  • so i can get back in time and see if Gesus was real?

  • For some reason, I really dislike Stephen Hawking. A very close-minded, "science is everything" type of person.

  • @kramnodd9 Science is everything...

  • @kramnodd9

What else is there that is real?

  • @kramnodd9 science is everything

  • I'm gathering that the act of being in motion at all is travelling forward in time; and to travel backwards you'd have to be still?

  • Wonder how fast he dribbles !

  • I wonder how fast his wheelchair goes...

  • He has to get it up to 88mph.... Great Scott!

  • The problem, in brief, is that time may not exist at the most fundamental level of physical reality. If so, then what is time? Time itself may not actually exist.

  • @RobbeyT It's most likely just a joke.

  • @RobbeyT I was just thinking the same thing...idk

  • @RobbeyT Could life exist without time? That would be interesting.

  • @RobbeyT Time itself is an evading illusion of reality created by that of the self and the human ego because there has to be a beginning and end to everything in the eye's of human's. Its mearly a fabrication to keep us all from going crazy, a way of measuring distance and causality in moving from one event to the next.

  • at 3:16 it says h20 content is 12.1 but dyhodrogen monoxide is H20 so 1.002=12.1? dumb.

  • We all time-travel, every day, one second at a time.

  • The 4th Dimension is all about the speed of time :)

  • The R8 V10 made it a bit more interesting. :)

  • listen...if there were time travel..wouldn't it have already happened and we would know all of this stuff because someone from the future would bring such a devise and show that it is real?

  • @pklisz

One conjecture is that any society capable of traveling back in time, also has a rigid set of laws dedicated to preserving the timeline. Thus, they would make sure not to interfere with the past in any way and only observe. They would not reveal themselves or their technology.

Another is that going back in time creates a new timeline. So if a person from Timeline A goes back into the past, he would not go into Timeline A's past, but into a new Timeline B that is separate.

  • @pklisz It has. The governments are hiding this from us, not aliens. The time travelers from the far future represent more of a disturbance to our society than alien contact. They come from a future where human kind either no longer exist or has evolved into something no longer completely recognizable. If the truth were known people would lose their faith in religion, in government and in humanity itself.

  • @GhostofCicero there is no question the the government hides. they should, if people knew everything the world would go mad. they must hide to control the masses, and you're telling me within a whole universe that there is no other form of life that is more advanced than ours?

  • Visit my channel for the full program.... It's called.... Into the Universe with Stephen Hawking - Time Travel.

Un-sub this DOUCHE and sub me if you want these programs in full length!

  • @EpicChannel87 Dude...its not there...

  • Love the show but how do you explain this: ultimate-theory-of-everything dot c o m? Time has to exist or all our physics mean nothing.

  • Dat R8

  • light vader

  • thumbs up if you'd rather a 4th spatial dimension instead of this boring time dimension...

  • Ive come to the conclusion that Stephen Hawking is a know it all idiot. He speaks like hes giving you facts the big headed crackpot.

  • Last night, Darth Vader came down from planet Vulcan and told me that if I didn't take Lorraine out that he'd melt my brain.

  • that car was an Audi R8!! hahaha it just makes me so happy they used that; it's my favorite car ever hahaha.

  • At 3:17, it says: H2O Content:12.1% and Dihydrogen monoxide:1.0021397% but H2O and dihydrogen monoxide are the same thing

  • idk man im high

  • Just a question.... If time traveling or creating wormholes(portals that travel in time)was actually possible, don't you think that if we could ACTUALLY travel to the future that people in the future can travel to the past? Last time I checked, I haven't seen some crazy future dude show up in our time... Or do we even have a future... Just think about it.

  • @lavamaster530 Well, apart from the fact that we can't successfully cryogenically freeze and unfreeze a person (yet), we are all moving 'forward' in time now by ageing - but that is not what is commonly meant by time travel.

And it irrelevant to argue that something has been mathematically proven if there is no physical evidence to back it up - like the ludicrous String theory. Mathematics can never dictate what can happen in reality - it can only confirm reality.

  • Time travel, in any direction, is impossible because time is a concept used to describe any change - not some ''space'' (location) which we can move about in or manipulate in any way.

