OH BROTHER>>>Bring me back!!! Back to 9th -10th grade Where it ALL began for TRUE music!! So Outcasted by 90% of my school for it. As they were ALL listening to Color Me Bad and Boys to Men, and even Extreme...yeah...that was their version of rock LMAO!! ; but fuck em all!!! Where are All those A.H.'s Now!!?
I LOVED every minute of it!! And still/forever will!!
To those upcomming generations...
STICK TO YOUR GUNS.. ..You Will prevail \m/ \m/ \m/
This was by far the best MTV VMAs ever. In addition to VH there were great performances by Metallica, Queensryche, GN'R, Poison and many more I can't recall. Lent my copy to some girl and never got it back. I wish MTV would sell copies of the VMAs. I would buy this one in a heartbeat.
I'd say, considering how much props PG give to EVH, and all the stories he tells about about copping licks from Van Halen...he probably doesn't care that Eddie used a drill on one song....and, well neither should we.
@brunthroath6912 even if paul used it first, i think it is alright for eddie to start taking some of other peoples ideas once and while since everyone does it him! :) i think he also borrowed the little harmonic thing in the verse from satriani. its all good though
Somewhere I have this tape. Def Leppard also did "Tear It Down" at this show. But then, just months later... a certain grunge band came along to change rock music... not necessarily for the better.
@pat2x7 I like both bands. But if you took all the albums from Van Halen and all the albums from Def Leppard in front of me and told me that I had to pick one, I'm definitely picking Fair Warning. So based on that, I agree.
@JZimm8787 Def Leppard performed "Tear It Down" at the '89 VMAs. This was from '91. This was the show that was opened a few minutes earlier by Pee Wee Herman and his infamous line "heard any good jokes lately?" (after his arrest for indecent exposure). Arsenio Hall was a great host. He was actually funny, not like the hosts today who try hard (and fail miserably) to be funny.
I want to see someone post them in 96 at this show when they got all wierd. You know when DLR was dancing behind Beck showing off a little and having fun while the other 3 acted like girl scouts.
1991, back when Van Halen actually showed up for award shows......

Who started using the drill first? VH or Paul Gilbert? I think it was Paul.
brunthroath6912 1 year ago
Late reply, but it was defo Paul, by half a decade in fact. Annoys me when people say Paul stole it!
YummyBananaFish 1 year ago
@YummyBananaFish Yeah tought so.. thanks for clearing that up :D
brunthroath6912 1 year ago
@YummyBananaFish Yea, but Paul mainly used it as an aid for picking; it had several picks attached. Eddie just used it for the sound on his pickup.

Those were the days!!!!
F.U.C.K. is the best god damn Van Halen record EVER!
And they had one of the best rock singers of all time on their team, Sam The Red Rocker!
What a downer it must be for Eddie and Alex to have that Creepy, ballet-dancing weirdo Roth singing again!
Without the clown-act, that guy is nothing!
He sure as hell can't sing worth shit!
Man, I miss the Van Hagar days...

i simply agree F.U.C.K was their perhaps greatest record.

Sounds like his mouth is barely open man ! ! !
