Probably because the truth is that huge numbers have Americans have been displaced by Indians and that any hiring by Indian corporations is completely insignificant in comparison.

By even attempting to report any glimmer of benefit you would indirectly be forced to tell the truth. The truth is to be avoided at all costs.

That's a myth. NO H1B has EVER founded a fortune 500 company. A few had foreign born founders but NONE of them were H1Bs.

I am a math phd student, who was recently telling a dept secretary how hard it was for me to get around without a car (which i cannot afford). Being from poland and as a new computer science grad from American college my experience was exactly the contrary. It took 3 months for me to land an OK offer while most of my American classmates got offers earlier than me. Many companies came to the on-campus job fair with a 'No sponsorship for H1B's', because of the saved cost and hassles from the immigration procedures.

It is clear that many companies will not sponsor H1B if they can hire an American.

let's not fool ourselves here. H1b is not used for doctors, its not used for phd math professors. its used for one thing only for cheap low wage workers in the I.T. industry and thats it. There is a nursing shortage right now, how many of them are being issued h1b visas?

That is completely untrue. A lot of H-1B visas are for IT workers, but not the majority. H-1B visas are also used for science, engineering, and yes, medicine. This issue is contentious enough; let's not muddy the waters further by making outlandish and overly broad claims.

Excuse me? You're the one who said that H1Bs are NOT used for doctors and math profs. That's completely wrong. Are they less than 5%? Sure, but that's because H1Bs are also used for many other professions other than IT.

IT covers nearly half of all H1Bs. I don't contest that. I was contesting your claim that "H1b is not usef for doctors, its not used for math professors." That's just wrong.

no im not, its more than half. try more like 90%. very rarely is the h1b used for non-tech professions. you might be confused with the h1 visa itself, but h1(b) is specifically meant for foreign tech workers.

That's not the claim you were defending earlier. You said that H-1Bs were used exclusively (or later, almost exclusively) for *IT* jobs. High-tech encompasses far more than just IT; in fact, I cited several examples of non-IT high-tech jobs.

Please learn the difference between IT and high-tech. No knowledgeble tech worker would consider the two to be equivalent.

All these H1b laws are already on the book and they aren't enforced.

Only 120000 new high tech jobs last year while 300000 new grads - There's no labor shortage. Too many Americas with high Tech degrees can not find work.
