In the NFL it's only illegal to hit helmet to helmet on "defenseless" receivers or the quarterback behind the line of scrimmage. College football has the rules that state any helmet to helmet, ie kickoffs, running backs running through the hole, ANYTHING, and they can throw the flag. They better watch out before they ruin the game.

Plus in AF the ball is continually passed forward which speeds the running up, in rugby the ball is passed behind so you can't run as fast. Also in AF anyone gets hit, not just the ball carrier. Those three aspects = bigger hits and more blindside hits where you cant protect yourself. I play both, try AF and you'll know what I mean.
