowing which line she would be on till the last min!
One of the best steam videos I have seen in a long time. All the shots were really good but I can't say it better than NN2Blue - "The stillness of the air ......"!!
The location was great witht the height of the bank being just right to give a sense of looking up and power yet you were able to get a really long pan in.
In the last shot, love the way that the guy in the beanie takes a reflexive step back in response to the high speed of the train as it powers through.
Ahh that shot at the beggining was a tricky one to do mainly 'cause the wind was in the wrong direction meaning you dont hear the engine well at start. The night sequences were good to do as the lighting helped out. Cheers for commenting
Hmm did clock up a few hundred miles getting to these places and getting back home, was pretty expensive travelling but still well worth to go and get this rare run to Paddington.
very nice work .... cheers ;-)

Man, these trains are so cool, I really wish I lived in Britain. Here in the the US has only these boring old diesel-electric locomotives. :-(
I have always loved steams like this one much better.

Don't worry, the East Coast and West Coast main lines still have steam running under the wires from York and Crewe :)
What's more worrying is that the tour companies don't always have the means to make enough money to run these trains.

Great video Ryan. I believe that I was stood next to you at Didcot. That's what made it the 5* alone :) What a fantastic series of shots!

I must concede, that was very good service at the station. Having said that, we could hear 6024 from a long way off!!