  • @1thermon Time travel is possible but only in traveling forward in time. It is mathematically and scientifically proven. For example if we can cryogenically freeze someone's body and unfreeze that body like 200 years from now, it is technically considered time traveling.

  • if going forwards in a straight line is the first dimension, going right or left is the second dimension, and going up and down being the third dimension... wouldn't make going backwards be the fourth?

  • @sneesneer no cause u would still be on the same trail as the 1st, 2nd and 3rd dimension so the definition of backwards is basically doing the same thing just backwards but define backwards? for example if i got to cotco from my home and then go back to my home all i did was basically the same thing but we define it as backwards but at the end of the day u did the same thing, which is on ur way back u drove either up right left even if u put ur car on revers ur still driving foreword

  • If we ever did make a backwards time machine, than it would only work back to the time it was first invented.

  • the time traveler would be gordon freeman

  • :)

  • This is why i have trouble believing that time travel would take you to a past or future earth in OUR DIMENSION. If it ever did (in the Far Far future) happen why hasn't anyone come back to tell us. now i do think there could be laws against it,( in there time ) but why would there, and what about the first time. we are still here meaning if they ever did it it did not destroy time and space. so I could possibly believe that time travel takes us not to a past or future in our READ COMMENT BELOW

  • @Ben182010 Interesting theory.

  • @Ben182010 would that create a paradox

  • @58book which part

  • @Ben182010 There may have been people who accomplished time traveling but so far it is nearly impossible to even travel backwards. So far it's been proven that we can travel in time to the future.

  • @lavamaster530 well i see what your saying because iv thought of that too. we can only go one way in time and that's to the future not the past. so its either a one way street, a trip to infinite alternate universes, or Time travel ( the kind we see in movies) is impossible.

  • @Ben182010 Exactly. Only way to truly go back in time is to have a trans-parallel universe type of vehicle that can pin-point an exact copy of your universe but in the past which is like 1 in a billion chances of finding that exact universe.

  • @lavamaster530 1 in a billion don't you mean 1 in infinity.

  • @lavamaster530 i think its impossible to travel backwards im sure of it but traveling forword will mean that u will get older as well cause ur basically traveling using time and time will age u so u cant travel thousand years to the future cause u would be dead. i don't believe that u can travel to the future and see ur old self cause that would be a parallel universe not time travel

  • time but to a different past, present, or future dimension and this theory has its own problems. but the way i see it is there is an infinite amount of universes on top of us and vis versa so going faster than the speed of light pushes us past our own dimension and into the next and so on and so on. but what about the opposite direction for this i believe it might have something to do with Absolute zero slowing us down enough to fall out of our dimension so on and so on. so what do you think.

  • @skywarn477a Not necessarily. There are many different ideas for time travel such as alternate universes and the idea that travelling back in time causes what already occurred. These stop paradoxes from happening.

  • Bet it was Stephen Hawking driving that car, with his mind =)

  • 3:00 - "My name is Darth Vader. I am an extraterrestrial from the planet Vulcan!"

  • What about the Creature From The Beyond? Ever think of that you dummies? Go into that there worm hole and pop out somewhere where the Creature From The Beyond is waiting!!!

  • darth vader lol

  • @MegaDeathripper Wash your winkie

  • @MegaDeathripper you're a dick sir

  • How can we travel trough time?

Use Docs deLorean instead of audi.

  • @DonkeyPunchYoBitch Which would lead us to that movement equals time in space. So the fourth dimension would be time?

  • Fuck im the 5,666 viewer...

  • aren't there 10 dimensions??

  • Big bang is to porsche what uniontera is to ferrari.

  • When the guy in the white suit breathes, he sounds like darth vader. sorry. i just had to point that out. haha

  • Think about it time travel must be impossible because we have never met a person from the future it's just science fiction if only we could but we can't and if my understanding is right we never will

  • @Bigben028STL Well imagine what a 2D creature would see of us. A 3D creature would appear from thin air to a 2D creature and even then it could only see a line at a time.... And the 2D creature would be like WTF just happen? Where did you come from?!? And the 3D creature says "I came from UP" & now he's all like.. WTF IS UP? CAN YOU POINT TO UP? Well he can't he's only 2D - the dimension where UP^ is not conceptualized. In return we are in the same boat trying to see or conceptualize the 4D

  • Shit....

