It got the "emo" tag because "emotional hardcore" was too difficult for some to say (I suppose). But, in any case, "emo" is short for emotional (emotional hardcore, in fact) and not emotive rock a genre of music. Regardless, Suede was never an "emo" band, as they have no connection whatsoever to emotional hardcore.
