Ya sure... add more regulations to H1B. More encouragement to outsource jobs... India's start many software firms in US and hire hundrers of Americans. Where is the story on that ?
Probably because the truth is that huge numbers have Americans have been displaced by Indians and that any hiring by Indian corporations is completely insignificant in comparison.
By even attempting to report any glimmer of benefit you would indirectly be forced to tell the truth. The truth is to be avoided at all costs.
An analogy would be pointing to a zirconium diamond at the bottom of the outhouse holding tank.
Vinod Kosla of India and Andy Bechtelsheim of Germany co-founded Sun. 25 percent of the technology and engineering companies launched in the past decade had at least one foreign-born founder.
We're talking about H1Bs. Kosla and Bechtlesheim were not H1Bs. The question at hand isn't "do foreign born people contribute" the question is "are H1Bs founding Fortune 500 companies"? Still waiting: which Fortune 500 companies was founded by an H1B?
This just shows how little your know, foreign-born people primarily come to Study/Work and stay here on worker visa. This is specially true for tech industry, check out any university.
you didn't answer my question: which Fortune 500 company was founded by an H1B? You are dogging the question! The lobbyists are saying that these companies are founded by H1Bs, please post back the name of the Fortune 500 companies founded by H1Bs!
you know what: i am glad that the american middle class gets hit. I am a math phd student, who was recently telling a dept secretary how hard it was for me to get around without a car (which i cannot afford). You know what she said: "LIKE A GRAD STUDENT, TAKE A TRAIN", its not that taking train is lowly..just how she said it... she thinks we are on the same footing: doesnt matter that i have 2 extra college degrees: if this is what middle class thinks, i would be glad to BE UPPER CLASS ONE DAY!
Being from poland and as a new computer science grad from American college my experience was exactly the contrary. It took 3 months for me to land an OK offer while most of my American classmates got offers earlier than me. Many companies came to the on-campus job fair with a 'No sponsorship for H1B's', because of the saved cost and hassles from the immigration procedures.
It is clear that many companies will not sponsor H1B if they can hire an American.
Name one commercial software product you have written and shipped? What's that? None? The silence is deafening. Steve Jobs & Bill Gates are both college dropouts. You are here to take from America, not to help us.
let's not fool ourselves here. H1b is not used for doctors, its not used for phd math professors. its used for one thing only for cheap low wage workers in the I.T. industry and thats it. There is a nursing shortage right now, how many of them are being issued h1b visas?
"H1b is not used for doctors, its not used for phd math professors. its used for one thing only for cheap low wage workers in the I.T. industry and thats it"
That is completely untrue. A lot of H-1B visas are for IT workers, but not the majority. H-1B visas are also used for science, engineering, and yes, medicine. This issue is contentious enough; let's not muddy the waters further by making outlandish and overly broad claims.
excuse me? but the stats speak for themselves. the people you are talkingn about barely make up 5% if not less of the h1b recipents. I have a cousin here from India, on a student visa just dying for his h1b. so dont sit here bullshit me ok.
"excuse me? .. the people you are talkingn about barely make up 5% if not less of the h1b recipents."
Excuse me? You're the one who said that H1Bs are NOT used for doctors and math profs. That's completely wrong. Are they less than 5%? Sure, but that's because H1Bs are also used for many other professions other than IT.
IT covers nearly half of all H1Bs. I don't contest that. I was contesting your claim that "H1b is not usef for doctors, its not used for math professors." That's just wrong.
no im not, its more than half. try more like 90%. very rarely is the h1b used for non-tech professions. you might be confused with the h1 visa itself, but h1(b) is specifically meant for foreign tech workers.
"no im not, its more than half. try more like 90%. very rarely is the h1b used for non-tech professions"
That's not the claim you were defending earlier. You said that H-1Bs were used exclusively (or later, almost exclusively) for *IT* jobs. High-tech encompasses far more than just IT; in fact, I cited several examples of non-IT high-tech jobs.
Please learn the difference between IT and high-tech. No knowledgeble tech worker would consider the two to be equivalent.
I would say that Lou Dobbs is already our President in the sense that he truly defends America and its citizens -- not CEOs. Does Bush REALLY defend Americans? No. He defends CEOs with every action and word.
All these H1b laws are already on the book and they aren't enforced.
Only 120000 new high tech jobs last year while 300000 new grads - There's no labor shortage. Too many Americas with high Tech degrees can not find work.
Vote Tom Tancredo 2008 - He will kill the H1b program
ALL AMERICANS AGAINST H1B TAKE THIS:Your global companies sell products globally causing loss of local businesses and jobs. then these companies pay tax in usa and you enjoy that tax. Don't you. so you want globalization go one way only for your benefit but dont want it to come towards you...grow up and think balanced....
Oh, but what is wrong with all the JOBS the developing nations are getting at our expense? Why aren't they supporting those local businesses? You know, these comp[anies are doing the same to Americans as they are to other countries. By stopping H1b visas, we force those companies to invest in the communities they sell their products
Kill H1B and fire all the doctors from Asia and Europe who are cheap(300k yearly)..
Then see how your Medical costs go up with American doctors who then will earn(700k yearly) those Medical costs with which America is already struggling right now.
Also fire all those Asian and European PhD professors who teach Math and science. Do you have enough PhD's to teach your kids? Let Lou Dobbs A**Hole teach your kids physics or math....poor you.You dont even understand what you are demanding. You need H1b.You are so unfortunate that I have to tell you all this.
cheap labour???i make $80,000 per annum on my H1 visa...is that cheap by american standards..

That's a myth. NO H1B has EVER founded a fortune 500 company. A few had foreign born founders but NONE of them were H1Bs.

Do Indian MIS managers hire whites before Indians even in the white nations who invited them in to work?
Whites go to the extintion pile...please.