    I'm the 666th viewer...

  • why are there always two explanations of the 4th dimension? its either time, or another actual physical dimension with the tesseract?

  • @DimebagsLeftToe it's the same explanation really. if you were 5 dimensional, time would look just like another direction in "space" for you, like a tesseract has an extra dimension that pulls all its angles to 90 degrees.

  • @playadominical so time would be space now?

  • @DimebagsLeftToe that's the way i understand it. it's like how a 2D being would perceive height as some fleeting, hard to fully understand concept, while we see it as just another direction in space. if you told a 2D being that height is at right angles to width and length, he'd be pretty confused by that statement. same idea for time as far as we're concerned. after all, time is a direction, but we can't make sense of it all at once.

  • @playadominical wow. wow.

  • @DimebagsLeftToe my basic understand that is with the tesseract there is another way to view an object (a shadow is 2d the physical object is 3d (length width height), and the 4d would be just another view which we cant actually show). In terms of spacetime which is the space we can travel but we also go though that invisible thing called time which is the 4th dimension. i could be completely wrong but from my reading into it thats what i got.

  • @joelelsd I think you are absolutely correct, although i'm neither very experienced in this subject.

  • @DimebagsLeftToe There can be a shitload of dimensions.

  • @DimebagsLeftToe Time or Spacial is what you are asking... It's both... Space-Time duality... wether physicists believe this or not doesn't matter... I'm still right.. Haha, jk... I honestly believe in the space-time duality.. it makes the most sense... but what might be confusing you is the terminology... We can have a higher dimension that is spacial and we can also have a higher dimension that is a time-axes... Some people call one the fourth and one the fifth, or one the 8th and one the 10th

  • @DimebagsLeftToe There are mathematical and physical dimensions, which are different in the ways you said.

  • Comment removed

  • @DimebagsLeftToe nvm my earlier comment, misread your comment.

In astrophysics, the 4th dimension is time - and another physical dimension.

  • @DimebagsLeftToe Imagine time as a sequence of photos, these seemingly 2-dimensional objects would form a cube together. So if you imagine our world as two dimensional you can put them in a sequence to form the 3rd dimension. The 4th is only the third dimension forming a shape in another direction by creating this sequence we call time.

  • @AllNamesWereOccupied so time IS spatial?

  • @DimebagsLeftToe @DimebagsLeftToe Yeah I believe you can say it is spatial, but its more giving you an eternal number of places you can be at at once without colliding because 3 dimensional objects wouldn´t interact on a 4 dimensional scale. Just like 2 dimensional objects wouldn´t interact on a 3 dimensional space, because the 3rd dimension is out of reach by the flatlanders, the many two dimensional options form another dimension.

  • @DimebagsLeftToe its not one or the other but both.

  • @DimebagsLeftToe Time is another dimension pretty much exactly like the three you can see. The dimesions are length, width, height and when. To discribe an object you have to have all three. The reason you can't interact with your past and future selves (you are a 4th dimesional being) is because of the speed of light. Everything you can know goes at the speed of light and is instantanious so you get a series of snapshots, like 2d pics of 3d space, but 3d pics of 4d spacetime.

  • @phookadude my god.. that last sentence blew my mind. thank you

  • @phookadude

I can't quite wrap my mind around this concept of yours, although the hints are intriguing. Regarding the speed of light and your past/future selves. Why exactly is everything I can know going at the speed of light? Are you saying time has a speed/flow that matches light?

  • @dunnono00 If something is going near the speed of light time slows down, if you go the speed of light then time slows down infinately for you, light goes that fast so if it lasted for any length of time it would last forever. From it's perspective it exsists as a solid beam from source to destination and for no time. The reason we percive light to have a speed is because we are moving through time at the speed of light and it's actually standing still as we zip by.

  • @dunnono00 We can only know things at the speed of light because it takes light (or something moving the same or slower) to transmit information to us. If you look at it from the light's perspective the light comming from your monitor, the light from the sun 8 light minutes away and the light from a distant star all exsist at the same moment in time that they hit your retina. The really weird thing is that by going near the speed of light you can change wich moment you intercept.

  • "As it turns out, we THINK they are!"

    I lol'd!
