  • 1991, back when Van Halen actually showed up for award shows......

  • 91 van halen and metallica 92 nirvana pearl jam and guns n roses the two best vmas ever

  • @mmtna Yep, September 24th, 1991 marks the official day the 80's culture came to an end.

  • @xytsdx2 Amen! Rock n Roll went from good times to bitching about life! Grunge pretty much sucked!

  • @mmtna sorry, i meant to reply to someone else

  • Hagar performs like he has epilepsy.

    No stage presence.

  • Wow, vma performances are all computer programmed and auto tuned crap these days!

  • OH BROTHER>>>Bring me back!!! Back to 9th -10th grade Where it ALL began for TRUE music!! So Outcasted by 90% of my school for it. As they were ALL listening to Color Me Bad and Boys to Men, and even Extreme...yeah...that was their version of rock LMAO!! ; but fuck em all!!! Where are All those A.H.'s Now!!?

I LOVED every minute of it!! And still/forever will!!

    To those upcomming generations...

STICK TO YOUR GUNS.. ..You Will prevail \m/ \m/ \m/

  • This was by far the best MTV VMAs ever. In addition to VH there were great performances by Metallica, Queensryche, GN'R, Poison and many more I can't recall. Lent my copy to some girl and never got it back. I wish MTV would sell copies of the VMAs. I would buy this one in a heartbeat.

  • this is the van halen EYE love.

  • what did sammy say at the beginning of the video? "thank you..." who?

  • @MeYouView ARS...Arsenio Hall was the host....

  • I'd say, considering how much props PG give to EVH, and all the stories he tells about about copping licks from Van Halen...he probably doesn't care that Eddie used a drill on one song....and, well neither should we.

  • Who started using the drill first? VH or Paul Gilbert? I think it was Paul.

  • Late reply, but it was defo Paul, by half a decade in fact. Annoys me when people say Paul stole it!

  • @YummyBananaFish Yeah tought so.. thanks for clearing that up :D

  • @YummyBananaFish Yea, but Paul mainly used it as an aid for picking; it had several picks attached. Eddie just used it for the sound on his pickup.

  • @brunthroath6912 even if paul used it first, i think it is alright for eddie to start taking some of other peoples ideas once and while since everyone does it him! :) i think he also borrowed the little harmonic thing in the verse from satriani. its all good though

  • @JD0GxAUDI0 He has all the rights LOL he's been ripped off by so many... EVH FTW

  • Somewhere I have this tape. Def Leppard also did "Tear It Down" at this show. But then, just months later... a certain grunge band came along to change rock music... not necessarily for the better.

  • @JZimm8787 VH is much better then Def Leppard

  • @pat2x7 I like both bands. But if you took all the albums from Van Halen and all the albums from Def Leppard in front of me and told me that I had to pick one, I'm definitely picking Fair Warning. So based on that, I agree.

  • @pat2x7 Only in your dreams.

  • @JZimm8787 Def Leppard performed "Tear It Down" at the '89 VMAs. This was from '91. This was the show that was opened a few minutes earlier by Pee Wee Herman and his infamous line "heard any good jokes lately?" (after his arrest for indecent exposure). Arsenio Hall was a great host. He was actually funny, not like the hosts today who try hard (and fail miserably) to be funny.

  • DAVID LEE ROTH THE BEST VOICE SINCE HARD ROCK yeahhhhhhhhh sammy hagar is very good

VAN HALEN MY FAVORITE BAND yeahh

  • I think Eddie should do DIY adverts. They would rock big time :P. I love this period of Van. Hager and Eddie make great albums :)

  • hahaha "that was live??"

  • lol!

man i havent seen that in years!!!!!!

  • VAN HAGAR!!!!!!

  • This is the BEST! MTV Awards that I saw EVER!

  • I agree, it gave me chills that year. I has been a downward spiral ever since reaching hellish lows. :)

  • remenda cancion pero el audio una mierda ambulante

  • Hey! Mikey's wearing leather pants! LOL

  • I want to see someone post them in 96 at this show when they got all wierd. You know when DLR was dancing behind Beck showing off a little and having fun while the other 3 acted like girl scouts.

  • severo joint!

  • My G O D I love that song ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

  • awesome perfomance, like every other of VAN HALEN in the good times of VAN HAGAR ;P

  • Those were the days!!!!

F.U.C.K. is the best god damn Van Halen record EVER!

And they had one of the best rock singers of all time on their team, Sam The Red Rocker!

What a downer it must be for Eddie and Alex to have that Creepy, ballet-dancing weirdo Roth singing again!

Without the clown-act, that guy is nothing!

He sure as hell can't sing worth shit!

Man, I miss the Van Hagar days...

  • i simply agree F.U.C.K was their perhaps greatest record.

  • No Doubt ! ! !

  • we were are own opening act. lol

  • sammy hagar is the better front man, sorry dave.

  • heel no

  • man, this was very cool

  • This is Van Halen at their best imo.

  • Hagar looked like eddie veder here

  • Except he looked like he was having fun

  • Hagar looks nothing like Eddie Vedder there.. Never has, never will.. Hagar is ugly, and Eddie is perfect!

  • May be....

....but Eddie Vedder can't fuckin' sing worth shit.

Sounds like his mouth is barely open man ! ! !

  • Then you never really heard him sing.

It's not about screaming all the time you know..
