1. It has a lot of background noise in the two front mic/ins inputs. It's official problem of Fast Track Pro, and there is no solution for that. In short: If you want to record crispy clear vocal sessions - this is not your solution.
2. Can't record what you heard from your OS (windows , OS or whatever) . It has a way to put different sound cart and route the sound from source card to M-Audio. ->
xlr, either line1 or line2, might need to get an adapter to go from 1/4" male (to plug into the guitar), to male XLR (to plug into the fast track pro)

@jokee Hi. Yes you can . The latency is minimal something between inputs 10/ms output 12/ms . Which you can't hear on ear. I use it with a cubase and few VST instruments with MIDI keyboard - work like charm. Except the problems that I share in my recent comments.

I know how you feel though, I had a Line6 GX take a shit on me after a year of use. If you don't have a warranty or anything, you might have to buy a whole new one.

@skakky get an adapter that converts the green, orange and black cables to one single 3.5mm jack. you will then have to get a 3.5mm to 1/4 jack (guitar lead) to plug into the front of the interface. have fun...

@airnoy99 Im wondering the same thing about this one. I had the Maudio Firewire400 and was doing the same thing. First of all you dont need additional software because your Mac has Garageband, you can record into that. It takes a bit of fiddling around in Garagebands Audio Preferences but it works ok. The only thing is i couldn't get great sound quality because it would clip alot when the music was loud.
Hey man, I got this fast track pro and a mic (SP b1) and I got signal but when I try to record sound into a daw it doesn't work... there is nothing recording, and I tried allready both inputs and all inputs possible in my daws. I really need help. It would be cool if somebody could answer.
this soundcard sucks. i'm using it in ableton on windows 7. so much noise and crackle issues. i tried _everything_ to get it working properly.
when i switch the light in my room on/off the fast track pro crashes or does noise and i have to repower the it and restart ableton.
the midi drivers are blocking the process when ableton crashes, so i have to reboot the whole machine. i also have an axiom 25 from m-audio. the drivers and knobs are really bad on this thing.

Well i'm about to buy either Fasttrack Pro or Fasttrack Ultra. The guy at the store also suggested tc electronics impact twin (a little out of my price range though and it's firewire). Mine works excellent along with the ASIO download driver . if you are having problems getting sound from your pre amps, mess with it, and adjust your input settings on your DAW. Can anyone please help me. I was using a mini-mixer to record audio but now I have this interface. It is USB powered so I just plugged it into the laptop, then the other end to the back of the interface unit. I'm trying to run something from a computer to a hardware EQ, then back to the computer to record. I have this and another M-Audio digital/analog device that both work great for sending the signal to the hardware and recording MIDI but I can't receive it again to the computer.
Does this (or the audiophile by m-audio) send analog input to digital (usb to computer)? If not, what should i use?
I suggest anyone considering buying one of these go to M-Audio own website and read the complaints thread. Many people, myself included having problems with the sound just randomly dropping out. It seems it is very very sensitive to any fluctuations in current and some have even had it die just by turning on a light switch.

Hey Chris, I've seemed to have lost my audio to my fast track. When I go to my"Sounds and Audio Devices" page and select Fast track pro,the devise volume icon stays gray color and does not respond.can you help me solve this. thanks

Yes I wondering if you can help me I just bought the m-audio fast track pro how do I hook up? I got pioneer 3000 mixer and Mac pro g5 do I need some software? I got log 8 on my Mac and Sound pro I try to record my dj mix to Mac pc please help thank you.

@airnoy99 Im wondering the same thing about this one. I had the Maudio Firewire400 and was doing the same thing. First of all you dont need additional software because your Mac has Garageband, you can record into that. It takes a bit of fiddling around in Garagebands Audio Preferences but it works ok. The only thing is i couldn't get great sound quality because it would clip alot when the music was loud.

Hey man, I got this fast track pro and a mic (SP b1) and I got signal but when I try to record sound into a daw it doesn't work... there is nothing recording, and I tried allready both inputs and all inputs possible in my daws. I really need help. It would be cool if somebody could answer.

this soundcard sucks. i'm using it in ableton on windows 7. so much noise and crackle issues. i tried _everything_ to get it working properly.
when i switch the light in my room on/off the fast track pro crashes or does noise and i have to repower the it and restart ableton.
the midi drivers are blocking the process when ableton crashes, so i have to reboot the whole machine. i also have an axiom 25 from m-audio. the drivers and knobs are really bad on this thing.
DONT BUY M-AUDIO!!

had this problems for allmost a year now.
the ASIO4ALL drivers fixed everthing for me.
seems like the m-audio driver developers are really bad at their job or whatever

@Pianu14 ahhh so its not only me. I have been doing audio for some time now and everything I have is fast and up to date. I thought It was the configuration of my PC..... done with this piece anyone need a paper weight?

Has anyone ever had luck recording a condenser microphone with this thing? I bought one and all I could get was white noise, even when chained to a Presonus mic preamp. Are all USB interfaces junk? I'm beginning to think firewire is the only way to go

@jon6123 i have this, is works fantastic with my syth, but ive had some difficultly getting good sounds out of deeper bass stuff, especially with a real bass guitar.

Well i'm about to buy either Fasttrack Pro or Fasttrack Ultra. The guy at the store also suggested tc electronics impact twin (a little out of my price range though and it's firewire). Anyone can help me with this? I'll use it for home recording and live performing. I already have a ESI Gigaport HD, so a FF Pro vs Gigaport and FF Pro vs Ultra infos would be great.

Mine works excellent along with the ASIO download driver . if you are having problems getting sound from your pre amps, mess with it, and adjust your input settings on your DAW. I've used many DAWS and interfaces and this one for the money is an excellent deal. If you are having issues with it.. it is not the interface,

this is the one i use and it used to work fine... but now for some reason every time i record something it start making a lot of noise..and i have to turn it off and back on, and it works but only for a moment.. does anyone knows why???

Can anyone please help me. I was using a mini-mixer to record audio but now I have this interface. It is USB powered so I just plugged it into the laptop, then the other end to the back of the interface unit. I have a phantom powered mic going to the number one mic port and ofcourse my headphones going to the phone jack. I am getting no sound. Not even through the headphones. It says connected. Please help~!!!!!

I'm trying to run something from a computer to a hardware EQ, then back to the computer to record. I have this and another M-Audio digital/analog device that both work great for sending the signal to the hardware and recording MIDI but I can't receive it again to the computer.
Does this (or the audiophile by m-audio) send analog input to digital (usb to computer)? If not, what should i use?

I suggest anyone considering buying one of these go to M-Audio own website and read the complaints thread. Many people, myself included having problems with the sound just randomly dropping out. It seems it is very very sensitive to any fluctuations in current and some have even had it die just by turning on a light switch.
