I think it is somewhat ignorant for us as Americans, or even us as blacks to genuinely believe that Latinos/as of color do not exist. There is historical proof of the fact that African slaves were brought to the carribean islands to harvest the sugar cane plantations. They were also brought to Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Mexico. Also, African slaves would account for the nearly 6 million people who live in Brazil to have roots that trace back to Africa.

I think it is somewhat ignorant for us as Americans, or even us as blacks to genuinely believe that Latinos/as of color do not exist. There is historical proof of the fact that African slaves were brought to the carribean islands to harvest the sugar cane plantations. They were also brought to Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Mexico. Also, African slaves would account for the nearly 6 million people who live in Brazil to have roots that trace back to Africa.

Hispanic is not a race, so all three of these girls would be mixed race to some degree. The first girl is mixed race, triracial called Pardo mixed with Black, White, and Native American. @catonic The genetic study source: (Poloni et al. 1997). So as you can see, Ethiopians average at 60% African ancestry and 40% Caucasian ancestry. So in all actuality, Ethiopians are not Black or White, they are mixed race, or Mulatto, which ever one you want to call it. So it is you that needs to pick up the book and go to history class. Your mom probably has European features because she is mixed with European. If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, then it's probably a duck.

What most people in the U.S. consider "West Indian" or "Latino" has to do more with skin color and racial ancestry than anything else (Haitians are also "Latinos"). Which is funny b/c there are many dark brown-skinned Afro-Latinos in places many Americans would never even think there was any "black" (like these girls in this video for an example) people and many Caribbeans that are not of Afro-descent at all. Almost ALL countries in the Americas are a mixture of different peoples (I would say that Latin America and the Caribbean are even more racially diverse than most parts of the U.S.). It varies from region to region within even the nations itself.

I know that Jamaicans have had a large influence on Hip Hop. From the early styles of rapping to the art form of DJing originates there (developed differently in different places as time went on). But since there was also AAs and Peurto Ricans involved in the early stages of Hip Hop in the Bronx I added them also.
I am VERY suprised most people do not know this though. I have know that for years (since I was in Elementary school).
