@leonidas1977livi yeah British MTP is 7 shades just to keep it British we added DPM into the cammo their is a shade of pink 2 this makes our soldiers in the heat haze of afghan look like foliage from a distance we just look like a rock or bush its really good cammo tbh
Sorry but you only have one picture of Multi Terrain Pattern in that whole video. The opening phot is of what was a proposed 3-colour des pattern under PECOC (similar to 4-colour des we sold to Iraq, hence having to hurriedly invent 2-colour des in 1991) with Hybrid DPM armour/PLCE, and that and currently issued kit is what you see after 1.44 also.
MTP will not neccesarily be a universal cam as 2-tone Des DPM will stay around for clothing. Also MTP is not Multicam, it has a different pattern.
@PhantineXX1 Your a retard. Not that i should even lower myself to corret some pre-teen twat who plays soldier. This multi cam has been specificlly developed for use in the green belt in afghan, so little baby cadets like you ownt ever get a chance to wear it. The Normal DPM will be worn while at home. "i dont think they should change the camo" You are right, you dont think.
Now that the Brits beat us to the multicam, do you think that adopting it now might not happen for political bullshit reasons like saving face? Would having identical patterns with Britain pose any other problems?
better if we got a new fucking gun ! instead of camo....at the end of the day your clothes is not going to save you once compramised its your gun ! and a good reliable gun is the way to do it...But wait the british government are dicks and are to tight to put money in its military >;|
Yes, those armored things with tracks. Most of Afghanistan is NOT mountains too steep for LIGHT tanks with low-ground pressures that can traverse rocks and steep inclines.
The L85A2 is excellent, with the new ACOG sight I dont think theres a better rifle available. The Minimi again is excellent and you'll struggle to find a better support weapon unless you look at the GPMG. So whats your point?
@ vennom212. if your refering to the SA80 its a rifle mate, not a gun. i've been using it for 3 years, and i've only ever had 2 stoppages. its a great bit of kit (even though its taken years to get it too its current high standard).
Keeping a stiff upper chin about your shitty rifle? I keed I keed. I also dug the looks of the SA80, but when I had a chance to fire it, I found it too loud, didn't like the ergos, and the trigger pull was meh. Follow up shots were a lot faster than with an M4 though.
It's a good camouflage, we are REALLY over-due for a new one, so this can only be good. (For once the MOD makes a GOOD decision in what it gives our guys)
Hopefully now they will modernize the design of clothing so it's not from the 40s. And why is our helmet such a wacky shape? Why are British helmets always fucking WACKY!? The US MITCH is FINE ffs!
The U.s. had first dibs on Multicam which is what the British pattern is based from. I think DayGlo won the U.S. army contract since I've heard the U.S. army pattern called that and yes the patern does glow in thick forrests.
@BlacktailDefense there is only 1 reason the U.S. hav chosen acu cus it looks cool same reson the use the v22 osprey although they hav probly all crashed by now
The new camo looks a bit like some ASAT pattern I own. Still the wrong idea: same pattern throughout the human silhouette. Maybe the Brits will do what they've been known for in the past, wearing different patterns for upper and lower.
Took them 40 years but at least they didn't pick a random color, slap it on a uniform for kicks, then claim it's "universal".
That picture at 2:27 really shows how effective this camo is! I'd wager you'd almost be invisible if you go prone, at a distance greater than, say, 100 meters. If I were looking at the vast expanse of the desert, my eye wouldn't register that someone wearing that camo and sticking low is a person, or a threat for that matter. And that's how you know it does its job.

What are you on about? The SA80 is a great weapon, reliable when cleaned well and plenty accurate enough. Rated extremely highly on the NATO tests.
No need to change what isnt broke...

betcha the army ends up going with that ucp delta stuff. though this a-tacs pattern seems promising

You mean saving bureaucratic face is more important than accomplishing the mission and saving Soldier lives?
dynmicpara 2 years ago
A camo pattern with shapes, textures, and colors found in nature --- it's such a simple concept, even a computer model can't mess it up.
Seriously, what major malfunction do the designers of ACUPAT have?
