  • Genius!

  • This peice makes me yearn for freedom. I used to think about it in my prison cell and play it in my head.

  • Although Beethoven wrote a very few overtures this is one of my favs. Thx

  • The connection starting at 1:37 up is very similar to a connection in his 3rd piano concerto, 1st movement at the end of the 1st theme.

  • Germans may of been evil, but they knew how to make good music!

*that was a joke please don't take what I just said seriously!*

  • was this overture composed for Eleonore Von Breuning??? she was Beethoven's first student, best friend through all his life and his first love! do you know if this was for her???

  • @evg4ever Sounds like Bethoven was freind zoned by her! lol

  • Who are the orchestra and conductor?

  • @Garpinator

Sorry, I haven't gotten information regarding orchestra and conductor. If I had, I'd have posted it with the music. I don't like lack of identification either.

  • I am so happy that I was able to find a recording of this piece! This past semester in the chamber orchestra I was in, we played this piece. Albeit not nearly as beautifully, but I was so thrilled to play such a beautiful piece!

A recording of this is very hard to find, thank you so much for uploading it!

  • @andreybeci and @electronicsdrive

Thanks for your effort in enhancing the music information. I welcome it.

  • Une bien belle version; qui l'interprète ?? Mon passage préféré est de 7.50 à 8.20...

  • This was the first overture for Fidelio. I have a bit of a story. One day I was driving along the road in my car, with the radio on WFCR-FM in Amherst. I was listening, and suddenly there was a piece. It was unmistakeably Beethoven, but it wasn't very good. This is the piece. If you ever wondered what Beethoven sounded like on an off day, listen to this one, and you'll know.

  • @Kenchely Wasn't very good? Are you kidding? This isn't the best thing he ever wrote, but it's certainly beautiful.

  • No. Despite the numbering, "#1" was actually written third, for a planned 1807 performance in Prague. Leonore #2 was the first overture.

  • @electronicsdrive

correct! bravo! yes, Leonore #1 was written in 1807 around the same time as the 5th symphony. it is quite confusing since even many older books do not have that info correct.

  • Congratulations!!!

I respect for your passion to the music!!!

I am looking forward to meet your next fruit!!!

    A Happy New Year!!!
